The ducks got orange melon (Azazel had a hard time finding it)

She did not realise it was on her foot, Gretchen liked it the most

Vegan halloween stuff at B&M

There was even more stuff than this, they all have non-dairy creamer but doesn't advertise itself as vegan so most people wouldn't think to check. Look out for anything with marshmallows in though, a lot of stuff is dairy-free but still has gelatine.

Review of the new werewolf (and Spider Legs scent) + comparison to older ones to those thinking about buying

Photo includes a couple of non-BaB werewolves because I wanted a photoshoot of all of them (plus they can be stand-ins for the Howl-O-Ween Werewolf and mini Moons-A-Glow Werewolf I no longer have).

I've collected every werewolf BaB has released at some point (except the blind bag/egg one because not guaranteed to get it) so have many thoughts on how it compares to previous ones.

I think one major improvement is the colour; the face matches much better with the main dark brown than other iterations. I also love yellow eyes on werewolves, but the green eyes on this one make it really stand out which is nice. I wish the B-A-B paw mark thing they all have was green to match (or orange/another halloweeny colour) instead of red.

The face shape is another big improvement over the previous designs. It's obviously based on the Moons-A-Glow one which imo has a much nicer face than the other ones pictured, and I think they have even improved on the original face by making it wider but I can't tell because my Moons-A-Glow one has been loved to death and is a bit squashed.

I think one of my favourite qualities which you can't tell from the website is the new fur. It looks like quite realistic faux fur (sort of double coated), so it is more wolf-like. I've taken close up pictures to show this, on both the large plush and the mini bean. The fur texture is also very soft, though in a different way to the previous 2 werewolves (the furthest right ones in the first image) in a way I'm not sure how to describe. There's more resistance when I rub my hand over it compared to rubbing my cheek/face on it, so it's quite nice to bury your face in.

With the mini bean, it's clear they just used the pattern of the previous werewolf mini bean, but I prefer it to the old one due to the colours and material. Both the new plushes no longer have the felt claws, which some people like although I would prefer if they were present as it adds more to the design.

For the scent, I went with Spider Legs over the new Bat Wings because I thought it would smell more of sweets (the bat one's description says it has some ocean breeze elements). I was quite happy with it because it smells of blue slush which I love. I have a colleague who studies spider legs (specifically the leg hair) who has confirmed they do not smell like this.

Overall I think this is possibly the best werewolf design they have made so far. The only real downgrade is a shorter tail (I like werewolves with big tails), which I forgot to take a picture of but might post in the comments later.

Esmond tripped over Gretchen lol

She tried to flirt with him and flattened but instead of mounting he just walked over her and tripped, what an idiot

What do you feel are good symbols for the ace (and/or aro) community?

There's multiple existing symbols and inside jokes like the cake and garlic bread thing, but those are mostly repeated by white people. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for symbols for the BIPOC part of the community, or specifically for aros/aces in their culture. Can't think of any myself but I haven't had much chance to socialise with other BIPOC aces.

Beelzebub is 6 years old today 🎂

We made her a cake from oats, peas, worms, and her + Gretchen's eggs. They all loved it but Azazel had a hard time finding it due to her blindness, and then Esmond and Beelzebub didn't want to share with her 😭 Photos 3-7 show Gretchen's sprint after hearing the excited honks of Beelzebub discovering the cake

Azazel has recovered very well from her eye surgery

She has been in a separate pen for the last few days and now is free roaming with the other ladies, though we have to keep Esmond separate in a pen now to make sure he doesn't hurt her until she is 100% healed. She has been quite lively and happy and has finished her course of antibiotics and painkillers :)

Azazel's eye removal surgery was a success :)

She needs to be kept indoors for observation + sanitation + isolation for a while, but she is already recovering well. She has some antibiotics and anti-inflammatoties to help her through it, and will have regular check ups as she heals. I shall post more updates as they come

Did a redesign of the apothisexual flag based on the new ace flag

For those who don't know, apothisexual is a microlabel on the ace spectrum for sex-repulsed asexuals. I've always wanted an apothisexual badge or something, but the problem is from a distance it looks a bit like a Nazi flag. Additionally, there's never really been any clarity on what the colours mean on the flag. I borrowed the colours from the new universal ace flag and the red from the original apothi flag and took inspiration from repulsion in magnets (a diagram is attached to show this). I'm mostly happy with it but can't unsee that it looks a bit like some Minecraft eyes. Interested to hear feedback and criticism on the design.

Azazel health update

Just wanted to update people who were concerned about Azazel's health, she is going to have eye removal surgery probably in the next week so hopefully that goes well since it can be risky for ducks. Not entirely sure when the surgery will be as we are still fundraising for her, but we are already about ⅓ of the way there so fingers crossed that works out too.

My partner bought me the bubblegum Cinnamoroll and turned it into a toad for me, here he is with the ducks

I love him so much, I am obsessed with bubblegum-themed things but don't like Sanrio or most mammals so my partner bought him for me and sewed him into a toad (I love amphibians and reptiles). The pattern is much more vibrant than the picture on the website as well. The ducks seemed bamboozled by him

Esmond is a rotten boy

I love him so much but the spring is making him very silly and he keeps targeting Gretchen specifically. She is not interested in his nonsense and runs away and shouts. He is now in the rotten boy pen until he calms down

Curious if anyone else here is also aplatonic or afamilial

Out of all the As I got asexual, aplatonic, and afamilial. The latter two aren't discussed very often, maybe because they are much less common (and are not inherently queer). I'm interested to hear from other BIPOC who identify as either, as yt people (including aspec ones) are often hostile about me identifying this way. One of my abusers who was aspec reallyyy did not like me being aplatonic for some reason, like once when I said "I'm aplatonic" he said "I disagree" (???), and was aggressive about me going and making friends or not following social conventions because I lack the urge to befriend people. I've been surrounded by yts my whole life and wonder if I might be able to get some platonic attachment to other BIPOC as I connect with/relate to them much more strongly. People don't like it if you're afamilial either because there's this expectation that you have to love your family (especially mothers, which is the strongest source of repulsion for me). But yeah, I'm interested to hear about the experiences of others in this area as it seems to be quite rare.
