iVMS-4200 or Hikcentral Lite for home use?

Hey all

Got a new laptop so just went to the website to install iVMS-4200, and it told me that Hikcentral Lite is available now, and is going to replace iVMS.

We have a super basic home camera system - just our NVR and some turret cameras that are kinda oldish now. We don't do anything exciting with it, other than just viewing the live footage and occasionally needing to go back over recordings.

So I'm wondering if Hikcentral Lite is better, easier, cleaner etc and worth using instead? Or if I should just stick with iVMS for now? How have you guys found it?

Thanks :)

Labels - can I have them show emails only under the sublabel?

Hey all

Lets say I have a label called "School" and then sublabels under it for "John" and "Mary"

In the inbox it applies the label "School" AND "School/John" to the emails. When I click on the School label in the sidebar, it shows me ALL of the emails, for both John and Mary.

Is there a way to have that main School label be empty (or only contain general school emails, not those related to either child specifically), and I only see John's emails when I click on the John sublabel, or same for Mary?

Hope this makes sense :)

Thanks

Applying - can I just do it myself?

Hey all

A LOT has changed since my son got NDIS right back at the beginning of it.

I now am hoping to apply for my 10yo daughter and myself, and just reading the NDIS website info on applying etc.

A couple of questions:

  1. It says to get in contact with an NDIS partner first. "Your NDIS partner can explain the application process, and the kinds of information and evidence we need to decide if you’re eligible to become a participant."

Then gather evidence, and THEN apply for NDIS. It says the NDIS partner can help you to apply, or you can do it yourself by filling out the "Access request form."

Personally, I'd rather just fill out the form and attach reports etc myself. However given how difficult the NDIS are being these days - does anyone know which is the best way to do it, for a positive outcome?

I'm just wary of meeting with an "NDIS partner" because of how awful and dismissive and ignorant so many of them are.

  1. And if I do it myself, is it better to attach report from the psychologist and letter from paed confirming etc. OR do the bit where the practitioner actually fills out the section 2 of the form themselves? Not sure which one carries more weight.

Although it's a diagnosis of Autism level 2, so it's on the A List and should be approved, right?

  1. Do they only officially put you down as one diagnosis? Like do you have to choose a primary diagnosis? Do your other conditions come into it and are considered? I have a few medical/disability things going on aside from Autism, but don't know whether it's taken into account or not.

Thanks all - I'm sure I'll be posting in here a ton in the coming weeks/months!

Which databses does GEDmatch use?

Hey all

I'm a bit confused about GEDmatch and where their data comes from.

So when I look at my DNA matches on GEDmatch, are they being pulled from Ancestry, MyHeritage etc databases? Or is it only what people have manually uploaded to GEDmatch?

Because my matches are missing a heap of matches from both MyHeritage and Ancestry... so I'm just confused about where it's coming from and why there's lots missing. People always say to use GEDmatch because it has results from everywhere, but now I'm not sure?

Apologies if this is a stupid question. Thanks all.

Plex Windows app just opens in browser?

Hey all

New to Plex, so learning along the way. I'm using Plex as a media server on my PC, just so we can download stuff and watch it on the TV or our iPads etc. We don't use any of the Plex streaming stuff or watch any of the content on there, it's purely for the server.

I downloaded and installed the Windows app from the Plex site, but is it supposed to just open a browser window and be a web based UI? It doesn't open up as an actual app on the PC where I can manage the server there??

Apologies if this is a stupid question.
Thanks :)

Getting a report/letter from an old diagnosis?

Hey all

I was diagnosed a long time ago - about 16 years ago - and it was quite informal at the time. It was a psychiatrist I had already been seeing for treatment of anxiety and depression, and he noticed obvious signs of ADHD in me, so asked me a bunch of questions while in an appointment one day, and then kind of told me I have always had ADHD, discussed medication etc and that was kind of it.

There was no formal assessment process, I never received a report or anything, and I don't even know if he did a proper assessment/test on his end - I assume he would have had to, for legal reasons, especially given that he was prescribing stims. (Side note - he was a wonderful Dr and a wonderful man, I don't think he was hokey or doubt him at all.)

I haven't seen him in many years, and have since seen a different psychiatrist for many years. He accepted my diagnosis, and continued to prescribe medication for me for it, without question.

However he looks to be retiring soonish, so I am now looking at a new psychiatrist to manage a few things, and I'm realising I don't have much actual paperwork evidence (other than a handwritten form that he filled out for me once for uni, stating that I have ADHD etc).

Has anyone been in a similar situation, with no formal report or letter or anything like that? I'm very much not keen on having to be assessed again, as I've heard some people are needing to do that, but I've had my diagnosis and have been treated and provided with medication for it etc by multiple doctors, so I'm very against being re-assessed.

I'm sure there's a bunch of people who were diagnosed aaages ago and didn't get a report or anything formal for it.

Has anyone been able to obtain some sort of documentation that is sufficient evidence of diagnosis, that will be accepted by health professionals going forward?

Thanks all.

Sydney domestic - Business Lounge or Qantas Club?

Hey all

Flying domestic from Sydney, and wondering whether Business Lounge or Qantas Club is better?

I know the Qantas Club has the new LEGO play area and all that, which my kid likes the sound of, but I’m just wondering which is better all round - food, comfort etc?

Thoughts?

Thanks :)

Must-do things on PC after connecting to VPN so that it works properly?

Hey all

So I've just recently started using Proton VPN. I've used browser extension VPNs previously, just for brief periods to try download something or whatever, but not super knowledgable about the ins and outs.

I'm basically only using it to watch streaming content that's outside of my country, or to download torrents.

I've tried it a bunch of times to allow me to watch Prime Video via a US VPN (on my laptop) but it still sees that I'm not in the US. Maybe this is a Prime thing, and their systems in place to combat VPNs etc, but even when I googled something "near me" just to test it, Google still found my actual location and didn't say I was in the US.

So for example - if I'm switching on the VPN because I want to watch something on Prime that isn't available in my country, or I want to download something or whatever, what are the things I should do - ie, Do I clear the cache for that website, THEN connect VPN? Flush DNS/IP or anything? Any kinda standard things I should do every time so that my connection is recognised as the VPN location?

Hope that makes sense. Thanks :)

STILL no undo function in tools?

Hi all

I’ve been using Snapseed on and off for years, and I’m blown away that there’s still no “undo” and “redo” arrows on ALL of the tools so that you can undo your last step or however many steps.

Sometimes you’re 20 steps in, having done a lot of “brush” edits for example, and if you accidentally swipe on the wrong part or go too big or whatever, you can’t just undo that last bit - you have to go out of the Brush tool and back into it to start all over again.

Pleeeeease fix this 🙏

What is this sticker? Is this normal?

I haven’t seen this sticker on other pairs (admittedly I’m new to NB so I haven’t seen many).

Is this normal? Or does this mean they are fake?

The easiest "hikes" or walks?

Hey all

We're coming to visit in a few days, and I'd like to take the kids for a bit of a walk/hike somewhere, but I'm physically not really able to do anything with steep hills or long distances. Is there any nice nature or pretty walks we can do that are kind flat-ish and easy to do?

Thanks :)

What fits closest to 990s for WOMEN

Hey all

I want a pair of 990v5 but need to go in store to try on some shoes to figure out what size is best for me.

I've seen a heap of people say that the 2002r or 1906r fit and feel etc the closest to the 990v5, but neither of those come made for women - they're a mens/unisex shoe.

Are there any WOMENS styles that fit very close/similar to the 990s? (v3-5 ideally, def not the v6)

I just need some to go and try on and be sized/fitted properly for, so I can then go hunting online for the ones I want :)

Thanks :)

Cart not carrying over to other devices?

Hey all

I use the Chrome browser across all my devices - PC, iPad, iPhone. Signed into the same Google account on all of them.

I was shopping on an online store the other day. I have a bunch of stuff in the cart on my PC, signed into my account for that website, but when I load the site and log in on my phone, the cart is empty.

Is this something that could be a chrome issue, or is it just a crappy cart software issue on that store’s website?

It’s super frustrating, because I wanted to continue shopping and then checkout on my phone, when I was away from my PC.

Input appreciated :)

Thoughts on this secondhand pair?

Hey all

Looking at buying this secondhand pair, but I’m also new to NB.

Can you guys have a close look at the pics and let me know if there’s anything of concern in terms of what condition they’re in, how much wear, damage, anything else, you know?

Would you buy these in this condition?

Thanks! :)

The pics are all super high res and detailed, so you can zoom in etc.

Asian size on tag - yes or no? Mixed answers

Hey all

Not a legit check as such, just want to check something.

I saw a comment in this sub saying there will "never" be an Asian size on a TNF size tag - but I keep seeing SO many on all different models of products in the secondhand market. (Yeah, I know there's a lot of fakes, but some of these otherwise look really legit.)

So - what's the actual answer. Can there be an Asian size on a tag, or is that NEVER a legit TNF product? Looking at various jackets, if that matters.

I was going to ask in the LegitCheck sub, but a mod from here commented a little while ago that he's already seen them get some TNF legit checks wrong, so I'm wary of that. But there's seemingly nowhere else to legit check TNF stuff... which scares me when trying to buy stuff :\

A few examples attached.

Thanks :)

Why are some of my cameras poorer quality?

Hey all

We have a bunch of Hikvision cameras around our house (they're years old, so not the newest spec etc) and for some reason this "Frontyard" one is always much poorer quality when I view it on my iPhone app, or PC.

I've checked the camera settings - bitrate, resolution, fps etc - they're the same as all the others.

Why is "Side of house" so clear, and "Frontyard" so pixelly and blurry and foggy? It's obviously way worse at night.

What am I missing?

Thanks :)

Edit: Apologies about not putting the model in my post - they’re like 10 years old now so I was struggling to find the invoice/info.

Here it is - DS-2CD3345-I 4MP

Is there a name for this?

Hey musicians!

Is there a name for the thing in songs where they drop all instruments except a super simple drumline, and just the vocals, and it ends up sounding like an epic anthem/singalong moment that you have to clap to?

Eg: this banger, from 2:49 https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ0BRS\_rEb8&si=9mRV7d0LGRLD3ZWR

I freaking love it when songs do that, and I’m now wondering if there’s an actual name for it.

Just curious :)

Thanks!

JB Hi-fi open box return?

Hey all

Anyone work at JB? We specifically went to Joondalup HOME store.

We have a brand new Surface Laptop bought only a few days ago. It hasn’t been used, the sealed paper cover hasn’t even been peeled/opened on the laptop.
However the paper rip tab on the BOX has been opened. But only that tab on the box. Everything else is untouched.

Can we return this to exchange for a higher model laptop? (paying the difference of course)

Yes, I’ve read the returns policy, but I know the store managers often use their discretion about certain things. So just wondering if this might be possible, or if anyone has done similar?

Thanks :)
