What fits closest to 990s for WOMEN

Hey all

I want a pair of 990v5 but need to go in store to try on some shoes to figure out what size is best for me.

I've seen a heap of people say that the 2002r or 1906r fit and feel etc the closest to the 990v5, but neither of those come made for women - they're a mens/unisex shoe.

Are there any WOMENS styles that fit very close/similar to the 990s? (v3-5 ideally, def not the v6)

I just need some to go and try on and be sized/fitted properly for, so I can then go hunting online for the ones I want :)

Thanks :)

Cart not carrying over to other devices?

Hey all

I use the Chrome browser across all my devices - PC, iPad, iPhone. Signed into the same Google account on all of them.

I was shopping on an online store the other day. I have a bunch of stuff in the cart on my PC, signed into my account for that website, but when I load the site and log in on my phone, the cart is empty.

Is this something that could be a chrome issue, or is it just a crappy cart software issue on that store’s website?

It’s super frustrating, because I wanted to continue shopping and then checkout on my phone, when I was away from my PC.

Input appreciated :)

Thoughts on this secondhand pair?

Hey all

Looking at buying this secondhand pair, but I’m also new to NB.

Can you guys have a close look at the pics and let me know if there’s anything of concern in terms of what condition they’re in, how much wear, damage, anything else, you know?

Would you buy these in this condition?

Thanks! :)

The pics are all super high res and detailed, so you can zoom in etc.

Asian size on tag - yes or no? Mixed answers

Hey all

Not a legit check as such, just want to check something.

I saw a comment in this sub saying there will "never" be an Asian size on a TNF size tag - but I keep seeing SO many on all different models of products in the secondhand market. (Yeah, I know there's a lot of fakes, but some of these otherwise look really legit.)

So - what's the actual answer. Can there be an Asian size on a tag, or is that NEVER a legit TNF product? Looking at various jackets, if that matters.

I was going to ask in the LegitCheck sub, but a mod from here commented a little while ago that he's already seen them get some TNF legit checks wrong, so I'm wary of that. But there's seemingly nowhere else to legit check TNF stuff... which scares me when trying to buy stuff :\

A few examples attached.

Thanks :)

Why are some of my cameras poorer quality?

Hey all

We have a bunch of Hikvision cameras around our house (they're years old, so not the newest spec etc) and for some reason this "Frontyard" one is always much poorer quality when I view it on my iPhone app, or PC.

I've checked the camera settings - bitrate, resolution, fps etc - they're the same as all the others.

Why is "Side of house" so clear, and "Frontyard" so pixelly and blurry and foggy? It's obviously way worse at night.

What am I missing?

Thanks :)

Edit: Apologies about not putting the model in my post - they’re like 10 years old now so I was struggling to find the invoice/info.

Here it is - DS-2CD3345-I 4MP

Is there a name for this?

Hey musicians!

Is there a name for the thing in songs where they drop all instruments except a super simple drumline, and just the vocals, and it ends up sounding like an epic anthem/singalong moment that you have to clap to?

Eg: this banger, from 2:49 https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJ0BRS\_rEb8&si=9mRV7d0LGRLD3ZWR

I freaking love it when songs do that, and I’m now wondering if there’s an actual name for it.

Just curious :)

Thanks!

JB Hi-fi open box return?

Hey all

Anyone work at JB? We specifically went to Joondalup HOME store.

We have a brand new Surface Laptop bought only a few days ago. It hasn’t been used, the sealed paper cover hasn’t even been peeled/opened on the laptop.
However the paper rip tab on the BOX has been opened. But only that tab on the box. Everything else is untouched.

Can we return this to exchange for a higher model laptop? (paying the difference of course)

Yes, I’ve read the returns policy, but I know the store managers often use their discretion about certain things. So just wondering if this might be possible, or if anyone has done similar?

Thanks :)

Pandora engraving!

Hey all

Wanting to get my little girl her first Pandora bracelet for her 10th birthday, and the heart on the bracelet is engravable.

I keep seeing mixed reviews about the engraving. Some saying online is better because the laser is precise etc, others saying in store is better. Different depths, darker so it’s easier to see, all sorts of differences 😫

Have you had engraving done from Pandora? Was it online or in-store?

Experiences?

Any advice is appreciated :)

Map dining table with or without chairs?

Hey all

We have an i7 that’s a heap of years old now, but he’s still chugging along.

I’m remapping because we got a new dining table and moved things a bit and he had a meltdown.

I’m wondering - is it better to -

  1. map WITHOUT the chairs in place, so he can get right under the table?

  2. map with the chairs in place so he just always goes mostly around it.

The reason I ask what would usually seem like an obvious question (number 1 makes most sense so that he cleans more area) is because 99% of the time that he’s gonna be cleaning, the chairs will be in place. We’re not gonna put them away/up every night.

So is it better for him to have mapped the full underneath etc, but then just be bumping into the chairs every day? Or should I just map with the chairs in place, and we’ll have to manually vacuum under there every so often?

I’m thinking #1 is the best option, so that on the occasions that we DO put the chairs out of the way, he knows there’s an underneath and goes and cleans it. But I’m just not sure if that makes it a pain the rest of the time because he’ll be bumping into the chair legs.

Opinions please!

Thanks :)

Wtf is this sound behind the stereo?

Hey all

2012 MY12 Subaru Liberty wagon (I’m in Aus)

For years I’ve had this sound that comes from somewhere behind the CD player/stereo. To me, it reminds me of the sound CD players used to make when trying to pull in a CD, but I dunno it could be anything behind there.

It happens seemingly randomly. It would go on for months, most times when I started the car and would continue for a few minutes, and then usually after I turn off the car for a few minutes too.

It hasn’t happened in many months until it started again this last week or so, and it happens while driving as well.

I’ve pointed it out to my mechanic, and he has theories, but obviously a mechanic is there to service and repair the engine etc - not to pull apart the dash etc - so I know I’ll probably need an auto electrician.

But has anyone heard this and knows exactly what the issue is?

It’s doing my head in!

Thanks all :)

RAADS-R or CATI?

Hey all

I have my formal assessment coming up soon, but the psychologist has also sent me some questionnaires to do beforehand.

She said I can do either the RAADS-R or CATI, but don’t need to do both.

I think the RAADS-R might have been the one I did online a couple years ago just to see how I’d score, and I remember it being quite stereotyped/outdated? I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong.

Which of these would be best for me to do, as a woman with less of the stereotypical white boy traits? (since all of the data is based on them🙄)

Thanks all 🙂

Fridge techs - brand recommendations!

Hey all

Needing a new fridge, and I think the best people to ask for brand recommendations (rather than a salesperson) are the people who have to fix the shitty ones every day!

I know the following, from a lot of research (tons of people’s actual experiences, and some advice from a bunch of techs), but looking to solidify brands so we can narrow down our choices -

• Stay away from LG!!! And Samsung. (Basically if they make appliances AND electronics, don’t trust the appliances.)
• Definitely staying away from any that have the water or ice dispenser built into the front of the door. Bugger that.

• Mitsubishi is around the top of brands
• Hitachi also
• Bosch also pretty good
• Electrolux / Westinghouse are one in the same essentially now? (I think??)
• What about Haier? And Hisense?

Any others that are great quality? OR any other brands to definitely stay away from?

Oh, and in terms of side by side vs French door/4 door - have you noticed any issues that come up?

Would love some advice!

Thanks 🙂

Duplicates of processes running

Hi all

Me - Win 11 Home, version 25H2. Build 26200.8457. 64bit. Intel Core i5, 16GB ram desktop PC.

So I frequently have times where my PC is strugggggling, and I know a huge part of it is Chrome and the zillions of tabs I have open, and make a conscious effort to try close a bunch regularly and keep on top of that - and I know how much memory it uses so I accept that. The PC is also nowhere near new, and I'm probably due for an upgrade but it is what it is :)

However I was just browsing through task manager after rebooting, and seeing what auto starts etc, and have noticed a number of processes have multiples/duplicates running.

Can I list them here, and you guys let me know if it's normal to have duplicates running, or what could be causing it, if not?

  • Acrobat Licensing Service x3
  • Crashpad Handler x4
  • crashpad_handler.exe x2
  • Creative Cloud Helper x2
  • LogiTune as one process, but drops down to have 6 individual ones under it
  • Realtek HD Audio Universal Service x2 (one of which has another dropped down under it)
  • Sink to receive asynchronous callbacks for WMI client application x2
  • TeamViewer x2
  • Usermode Font Driver Host x2
  • WebView2 Manager x2 (each with 6 processes running under it)
  • WMI provider host x2

I'll attach a couple of images of it, with the processes all expanded to see what's running under them as well, in case that helps.

Maybe it's fine, and they're meant to run duplicates like that... I don't actually know, but any input is appreciated.

Also I guess if there's anything running that shouldn't be? Or I don't need?

Thanks all :)

Footwear in July

Hey all

We're visiting from Aus in mid-late July. We have ski gear already for when we go to play in the snow, but I'm wondering about footwear for just wandering around town and nearby towns, seeing the sites etc?

A lot of people seem to say to wear hiking/snow type boots, because you need them to be waterproof and have good grip. Is that really the case for when you're wandering around town and nearby?

I know that snow hardly ever reaches ground level - most of you seem to say maybe once a year you'll see snow - but are the grounds still potentially icy and wet?

Thanks :D

Which DNA kit is best?

Hi all

The MyHeritage DNA kit is on super sale at the moment - is it as good as the Ancestry one?

Obviously once you get your DNA data file you can upload it to many sites, so it doesn't necessarily matter where you got it from - but just wanting to check that it's as thorough or whatever as the Ancestry one?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't get this one as a gift for my Mum?

Edit: I know that MyHeritage website isn't very good for determining ethnicity estimates, and Ancestry is the best for that... but I'm not wondering about which INTERPRETS the data best - just which is the best actual DNA kit. Or does it not matter? DNA is DNA and you'll get the exact same data file from both companies? Not sure how it works.

Thanks all

Facebook page locked down?

What’s the deal with the Coles FB page being locked down?

Their only viewable post is their “welcome” from 2024. The last images posted were from Christmas 2022.

Woolies, by comparison, are hugely active on their FB page. Multiple posts a day, very engaging etc.

I’m thoroughly confused.
