Go on holiday tomorrow and I've just come down with a cold...

I was already worried I'd hold my family back and not be able to participate in things and now I'm sneezing and even more exhausted than normal. I'm so sad and pissed off. We have a 5 hour drive tomorrow morning and I'm struggling to pack everything right now. My partner is busy doing everything else and now I'm crashed out. I feel so useless 😭 I don't know how I'm going to cope.

Is Indeed full of crap and scams now? Where to look instead?

I read on another sub that Indeed is no longer considered a reasonable place to look for work as it's full of scams or underpaid work. Is that really the case? Where do most people look for jobs now? I almost miss the days of looking in the local paper as the internet is over saturated with job sites now.

Edit to add, I currently have my own business but it is not steady or reliable income. I'll be looking for mostly admin work.

Really want to go camping but multiple barriers to do so.

Edit - wow thanks for all the info! This is all really helpful, I think we'll probably try a yurt or other glamping first before investing in a massive tent etc.

Me and my daughters would love to go camping, however, my partner doesn't like camping as he says he can't sleep in tents as he's always uncomfortable and too hot. I have a chronic illness that means I'm low on energy and dealing with pain and fatigue. I miss my days of being able to camp with no issues (pre kids) and haven't been camping (other than once at a festival) for 10 years.

What sort of things could we do or look for to enable us to go camping without flaring my illness and that might help my partner be able to sleep? Are there any campsites with cafes/kitchen facilities? Not having to worry about food as much would really help I think. Easy access loos would be great as well.

Hiprex - how to avoid stomach issues?

Lots of questions sorry! I've just been given Hiprex to try by a urologist. I have autoimmune gastritis so I'm concerned about the potential stomach issues. I've been looking through the guides but struggling to find how best to avoid the harsh reactions. I've seen some people mention putting them in capsules, how do I do that? I've never bought empty capsules before. I'm in the UK so need something I can get here.

Also, do I need ph test strips? Do I have to use high strength vitamin C? The urologist said my urine was already quite acidic. I do take Floravital that contains vit C but not loads. Can I keep taking this with Hiprex?

I want to try everything possible to avoid further damaging my stomach and bladder so any advice appreciated. And if there's a separate guide on Hiprex anywhere that'd be amazing.

Ideas needed - best foods to eat for absorption problems and sensitivity?

I was vegan for years but unfortunately recently found out I have autoimmune gastritis, which causes problems with absorption. I get B12 injections now as that is the worst affected nutrient but it still affects absorption of everything else, particularly iron. But I'm basically low in everything! I've realised I can't be vegan anymore and I need to gradually reintroduce eggs, dairy and fish. Maybe even meat too, eventually.

My digestive system is highly sensitive to foods due to my condition so I have to be really careful what I eat and how much of it I eat. I've basically been living off tofu, chickpeas, porridge, avocado, sourdough toast, muesli, bananas, almond butter, potatoes, peas and root veg. I can't do onions, spicy food, acidic food, greasy food etc.

I tried eggs first and have discovered that eggs now make me constipated. Even if I just have a pancake I can't go the next day. Haven't been brave enough to try much dairy yet but I've been told to eat Greek yoghurt. I've not eaten fish since I was about 12 so totally clueless in that area.

So my main question is, what foods can I start off with that are easy to digest, gentle on the stomach and are highly nutritious? Any help much appreciated as I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed with it all and it would be great to hear what's helped others.

Digital Microbiology or Focus Labs?

I'm really struggling with getting a culture to see what antibiotics are sensitive to my uti. The NHS aren't growing anything every time. I've read about Digital Microbiology and Focus Labs offering enhanced testing but they are pricey and one is double the price of the other. Any idea which is best?

Why won't the NHS culture my samples?!

I'm so annoyed, every time I've sent a sample off, which is 6 times since January, none of them have been cultured! The lab just sees there's not much bacteria and does nothing. I just want to actually see what bacteria are in there but they won't do it, it's driving me mad. The most recent one had 20/ul of bacteria in it, surely that should be cultured? I know it's not a lot compared to a full blown infection but if I've got an embedded infection and drinking several litres of water per day it won't be a high number. I'm so done with all this 😭

Does anyone react to almost any and all medications?

I have a uti and I need antibiotics. However, I now have a list of about 5 or 6 that I can't tolerate. I'm scared to try others because they're stronger and likely will have even worse side effects.

I can't have trimethoprim, Nitrofurantoin, cefalexin, amoxicillin or coamoxiclav. I just started pivmecillinam yesterday as I've been ok with that before and I started feeling so awful, fast heartbeat, shaking, tremors, slurring speech, confusion, shortness of breath, I couldn't even get my words out properly. Thankfully it wore off but it was scary. I last took it in October last year.

Since last October, I found out I have autoimmune gastritis and pernicious anaemia and reacted to the B12 injections that I desperately need. I can't take famotidine (pepcid) as it gives my nightmares (wtf?). I even have to only take 1 paracetamol as 2 make me feel bad.

Has anyone else managed to get through this somehow? Any suggestions? I'm heading to my GP again tomorrow but struggling with it all today.

Pivmecillinam - anyone had this?

I am usually ok with pivmecillinam but this time I experienced dizziness, headache, feeling sleepy, feeling weak, shaking, a fast heartbeat and confusion after taking the first double dose. Should I try and continue or stop and get a different antibiotic tomorrow?

Stronghold plus spot on flea treatment just got on my face...

When I pushed the lid back on to the empty pipette, a small amount of the liquid sprayed outwards on to my forehead and near my eye. I immediately got a wet piece of kitchen roll and wiped it off my face. Not sure if it got in my eyes but I washed my eyes out with lots of eye wash that I thankfully had in the cupboard just in case. I then had a shower and used lots of soap on the area.

This has never happened before but has put me off spot on's. My cat hates them anyway but we struggle to get her to eat any tablets. I suppose I could dispose of it without putting the lid back on but that doesn't seem ideal either. Bit freaked out about the whole thing! I'm always super careful and use gloves to apply but I didn't expect it to spray in my face just from putting the bloody lid on. I even checked to make sure the pipette was empty, which is was. Gah!

Places to chill with air con

My eldest is autistic and really struggles in the heat. We have to brave the town centre today so if anyone knows of anywhere we can cool off and relax when it gets too much for her that'd be amazing.

"The world often assumes that because a young person can speak, learn facts, pass examinations or hold a conversation, they will naturally be able to keep themselves safe. The reality is frequently very different."

I'm in the UK and follow Michael Charles (a specialist SEND solicitor) on Facebook as he is such a great advocate for ND children. Please do look him up, particularly if you're in the UK, as he provides brilliant advice.

I was reading one of his posts earlier and this paragraph struck me.

"The world often assumes that because a young person can speak, learn facts, pass examinations or hold a conversation, they will naturally be able to keep themselves safe. The reality is frequently very different."

He's really hit the nail on the head here. I feel very much this way about my 14yo. She is so vulnerable but some of our extended family wouldn't have a clue just how vulnerable she actually is. She can't attend mainstream school, wouldn't cope in a specialist setting and we are left wondering what exactly the future holds for her. She's now at a critical time in her education and should be preparing for exams next year but instead we are without a suitable education for her. She loves learning new things but, as always, the world holds her back. She can't tolerate the school environment and suffers as a consequence.

I don't know if she'll ever be able to drive a car or live independently. I don't know if she will ever be safe to navigate the world by herself. She has so much to give, so much amazing knowledge, so much love for nature and animals. But she can't cope in the world, everything is too much for her and I worry so much for her future.

If anyone else has been where we are and things improved, I'd love to hear. I feel so lost right now.

Synacthen test tomorrow. Will I be able to drive afterwards?

I have a synacthen test tomorrow at 11am but I have to pick up my kids afterwards and my partner is working. I'm a bit concerned about how I might feel afterwards and if I'll be ok attending alone and driving after, doing normal stuff etc. I tend to react to things so I'm worrying I'll be on my own and unable to cope.

Edit - to update, I had it. Went ok, although I was stressing and panicky. Absolutely exhausted now but at least it's done.

Check your long life milks aren't going over 25°c!

I've just had the misfortune of drinking some oatly no sugars oat milk that had clearly spoiled as it was stored on top of my fridge in this heatwave and it has got too hot. (I'd moved it in to my fridge this morning.)

It was rank. Do not recommend. Check the temperature of your rooms/cupboards folks! All the chocolate items in my cupboard also melted today 😭

Met Office, Ventusky or Weather and Radar. Which is more accurate?

I have all 3 apps and pay for W&R. However, they currently have quite different predictions regarding Thursdays heat. MO - 36, W&R - 33 and Ventusky - 29. Ventusky is the outlier in that it's the only one showing under 30 all week for where I am (outskirts of Manchester). I think MO is likely to be more accurate here, even though I don't want it to be. How has everyone else fared with these apps and their accuracy? Are there any others I should try?

I think my daughter is struggling with task paralysis...

My daughter is 10 and on the pathway to diagnosis. Recently she is struggling much more with what I think is task paralysis. She gets in to this state where no matter what we say, she can't brush her teeth or get dressed. She gets really upset and says she doesn't know why she can't do it. Obviously after 30 mins to an hour of attempting to get her to brush her teeth, my patience is waning. But she clearly can't help it so I want to try and help her to get through these feelings so she can do the tasks she needs to do. It's doubly awkward as my eldest, who is AuDHD and quite high need, thrives on routine and doing things at the right time is important to her and she can't understand why her sister is unable to complete simple tasks. To say their personalities clash sometimes is an understatement!

I am undiagnosed but I think I may struggle with task paralysis as well as yesterday I got totally overwhelmed with the state of the kitchen (in hindsight it wasn't even that bad) and had to leave the house to calm down.

Would be really great to get some tips from other ADHD folks as to what works for you to overcome these feelings as it's causing lots of issues for the whole family.

Common or giant hogweed?? UK.

Bit concerned about the hogweed we have in our front garden. Until now I always thought it was common hogweed but this beast has emerged and now I'm worried! North west of the UK, giant hogweed is a problem on the canal near us about 1 - 2 miles away.

Need a new style with a fringe

First photo is my hair, unstyled, just blow dried. I want a fringe now so considering the following 3 styles but I don't know which would best suit me or my hair. I don't want to dye particularly, although I do have a few greys now!

Anyone else stopped receiving Inpost QR codes?

I've not received any for my last few orders. Wondering why. I hate typing the codes/phone number in as it takes ages and the screens on the machines are always really dirty.
