River City Ransom Underground port

This is the first game I've ever tried porting. It's a delisted Beat 'em Up with RPG elements from 2017. It's always been a favorite of mine. I've always been a Kunio/Technos fan ever since I played RCR on NES as a kid. I've always wanted to play it on a handheld so finally the day has come.

The Windows release for this game doesn't even work in Gamehub or Winlator.

This port uses the Linux release from Steam but unfortunately has been delisted since Dec. 30th, 2025.

Currently there's no other legal way to purchase the game so I'm debating even releasing the port.

Currently in beta.

Running in muOS on the rg34xxsp.

Dead Trigger port | rg34xxsp | muOS

This port was "released" a few weeks by "justaporter". According to dev SlayKin6, his friend took his unfinished work and released it. When I first tried it, the cursor wasn't visible using the latest version of muOS pretty much making this game unplayable (or really difficult)

Original posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/R36S/comments/1uqtecr/dead_trigger_port_highly_experimental_r36s/

https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/comments/1urfurf/dead_trigger_port_running_on_rg34xxsp/

Apart from that, this title is very playable and is working nicely on my (2gb ram) H700 device.

GitHub Release:

https://github.com/justaporter/Dead-Trigger-port/releases

I fixed the cursor with a patch for muOS. I don't know for sure if it'll work on other devices or with other firmwares. Try it and let us know.

Replace the files from the archive but always remember to make backups!

Once you're in game, the DPad controls the cursor and the analog sticks are already bound, you'll just have to bind the fire, reload buttons etc.. in the gamepad options menu.

[Review] XREAL xbx A01+ as an Android handheld gamer

Disclosure: Before I begin, I think it's important to be transparent.

In the summer of '25, I purchased my own XREAL Air 2 Pro's 2nd hand through Kijiji (Canadian buy & sell site). About a year later, after sharing my experiences online and becoming active in the XREAL subreddit and Discords, XREAL contacted me and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing the xbx a01+.

They provided a review unit for this review, and no money was exchanged.

---

Why another review??

There are already plenty of reviews covering specifications, brightness measurements, and feature lists.

This isn't one of them.

I've spent roughly a year using XREAL glasses as part of my everyday gaming setup, and this review is based on actually living with them. Rather than telling you what the XBX A01+ is supposed to do, I want to share what it was like using them in the real world.

---

First impressions.

The first thing I did was plug the xbx a01+ into my AYN Thor and launch Halo SPV3 through Winlator (PC gaming on Android).

I wasn't trying to benchmark anything - I just wanted my first session to feel natural.

The first thing I noticed wasn't the display.

It was the weight.

They're incredibly light.

THEN I noticed the display itself.

To my eyes it looked brighter, the HDR AI processing gave the image a little more life, and most importantly for me, the fit was noticeably better than my Air 2 Pro's.

With the Air 2 Pro's I occasionally had to adjust the glasses to see the entire image comfortably. I'd sometimes lose a little of the top, bottom, or corners depending on how they were sitting on my face.

With the XBX, that problem disappeared for me.

That alone made longer gaming sessions noticeably more enjoyable.

---

Where these glasses really clicked..

One afternoon I had about an hour before my lady finished work.

Instead of driving home and back through rush-hour traffic, I parked my ride, went to a near by outdoor lounge, plugged the glasses into my Galaxy S23 Ultra, paired my 8BitDo SN30 Pro, and played through PS Remote Play.

It was around 28Β°C outside.

After a while I kind of forgot where I was.

When I finally took the glasses off, it hit me that I'd just spent the last hour playing outside with nothing more than my phone, a controller, and the glasses.

---

Playing 3D Nintendo 3DS!

One of the things I was most excited to revisit was Nintendo 3DS emulation in SBS 3D with Azahar.

Using Azahar, I've been playing Ocarina of Time 3D, in HSBS with 4K texture packs, along with Star Fox 64 3D and Mario Kart 7 with the CTGP-7 mod.

The stereoscopic 3D was the highlight for me.

Did it magically transform those games?

No.

At the end of the day, they were still 3DS games.

But it gave me another way to experience games I already loved, and I found myself smiling more than once while revisiting them.

Don't get me started on 3DSen!

---

Things I missed...

Coming from the Air 2 Pro's, I did miss the electrochromic dimming.

It's a feature I'd become more accustomed to than I realized, especially when gaming outdoors.

The included light shield works well, but it's a different experience.

Other than that, my workflow has always been pretty simple.

I plug the glasses directly into whatever device I'm using and start playing.

Because of that, I never relied heavily on Beam features or anchored displays, so I don't think it's fair for me to criticize the XBX for not focusing on features that weren't part of my own normal use case.

---

Who I think these are for?

If you enjoy gaming and have room in your budget, I think the XBX A01+ is worth serious consideration.

They're definitely a luxury purchase.

Nobody NEEDS a pair of display glasses.

But if you've ever wished you could carry a large personal display in your pocket instead of another monitor, they're surprisingly easy to appreciate once you start using them.

If you already own another pair of display glasses and you're happy with them, I don't think this is an automatic upgrade. It really depends on how you use them.

---

More releases keep coming and I really wanted to play this so I made it work on my device for muOS.

All you have to do is replace the files (always backup your files)

You'll need Wi-Fi for the first run so it can download a compatibility runtime

Idk if this will work on other devices or firmwares. Try it and let us know.

Check the above links for the instructions.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on muOS

I keep seeing these r36s ports but half of them are broken when trying them for muOS Funky Jacaranda. For example, when I first tried this port, the sound wasn't working and it didn't have a splash screen.

Muos sound fix:

Replace the files... But always make backups (always 🎢)

EDIT:

The game has normal Y axis camera controls. I'm from the GoldeneEye/Afterburner generation who play inverted so I provided "/asm2_127/bin/asm2-portmaster-armhf.inverted.y.axis" - Just rename and replace the file and Remember What I Said 🎢

Pokemon Gen1Recomp working on muOS

I got it working after a bit of tweaking. Unfortunately it runs slow as hell when you're outdoors. Idk if an update can fix that issue... If it ever is, I'll post a comment.

For some reason, the archive "gen1recomp-0.1.45-rg34xxsp-stockos64-mod.zip" doesn't contain the JSON for Pokemon yellow so I provided a link below.

Does anyone remember the oldskool commercial shorts?

Way, way before the 3D shorts. Back in the PJ Fresh Phil days and their jingle was 3 bells.

I'm talking about the super oldskool shorts. I recall one short was a lady at a Canadian school or something (I'm assuming), in a gym, singing a song that goes sort of like:

"Listen to my heart beat... Because I love you so"

The short kept focusing on a young boy and girl, likely siblings. Used to only see this play on YTV when I was home during a weekday which was incredibly rare for me in the mid 90's.

There were some others but I can't really remember them too well. They always played the same type of up-beat beat. I vaguely recall one where some guys were break dancing or rapping outside maybe in a parking lot.

The only other videos I can remember like this is when YTV went off the air for the day and it was PJ Haznah (sorry if I misspelled that) singing "Oh Canada" before showing the color bars

Gear of War 2 Hallow PC Port

I got Gears of War 2 Hollow PC port running via Winlator CMOD using proton 9.

Installed and ran everything with the launcher on my PC and configured the settings before copying the game to my SD card. (/GearGame/Config/DefaultEngine.ini)

I just made the Winlator shortcut point to "/Binaries/GoW2Hollow.exe" rather than "GoW2Hollow_Launcher.exe" cuz it has dependencies that likely give errors and it isn't required to play.

Windows setup:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/4h7cki5f7eylw7j/GoW2Hollow\_Setup.exe/file

Setup requires "GoW2Hollow.zip" and provides two mirrors but they were dead last I tried... I cannot provide it here, you'll have to get it elsewhere...

We got SoR4 Pocket before GTA VI

This is an Anbernic rg34xxsp. Many titles, including indie modern games (Mina The Hollower) have been ported (not all perfectly) to these types of devices. It plays Atari to PS1 games perfectly, with some titles from Dreamcast and other consoles also playing smoothly. I customized mine with decals and buttons from Sakura Retromods on Etsy. It's an awesome addition to my EDC. Allowing me to play most of all the games from my past.

Changes I've noticed between them both is that GTA San Andreas and Half-Life 2 load a bit faster and run smoother. Very happy overall. Likely selling the black one sometime soon.

Has anyone else personally noticed any small differences?
