This page makes no sense to me lol

Admittedly I never got to play graceful charity because I was a Kingdergartener when it got banned but now as an adult I realize the unfathomable power of this card and I read this page for the first time with adult eyes and I find it makes no sense.

For context, this is turn 2, Genma's first turn, and his first play of the duel is to play Graceful charity, which puzzles Yugi and Genma's opponent as he plays it right at the start/before even summoning a monster.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Graceful charity best played as fast as possible, before you committed to doing anything this turn ?

Of all the statements in the manga that contradicts my personal experience and understanding of the game, this one puzzles me the most, cuz unlike many cards in the manga/anime, graceful charity works exactly like in real life so I think I have a good enough grasp of real life to think I know their statements make no sense imo

How much would you price Jono's bounty ?

In Yu-Gi-Oh ! R, the antagonist Tenma hired a bunch of goons to try and stop Yugi from climbing Kaibacorp. Tenma placed a bounty on Yugi's head and one on Jono/Joey. As you can see, Yugi's bounty is 100k dollars (and that was back in 2004) while Jono's is just 10 dollars.

Obviously the joke is that Tenma way undervalued Jono's worth because everyone keeps underestimating him but that made me wonder: How much you would price his bounty if you wanted it to be more accurate ? Knowing that Yugi is worth 100k

Favorite character you used to not care about but you grew to love recently ?

I played Doki Doki Literature Club back when it released and I really really loved it. Back then I was in high school. As much as I loved it, I felt like Natsuki was the weak link of the cast, but recently I went through DDLC again and I realized there's so much more depth to her character than I gave her credit for back then. I didn't realize back then that in a lot of ways, she's the most perceptive character of the four (perceptive like you can be in real life, not the way Monika is) and now I realize it's because she pretty much needed to be, considering the house she grew up in. So it makes sense that she's like, the only character who can pick up on what's going on somewhat, realizing the others changed and suspecting Monika. She's also the more resilient character in a way, as her personality didn't change nearly as much as for Sayori and Yuri.

I could go on but I think you get the idea. I didn't like her then but now I realize she has nothing to envy to the other girls in term of character depth and I really like her.

Anyway, what's your character like that ?

My first mech ever

Hi, I'm new to this sub. Technically it's my second playthrough but in my first one I was a barbarian who barely built basic machines so I thought in this one I'd try less fighting and more engineering.

Anyway this is my first mech and it kinda sucks but I like it. I can tell there's a billion things I could improve but I'm not very good yet, but hey, there's always a first.

The right arm is embarrassing. I wanted it to rise like a shield but obviously it doesn't. Told you I'm new to it.

I'll get better though

Every Saiyan who successfully killed off the main villain of a story*

*In animated Dragon Ball cuz I can't claim to know every single spin-off, adaptations and what-ifs lol. Also assists don't count so no Gohan killing Hatchiyak or whatever.

A story can be an entire arc of the manga/anime, or the main villain off a movie or OVA or TV special, you get the gist I hope.

If anyone wants clarifications I'll gladly give them in the comments lol

What would you do if you had Ranma's curse

in case you don't know (though I have a mighty hunch a lot of you already do), in Ranma 1/2, Ranma is AMAB but has a curse where he turns into a young girl whenever he touches cold water and turns back into a boy upon touching hot water. In his case he doesn't take it very well (at first at the very least) but I'm sure a lot of people here would take it very differently though I wondered how much exactly it would change your life.

Make no mistake I'm sure most people here would make sure to be on girl mode most of the time but I was wondering, to what extent ? Would you honest to God try to never ever touch hot water again or do you think you still would to some extent like when taking a shower for example. I just got really curious about how much Ranma's curse/blessing would change your day to day life.

Personally as a non-binary I desperately want that curse but I'd use it very differently from most people here I wager. I would just switch on and off very liberally depending on what I feel like trying at any given moment

u/MysteriousFondant347 — 2 months ago

I guess that's the universal non-binary experience

My big sister told me to get a few books upstairs and instead of giving them directly in my hands she just like, piled them on the top of my head to mess with me. She doesn't even play Undertale or Deltarune so she doesn't get why I found that funny.

She thought I just wouldn't keep them on my head otherwise she wouldn't have risked the integrity of the books. Maybe I'm the weird one though because instead of grabbing the books in my hands I decided to assert dominance as the most balanced member of the family and climbed the stairs without making a single book fall. She told me I was an idiot and I think our mother looked from afar wondering what the hell we were doing.

So now I'm starting to wonder if Enby people just have the superpower to stack items on their head and keeping them balanced.

Anyway now she started doing it more, likely to see if I'll ever choke. Older siblings are weird

What's a Mark variant headcanon you have ?

We know practically nothing about the Mark variants so I thought some of you MUST have strong headcanons going on about at least one variant, so I ask: What are headcanons you have about the variants ?

It can be something you believe is true or something you genuinely believe is true or something where you're like "It's probably not true but I'd love it to be". Mine is the latter.

I like to believe that Gogglesvincible, the variant killed by Rex, is the exact same we see at the start of season 2 fight the resistance with Nolan(which I'll call fascist Mark from now on, as he had basically conquered Earth and was killing the remaining resistance force with his dad).

Both have a very similar acting from Steven Yeun, who makes a conscious effort to play all the variants differently, this sort of quiet menace that doesn't feel threatened by anything and is just nonchalantly committing evil, like watch them both back to back and I think you'll feel the same way.

But also Gogglesvincible directly implies he killed Rex with his own hands with the line "you're even dumber than the Rex from my world" which matches with a comment Resistance Eve made about Rex who erroneously believed he managed to escape Mark and Nolan before dying, which I like to think is the thing Gogglesvincible refers to here. Rex was so dumb he thought he was safe and died.

Add to that the fact that Gogglesvincible taunts Rudy by calling him "Robo buddy" and mentions knowing them well enough to hear the fear in Robot's voice, which matches season 2 Fascist Mark who obviously used to work with Earth's heroes before betraying them for Nolan.

Unlike fascist Mark, Gogglesvincible has a different suit, sure, but not that different, so I believe he used to have the same suit before having a design change, maybe after destroying the resistance his suit was damaged or he felt the time for a change had come so he had a new one made, that was mostly faithful to the original.

Anyway that was my headcanon ! What do you guys think ? Do you have variant headcanons of your own ?

Found this old screenshot on my PC and I don't know where it's from.

I was looking in screenshots that are like, 10 years old for something completely unrelated and I have no memory of where I got this from.

I think it's supposed to be some sort of concept art for the original Broly movie but I have no idea where it's supposed to come from, or if it's real.

On it Vegeta is hurt when he has his big existential crisis which would explain better the weird state he's in, he got his ass handed to him spectacularly.

Honestly I find this pic very interesting if it's real but I can't for the life of me remember where it's from

I also have no idea what it says. I don't speak japanese

Here's the thing I'd want to change in the show

Some time ago I was asked, if I could change only one thing about the show, what would it be.

Like, one singular plot point, or something about a character, or how an arc goes, you get the idea. I thought about it and actually came up with an answer I find interesting

So, I love legend of Korra, but I can't exactly pretend it's a perfect show. Its main issue was that for half the show they literally couldn't make a long term plan because they thought it would only be one season and then they thought season 2 was gonna be the last season. Season 3 was the only season made with the knowledge that there'd be more afterwards and I think that's part of why it's the best season. They could focus on the plot of the season without having it be an actual ending point, so it ends when the red lotus is defeated and they can focus on that and leave loose threads for season 4 and tease the next season villain while they're at it.

A good example of the fact they couldn't plan ahead in the first half of Legend of Korra is general Iroh, who shows up way too late to be a main cast stay, he just shows up to give invaluable help and have a cool battle scene and a nice callback at the end, which I think would have been perfectly fine if it was one season long but as things stand we're left with the biggest taste of "Oh yeah he was just kinda there, wasn't he ?"

So here's what I thought I'd change to give more sense of a long-term plan. I thought it would be great if general Iroh was removed and instead it was Kuvira who shows up in season 1.

In this world, Kuvira isn't just the head of security of Zaofu, she's also a general of the united forces who enlisted as a way to keep the Earth nation safe by keeping order in the world. It keeps the fanservice value of having a descendant of the Gaang help for battle(though here there's already Lin for that I admit), it shows her willingness to keep Earth continent land safe, her liking of order, her strength in battle, her competence in an army (considering she became a high ranking member at her age), you can even foreshadow her thought that republic city is "stolen land" as she will say when trying to claim it in season 4. But most importantly, it makes her a known face early and gets her to bond with team Avatar.

Then she can show up again in season 2 the same way as general Iroh, planning to help Korra, be it because she feels kinship with her or because she thinks Unalaq could grow to be a problem to the Earth Kingdom later, before being stopped by the president before she can be useful. But where Iroh was reasonably disappointed he couldn't help Korra, have Kuvira straight up infuriated, grow to resent the president for being so unhelpful in the face of danger and the united forces so useless against such a concrete danger.

Fast Forward season 3, Kuvira is in Zaofu, either she happened to be on vacation or she showed up when she heard team Avatar was on the way. It makes her a familiar face in Zaofu and at the end of the season when she's saving Tonraq. She's no longer that at the present mostly unremarkable metalbender who happened to save Tonraq. We recognize her as Kuvira and of course she saved Tonraq, she and Korra are war-sisters at this point.

Season 4 is next and you really don't need to change anything or most this time. Kuvira offers her service to rebuild the Earth Kingdom and gets shut down, not only because of Lin but because of her position in the united forces, so she gets fed up and quits to make the Earth empire. from then on it's mostly the same thing except it's with someone you know. It makes sense that Bolin joined her because they've been through war together, it gives more reason why Korra would hesitate to fight her until she has no choice and almost sees her point at first, and it hurts that she's now a villain. It makes the audience more torn on the topic and her final scenes more compelling. It also gives more the sense of a long-term build-up for the finale. Not to the level of Ozai, but still a final showdown that feels more developed.

At least that's the idea I got. It's still pretty basic, but I thought it could be pretty cool. What do you think ?

The exact opposite of plot armor

You're all familiat with plot armor. But sometimes a protagonist gets the furthest thing from it. A situation where by every conceivable account they should win, get the edge or at the very least be okay, but the plot took them and said "Nah. You lose because I said so"

Zane vs Nadakhan (Ninjago): Nadakhan is the villain of Ninjago's sixth season. An evil genie who fulfills his wishes but uses the wording against you to get his way. Cool concept in practice, terrible in execution.

Nadakhan gives each Ninja 3 wishes but most cases are bullshit. No examples proves it better than Zane who willingly chooses to confront Nadakhan and use his wishes

Wish 1: Nadakhan can't misinterpret his wishes in any way. He hasto do exactly what Zane asked and nothing else.

Wish 2: Whatever bad thing is inflicted to Zane will be inflicted a hundred times worse to Nadakhan.

Seems like Zane got this in the bag, what could go wrong ?

Nadakhan uses Zane's wishes to delete Pixal, Zane's girlfriend who was at the moment living as an AI assistant in his brain. She's basically dead. And Nadakhan argues that since no harm was inflicted to Zane specifically, nothing happened to him either.

Feels out of left field ? That's because it is. There's absolutely nothing in Zane's wish that concerned Pixal in any way. It's like if I wished it would rain tomorrow and suddenly I'm paralyzed. Completely out of left field.

What does Zane do with his third wish ? He can't stomach living without Pixal so he gives up and wishes to be absorbed by Nadakhan.

As I said, the exact opposite of plot armor.

Game of thrones a Telltale game series: Basically the whole game.

As an ASOIAF fan I love the game's concept, playing a canon minor house of the north after the red wedding, basically the North's 9/11, but this game really shoots itself in the foot at every turn.

One such way is how every choice in this game will always be used against you. You want to do the pragmatic choice ? Punished. The selfless choice ? Punished. The safe choice that can't possibly punish you ? Punished. The pragmatic choice your councellor actively told you to do ? Punished, also your councellor thinks less of you for taking that choice.

The game ends really bad for your house no matter what and they really pulled out all the stops so there's not a single choice in the entire game that does even a little bit of good for anyone, least of all you, no matter how much bs the game has to pull.

u/MysteriousFondant347 — 3 months ago

She 100% didn't do it

Small PSA: There's like, absolutely no way she's actually guilty. I'm not even convinced this is a real flashback we see. We're gonna learn that's just how present people see Korra because of all the slander.

If she actually did all those things it would be a twist, it wouldn't be featured so prominently in the show's marketing.

We're 100% gonna learn it's just all a big misunderstanding or slander. At worst, she'll have failed to stop what's actually going on, and I wouldn't be surprised if we learned she actually lessened the blow somehow and stopped the greater evil.

Don't fall for it folks. Our queen is innocent

This guy loses a lot of sauce in NG+

Father Gascoigne is probably the best skill check boss I've ever seen in a video game, in that he's a nightmare to deal with at first and becomes very manageable when you lean about the game, this is Bloodborne's gatekeeper, you will not get past him without understanding the mechanics of the game and how it's very much not dark souls.

He's also a great introduction to hunter and a great foil to the player, as he uses starter weapons (albeit differently from you). He's such an obvious pseudo-player that the first time I played I thought maybe we could also transform the way that he does in his third phase and I was a bit bummed to learn that we can't, the closest equivalent being the Beast claw coupled with that rune I can't remember the name of.

That being said in NG+ he's kind of a joke, not gonna lie. Some bosses manage to remain a challenge in NG+ and he's not one of them. Still a great boss

These dudes are as fascinating as they are annoying

Hi everyone I wanted to share my latest run-in with the Yahar'gul hunters (starring the most inexplicably persistent huntsman I've ever seen). I love when I manage to beat all three of them at once so I thought I'd share. They're probably the trickiest hunter encounter in the game, but so satisfying to fight and defeat.

I also thought I'd use this occasion to speak about these dudes because I forgot there's that much stuff about them.

Something of note about the Yahar'gul Hunters that you might not have even processed is that there's actually six of them throughout the game, or five if you only count vanilla.

Obviously there's these three, then there's the two hunters you can find on the way from the grand cathedral to the Yahar'gul entrance, one of them wields a Tonitrus and a wooden shield and the other wears the rifle spear and Ludwig's rifle and by God will the latter love to use those firearms.

The last one is in the old hunters DLC, it's the hunter locked in one of the cells of the underground dungeon who drops the Church pick and seems to be the summon Defector Antal considering he has the exact same weapons.

They all wear at least one piece of Yahar'gul armor or the full set for most of them. The Yahar'gul set explains that these hunters work for the school of Mensis and imply they kidnap people at night for the school of Mensis to experiment on. As for many things in that game, it all roots back to Micolash.

Defector Antal is the exception to that, his title and the fact that he wields the church pick implies he deserted them and is trying to fight them, which is why he can be summoned to fight both Darkbeast Paarl and the one reborn, the bosses from Yahar'gul. He helps you clearing the way to the school.

As for the other five they seem to protect the rituals of the school of Mensis and try to prevent you from reaching the one reborn or Micolash, obviously the pack of three blocks the only way forward and likely broke the Hypogean Gaol's lamp to try and prevent you from coming here, and the duo earlier stands in the only way from Yharnam to Yahar'gul. That is, if you didn't get teleported directly to the entrance after defeating Rom.

So yeah these no-name hunters have more going on about them than you'd think at first glance and that's five whole unique hunters on Micolash's paycheck

I'll also use that occasion to rank the Yahar'gul hunters from least threatening to most threatening imo.

6- Defector Antal. Fittingly he's the least threatening of the gang. He doesn't even get in the way unless you want the Church pick and get in his cell, and if you do, by that point you probably figured out you can phase your attacks through walls and it turns out you can abuse the hell out of this method here.

5- The Tonitrus hunter. His lack of guns makes him way more manageable, it only slows down the pace of the fight, and the tonitrus isn't exactly the scariest weapon in the game. He's only a threat if you make the mistake of fighting him at the same time as his peer, but you can easily aggro him one on one and kill him alone.

4- The chapel hunter with the rifle spear and cannon. I swear to the gods, I've never seen him use his cannon, not once. He's only an issue because he's part of a trio. You can and imo should leave him last while focusing on the others.

3- The beast claw hunter. This exhibitionist is pretty annoying with his speed and mobility, he will most likely get in the way of damaging the other two and can be tricky to combo. He has no gun but that might make him more annoying as he will keep trying to melee you. He should always be killed first.

2- The chapel hunter with the cane and the flamesprayer. Not only does he have a real annoying firearm and a melee weapon with deceptively a lot of range, he also has the tiny tonitrus, which will 100% ruin your day if you're not prepared. He's the most annoying of the three and you should kill him the second the beast claw hunter is dead.

1- The double gun hunter. Screw this guy, he's always annoying to fight, his one goal in life is to replace as much as your flesh with quicksilver as possible and if you fight him the first chance you get, you might not be armed to deal with a hunter as annoying as him. There's not really any cheese with him, you just need to learn to dodge roll through his shots and close the gap and hit him before he gets a chance to shoot you again.

Anyway that were my thoughts. What do you think of those hunters ?

...And my fight too lol, since that was the initial topic.

u/MysteriousFondant347 — 3 months ago

this dude is always a war of attrition

Probably the scariest hunter in the game, though unlike a lot of enemies, I find him a lot less scary in NG+

Still took me a good chunk of tries

u/MysteriousFondant347 — 3 months ago

My disappointment is unlimited

I thought while I'm on new game plus I could finally fight Djura without getting humiliated or cheesing the hell out of it and I didn't quite put up the fight I expected

Why are there so many puppygirls among transfems ?

And conversely, so many subs. In fact that's almost my main question.

I hope that doesn't sound rude I'm like, genuinely wondering if anyone has a factual explanation.

I'm like that myself, I'm very much a puppythem, or puppyperson, not clear on the branding, but I have no idea why that's such a well rooted thing lol

Who do you see replacing Reuben Langdon for DMC 6 ?

It's a genuine question I have but when I tried to ask it on the main sub it got removed by the mods and I got dozens of comments of hatred and "he won't be replaced, that's a dumb question." I don't think even a single person answered my question.

As you may know Reuben Langdon didn't voice Dante in the Netflix show and not only that, he was also fired from Street Fighter after he started collecting bad political takes like pokémons on Twitter. So I think it's not a stretch to assume that he may not return for a DMC 6.

And as much as I dislike the dude as a person I can't deny he killed it as Dante so I was, genuinely wondering, cuz I'm not really knowledgeable about american actors and voice actors, who could you picture playing Dante in the hypothetical DMC 6 ?

The most physically painful kill I've ever done

One of my first moments using the Whirligig saw. I thought the pig fisting was unsettling but this actually gave me physical pain, I physically cringed the whole time
