Question about amending my 2024 and 2025 tax returns

I gave my 2024 and 2025 tax returns to my CPA last week to amend them. My previous tax preparer didn’t report some miscellaneous income and also missed a net loss for 2025. She told me the miscellaneous income was ROC (return of capital) and wasn’t taxable.

I invested in high-yield dividend investments, and the dividends were automatically used to pay down my margin loan. Fidelity reported some of these payments as substitute payments/miscellaneous income.

If I end up owing more tax after the amendments, will I also have to pay interest or penalties?

Since I’m voluntarily amending the returns, is there any way to have the interest or penalties waived?

Just trying to understand how this works.
Thanks!

Which Bank’s ATM Do You Trust the Most in the U.S.?

I know you can withdraw cash from pretty much any ATM, but which bank’s ATM do you personally trust the most? Looking for one that’s safe, reliable, and rarely has issues.

Do most tax preparers include both federal and state when amending a tax return?

My original tax return included both my federal and California state returns. I recently found an error and told my CPA that I want to amend my tax return.

If I just tell my CPA I want to amend my tax return, does that normally mean they will amend both the federal and state returns, or do I need to specifically ask for the state return to be amended too?

Also, is it common for preparers to charge a separate fee for the state amendment?

Can I hide or mask account numbers on Schwab?

I’m new to Schwab Checking and noticed that my full Schwab account number is shown on my statement. I also noticed that when I transfer money from an external bank to Schwab, the external bank account number is visible in the transaction details.

I use Schwab Bill Pay to pay my credit card, but I haven’t had a Bill Pay transaction appear on a statement yet. My first payment was sent on August 3, so I’m not sure what the transaction will look like.

For anyone who uses Schwab Bill Pay, **what information is shown for the Bill Pay transaction on the statement?**Does it show the credit card account number, and is the full number visible or only the last 4 digits?

Also, is there any way to hide or mask account numbers so that only the last 4 digits are shown?

How does Fidelity's micro-deposit bank verification work?

I recently linked my bank account on the Fidelity website by entering my routing and account number and choosing the micro-deposit verification option.

I understand Fidelity will send a couple of small deposits to my bank account, but how long does it usually take for those deposits to appear?

Once I receive them, where do I go on the Fidelity website to enter the deposit amounts and complete the verification? This is my first time using the micro-deposit method, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Can you use a Schwab debit card at both Capital One and Citibank ATMs?

From what I understand, Capital One ATMs are now on the Discover network, while Citibank ATMs use the Mastercard network. Does that affect whether a Schwab debit card works at either ATM, or can you still use it without any issues?

Curious if anyone has recent firsthand experience.

Schwab ATM reimbursement not showing up yet?

I have two ATM fee reimbursements from trying out my Schwab checking account. I know the reimbursements are supposed to be credited by the end of the month, but I still don't see them. Is there a chance they'll show up today or tomorrow, or should I expect them to post on the next business day?

Does Fidelity MTL cover new unauthorized ACH payments if my CMA account number is exposed?

If someone gets my Fidelity CMA account and routing number and uses it to set up a new ACH payment without my permission, such as a Netflix subscription, another recurring subscription, or even a car payment, would Fidelity's Money Transfer Lockdown (MTL) protect me?

I know previously authorized recurring payments may still go through. I'm asking specifically about a brand new ACH authorization that I never approved.

Does Fidelity CMA have a direct deposit form like Schwab?

Schwab provides a pre-filled direct deposit form with the routing and account numbers that I can give to my HR/payroll department. Does Fidelity CMA offer a similar form? I don't use paper checks, so a voided check isn't an option.

ACH transfer between US Bank and Fidelity does the name need to match exactly?

Has anyone had experience linking bank accounts when the names don’t match exactly?

I noticed my Fidelity account does not include my middle name, while my Schwab and US Bank accounts have my middle initial. I was able to link my US Bank account to Fidelity without any issues and have been doing ACH pulls since I opened the account.

Im now considering doing a push ACH transfer from US Bank to Fidelity through the US Bank website because I’ve heard push ACH transfers are usually faster.

Would the missing middle name versus middle initial cause any problems with the transfer? Has anyone successfully done this with slightly different account names?

Can a new Schwab checking account be flagged for an ACH transfer?

My Schwab checking account is about 2 weeks old. I already linked my bank account, and now I want to link my Schwab checking account to Fidelity and initiate a transfer from Fidelity’s side (pulling money from Schwab into Fidelity).

Could this trigger any security review or account flag because the Schwab account is still new? The transfer is only between my own accounts.

Has anyone done this with a newly opened Schwab checking account?

Is it normal for ACH transfers to a new Schwab checking account to take almost a week?

I recently opened a Schwab checking account and have transferred money from my external bank twice so far. Both transfers were initiated on a Monday.

The first transfer took almost a full week for the funds to clear. I initiated another transfer thisMonday, and the funds still haven't cleared.

I remember having a similar experience when I first opened my Fidelity account. My first transfer took about 7 days, but after that, transfers usually settled in about 2 days.

Is Schwab similar? Do transfer times improve after the account has been open for a while and you've built some account history, or is a week the normal processing time?

Schwab Bill Pay & Direct Deposit Question

I'm thinking about making Schwab my primary checking account.

How long does Bill Pay usually take to reach the vendor? I'll only be paying my US Bank and Chase credit cards.

Also, how long does direct deposit usually take to show up in my Schwab account?
