This is just the tip of the iceberg. Some of you may believe that ignoring it is the best thing to do - I believe it's the easiest thing to do. But I also believe that ignoring a problem never solves it. Women didn't get to where they are today by ignoring misogyny. African-Americans didn't get to where they are today ignoring racism. India didn't get its independence by ignoring British misrule. We too must not ignore this problem.

I'm not saying we should reply to every racist and give them engagement, losing our own piece of mind in the process. In fact, we shouldn't do that, as it only fuels the fire. Instead, we should focus on dosing it. This is something we **must** have an earnest discussion on.

I've been coming across a bunch of reels on Instagram where in the comment section, the usual Indian hate was present...way below the top comments. These hate comments dont have the same number of replies as they used to, because from what I'm seeing, fewer Indians are reacting to them. And the top comments? Indians giving it back to the racists, with these comments having the most engagement. Its not perfect yet, but it seems that more and more of us are figuring out how the algorithm works, and are using that to our advantage.

Not just Instagram, but it's visible here in reddit as well. The Frisco sub, infamous for outsiders flooding the sub to hate on Indians, doesn't have the same reach any longer. While people still complain about H1B visas, the ones that are outright racist no longer have up votes, unlike what it used be just a few months back. Even on international subs, outright racism has become unpopular. Don't get me wrong, there are still a lot of snide remarks and jokes still exist, but the overt hate just doesn't get up votes anymore.

I think we might be seeing a change, but if it's real, we must not be content with it. We must continue spreading the message on how the algorithm works to turn the tide. It's an uphill battle, but it must be done.
