I feel like height is the most important quality for a man.

Even if you are poor and stupid if you are 6'6 people take you seriously.

If you are Tom Cruise and one of the most succesful actors, people will still talk about how insecure you are and discuss your height?

I am 6'6 and it seems to intimidate most guys even the more succesful ones.

Does vacation home ever make sense?

My family situation. Me and wife (38 year old), 7 year old boy.

1.5M in investments - VWCE, bonds, rental property

Own our apartment without mortage - 500K

FIRE Goal - 2.5M euro (without primary home)

We can work from anywhere because we run an online business that makes about 15K net euro a month. We spend about 2-3 weeks in Greece every summer.

Would it make sense to buy a property in Greece for 250-300K and spend 2-3 months per year there? Or is it stupid financial move that will prostpone our FIRE?

Пуснах тема да дискутираме как да се разпредели 1М инвестиции в акции. Почнаха да дават акъл хора явно без никакъв опит, че било глупаво 1М да се слагат в платформи, тук нямало хора с 1М и тн. Сигурно само в тухли в Малинова е сигурно за тях. Защо хора които не разбират от нещо дават акъл?

Is it only me feeling uneasy at keeping all my money in only 1 platform? Would you keep for example 1M (if it was all your money) invested only in Interactive Brokers? What about hackers, site going down due to technical issues, etc...

Купих си апартамент в Гагарин на зелено. Вече има АКТ16, получих оферта от 48К евро за завършване до ключ (70кв с общите и около 50-55кв чиста площ). Не съм запознат с цените. Живея в чужбина и няма как да движа ремонта. Това ок цена ли е?

Everyone is talking about buying 17Pro now because 18Pro will become more expensive. Nothing stops you from waiting to see what 18Pro will really be like and how expensive. Whoever says 17Pro will become more expensive after 18Pro release does not know anything about technology pricing.

Good luck to the vendors selling 17Pro more expensively in late 2026/early 2027... You understand that 20 year universery is coming right and nobody will be buying their dead 17 stock in 2027?Just chill out and wait for 18 Pro to be announced, then you can make an informed decision.All people that are giving some "logic" why they bought 17Pro now instead of waiting are coping with some made up facts.

Reality:

  1. Nobody knows exactly what will come with 18Pro and how expensive it will be

  2. No chance 17Pro will get more expensive after September...

I have 1.5M euro in a cheapish country of Bulgaria and am not even close to retirement... How do you do it in Western Europe?

Here are my expenses in Bulgaria...

800 to 1K euro on food

1K euro on the car (insurance, fuel, maintenance, the car itself, etc)

1K euro for the going out, restraurants, takeaways short trips, kid expenses, gifts for birthdays, christmas, etc

500 euro for clothes, gym, barber, etc

300 euro Utilities (no mortgage paid of flat worth about 500K in Sofia)

200 on MISC

So Sofia life costs me about 4K euro

We then also have about 25K per year on travel (as per last 2 years).

So our lifestyle costs 6K euro a month and the child is still not a big expense at 7 years old. This is without paying for a house!

If our lifestyle costs 6K, we need about 2M to retire. This is not even a luxury lifestyle, we don't spend like crazy. I guess in Western Europe the same lifestyle will be about 9K euro. So you will need like 3M euro.

If I was below 5'10 I was going to look into growth hormones... Why are so many people here that are still teenagers that don't look into this?

Even if you are not deficient you can still get it to gain 1-2 inches.
