Any GB Studio developers looking for a pixel artist for a paid collaboration?

Hey! I’m a pixel artist and art director running a small team called Nera Studio.

I’d love to connect with someone making a GB Studio game who needs help with the art. We can work on characters, animations, backgrounds, tilesets, and UI, following your project’s palette and asset requirements.

The images here are examples from other indie projects we’ve worked on, rather than GB Studio assets. All the pixel art was drawn in Aseprite.

I’m especially interested in an ongoing collaboration where we can get familiar with your game and build its visual style together.

Our rates are $12/hour for ongoing paid collaborations and $15/hour for individual commissions. We can start with a small paid task to see how we work together.

If you’re looking for art support, feel free to tell me about your game!

A pixel art environment I worked on for an indie game

One of the environments I worked on for Melan.

I handled the environment art and visual direction, and this was one of the scenes where I experimented quite a bit with atmosphere and lighting.

Looking back at it now, there are definitely things I'd approach differently, but I'm still pretty happy with how the overall mood came together.

What would you change about this scene?

I made my first game while unemployed and somehow actually released it

This is Melan, my first ever game.

I started making it in August 2023, when I was unemployed and honestly just wanted to make something so I wouldn't feel like shit about myself.

It's based on a story about a friend of mine. It was also the first pixel art I'd ever made, so I had absolutely no idea what I was doing lol.

I didn't know how to code or design games either. Back then AI wasn't really what it is now, so most of my programming knowledge came from YouTube and asking other devs for help whenever I got stuck.

And yeah... the game isn't very good.

The level design is rough, there are bugs, and I spent way too much time rebuilding things. The current version is actually the fifth time I rebuilt the game's code.

Somehow, I still managed to release it on Steam in October 2025.

It didn't make much money, so I eventually had to stop after Chapter 1.

And honestly, I don't really recommend playing it. I'm mostly sharing it because this is where I started, and I still feel weirdly proud of it.

I'm working as an art director now, and maybe someday I'll have enough money to remake Melan properly.

Anyway, that's it. Just wanted to share my first game.

finally got to share some of the work from spirit of phuji :33

hey! just wanted to share some footage from spirit of phuji, a pixel art game i've been working on with an indie dev team.

i've spent quite a lot of time working on the game's visuals, so it's really nice seeing everything come together in the actual game. really happy with how the environments and characters turned out :)

the game is now available to wishlist on steam if you'd like to check it out!

i really enjoy working on indie games and seeing how different teams approach their projects, so if you're also making something and ever need some help with the art, feel free to dm me :)

finally got to show off one of the games my team worked on :33

hey! i'm nera, an art director and the lead of a small pixel art team.

i just wanted to share one of the projects we've been working on recently, spirit of phuji.

we've been working with the indie dev team on the game's art for quite a while, from characters and environments to props, maps and the overall visual direction. it's always really nice seeing all the separate assets come together and actually feel like a real game.

i'm pretty happy with how it turned out, so i thought i'd share some of it here :)

the game is now available to wishlist on steam if you'd like to check it out!

we mostly work on pixel art and game art, and one thing i really enjoy about working with different indie teams is getting to adapt to different art styles and help shape the visual direction of a game.

if you're also making an indie game and looking for someone to work with on the art side, feel free to dm me. i'm always interested in seeing what other people are working on and potentially collaborating on a project.

[FOR HIRE] Pixel Art Team — Game Art Production & Art Direction

hey! i'm nera, an art director and the lead of a small pixel art team.

we're currently looking for paid game projects to work on. we're happy to take on smaller art tasks if you only need a few assets, but we can also handle most of the game's art production if you're looking for a team to work with long-term.

we mainly work with pixel art and game art, and we can cover pretty much everything from characters, creatures and animations to environments, tilesets, maps, props, ui, icons and vfx.

we're also pretty flexible when it comes to art style. if your game already has an established style, we can follow your existing direction and keep the assets consistent. if you're still figuring out how the game should look, i can also help with the art direction, from establishing the visual style and art pipeline to reviewing assets and coordinating the team's work.

one of the games we've worked on recently is spirit of phuji. we've been working with an indie development team on the game's art and overall visual direction.

you can find more of our work on my x:

https://x.com/NeraNera89103

for pricing, we usually work hourly with a clear task list and time tracking, so you can see what we're working on, how much time each task takes, and how the project is progressing. i find this makes it much easier to keep track of the art budget and adjust the scope if needed.

if you're currently working on a paid indie game and need a pixel artist, an art team, or someone to help with the overall art direction, feel free to send me a dm. i'd be happy to hear about your project and see if we'd be a good fit :)

[FOR HIRE] Need Pixel Art for Your Game? Small Experienced Team Available

Hi! I'm Nera, a pixel artist and Art Director leading a small team specializing in pixel art for indie games.

Our latest collaboration was Spirit of Phuji, which has recently launched on Steam. We're now available for new freelance work and long-term collaborations.

Whether you already have an established art style or you're still exploring the visual direction of your game, we can help.

What we offer

Pixel Art Production

If your game's art direction is already defined, we'll create assets that match your existing style and keep everything visually consistent.

This includes:

  • Characters
  • Environment assets
  • Tilesets
  • UI
  • Animations
  • Effects
  • Icons

Art Direction + Production

For teams that need more than asset creation, I can join as your Art Director.

My role includes:

  • Establishing the game's visual identity
  • Building a consistent art pipeline
  • Reviewing assets
  • Giving feedback throughout development
  • Managing the production process

Our artists then produce the assets following that direction, allowing your team to focus on development.

For projects where we take on the Art Director role, we simply ask to be credited with our logo in the game's credits or intro.

Pricing

We charge by the hour.

Every project includes a detailed task log showing:

  • What was completed
  • Time spent on each task

This helps keep production transparent and makes budgeting much easier.

If you're working on a pixel art game and need artists or an Art Director, feel free to send me a message. I'd love to hear more about your project.

[FORHIRE] Art Director & Pixel Art Team, Available for Full Game Art or Commission Work

Hi, I’m Nera, an Art Director leading a dedicated pixel art team capable of delivering complete art production for games.

One of our recent collaborations is Spirit of Phuji, developed together with a dev team. The game is now live on Steam for wishlist, and we’re very proud of the result.

We’re currently looking for new partners and projects. We can either support specific art tasks or take full responsibility for the entire art direction and production of your game.

Two ways we can work together:

  1. Commission-based work You hire us to produce art based on your existing style and direction. We ensure the assets match your game’s art style perfectly.
  2. Art Direction partnership (recommended) I take the role of Art Director for your project, handling all art decisions and production. This option is more cost-efficient than commission work.

In return, we ask to place our logo in the game intro.
Beyond production, I also provide extensive art guidance and feedback at no extra cost.

Pricing model

All work is calculated by hours, with a clear task list documenting:

+ What was created

+ How long it took

Transparent and fair for both sides.

You can see more of my work and updates here:

Looking forward to collaborating with you and bringing your game world to life.
