When do you tell your kids you were adopted?

Did you tell your kids you were adopted? I have a 5 and 3 year old. Right now they are too little to understand. I am not sure if I’ll even tell them?

Edit: my adoptive parents don’t know I found my bio family so I don’t want the kids to accidentally say something to them. Also, not sure how to tell them either? I’ve been in contact with bio family for 2 years.

What do you do if your 5 year old says “ this is the most disgusting dinner ever “

My 5 year old is picky sometimes. Tonight I made meatball subs for dinner and she said “this is the most disgusting dinner ever”. How would you handle that?

How did you know you were done having kids?

We have 2 kids; 5 year old girl and 2 year old boy. After I had him I thought for sure I was done and there have been moments where I’ve thought “ yep, I’m definitely done” mostly during roughy moments. I do find myself thinking about having another baby though. Mostly after seeing baby videos, looking at baby pictures of my kids, realizing that my oldest is in kindergarten etc. But I also remember the hard parts: c-sections, recovery, sleepless nights, etc. plus we’d have to get a bigger vehicle and right now each kid has their own room. I also wanted to be done having kids at 25 so I could not be old when my kids graduate school. I am 27 now. My husband is okay with having another baby or stopping at 2. We keep going back and forth.

Pro choice people: genuine question about why late term abortion is acceptable

I saw in the news that the Massachusetts governor is allowing abortions up until birth. I am pro life so to me that sounds horrible. Why would someone decide to abort their baby late in the pregnancy? What is going through a woman’s mind when she decides to get one? When I think of an abortion i think of the baby. How far they have developed and can’t imagine putting a stop to their growth. Hearing their heartbeat, seeing them in the sonogram, imagining their tiny body. I am genuinely curious, please don’t be mean in the comments to anyone.

How to stop my 2 year old screaming/screeching in the car.

So my 2 year old boy will scream/screech in the car if: his blanket falls and he can’t get it, his toys fall and he can’t get them, his sister is singing, the sun is shining on his face, I buckle him in because he is not doing it himself, or something doesn’t go his way. He will also do this in the house when something doesn’t go his way. If I spank him, he hits be back. I have tried telling him to use his quiet voice, but it doesn’t work. Also when I tell him to stop doing something, he will test it. For example when I tell him to stop throwing his cars, he will act like he is throwing them or gently toss them. When he does that I take the car away and he looses it for a day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also: if you’re going to comment something negative about spanking, please don’t. Sometimes “gentle parenting” tactics are not for feral kids lol

Should I use PTO to stay home to clean?

I have 18 hours of paid time off I can use. I really don’t want to use 8 hours of that just to stay home to clean, but the house needs to be cleaned. We worked outside this weekend so house chores were put on the back burner. I like staying home by myself while husband is at work and kids are at school. I get a lot more stuff done.

I was adopted from Russia but have found my bio family through VK. What questions should I ask them other than the obvious ones?

Kitten behavior

We have 2 kittens that we’ve had for 1 month, 1 boy and 1 girl. The boy kitten acts normal but the female is a little extra. When I am walking around she licks and nibbles on my toes. She also does this to fingers. If I am going to sleep she puts her face on mine. Also she puts her nose in my ear while she purrs. While I don’t mind her snuggling up to be at bedtime, I really don’t want her in my face. Will she grow out of this?

Potty training 2 year old boy

We will be potty training our 2 year old son soon and I need all the tips. We have tried before, but we weren’t very successful because we haven’t been consistent. He knows what a potty is and he will sit on the toilet and go pee. We have tried putting him in underwear but he will pee in them and keep on playing. Our girl was a lot easier and quicker to potty train. I know we have to be consistent. I am looking for any other tips/advice.

Bedtime with 2 kids

I am curious how others with 2 kids do bedtime. My husband and I have a 5 year old and 2 year old. Before our youngest was born, I did bath, story time, and I would lay down until she fell asleep. About a year ago we started alternating which kid we’d put to bed. One night I’d put my daughter to bed and the next night I’d put our son to bed. Husband would do bedtime with the other kid. My 5 year old had a hard time adjusting to this new schedule but is getting used to it. We also have stopped laying with her until she falls asleep and will sit with her for 10 minutes. We still lay down with the 2 year old. I feel a little guilty about not snuggling with her, but we are trying to get her to sleep on her own and stay in her own bed during the night.

How is bedtime at your house? Do you do bedtime together or separate? Just trying to see if we need to switch things up or keep them the same.

Fucked over by Verizon, need advice

Husband and I went to Verizon and paid off our phone and tablet with the plan of switching to another carrier that was offering new phones for switching. We went to Walmart to get switched to the new carrier but the phone rep lady told us about Verizon’s new $30/ month/line plan and convinced us to stay with Verizon. Both of our phones were eligible for upgrades and after spending 2 hours there she was able to “upgrade” my phone but not my husbands due to the system being down/ using up all of the allowance. She was also going between us and another customer, which I normally wouldn’t have minded but that’s why we spent 2 hours there. Since my husband’s phone was not working right, he went to Verizon today to get a new one. While there he found out my phone wasn’t an actual upgrade and we are on a payment plan. So instead of our bill being $60/month it will now be around $130. That includes his new phone and mine. The phone rep lady didn’t tell us we would still be paying for my phone. She said all we would need to pay was the sales tax on the new phone. Any advice?

We have 2 kittens and need litter box smell help

We just brought home 2 kittens, male and female and they are using the litter box. We clean it in the morning before leaving for work and evening when we get home. I can still smell the litter box smell. What helped? Also how hard would it be to train them to use the toilet?

Was I wrong for asking my mom to watch the kids?

Okay here are the basics:
We’re visiting my parents who live on the other side of the country.

We haven’t seen each other in about 2 years( we do FaceTime and talk on the phone)

We are staying with them for about a week.

Kids are 5 and 2. They are in their 50’s.

Last time we visited they watched the kids but said we stayed out too long. Honestly I don’t remember the exact amount of time we stayed out but we went out to eat and looked at a lake so if I had to guess maybe 4 hours at most.

Anyway, asked my mom if they can watch the kids and she said no due to above reason, they are not free babysitters, they wanted to spend time with all of us, and my kids don’t listen very well. ( they are toddlers so we’re still working on it)

I felt like I was wrong for asking. Was I wrong?

Edit: I’d like to add that this is the only “vacation” we’re getting this year because I started a new job and won’t be paid for my time off. We try to see them every year but we were sick one year and couldn’t afford the next year. The only time we travel is to go see them. Also husband’s mom watches the kids part of the week while we work and they go to prek/ daycare the other half of the week. Before pre k/daycare his mom and grandma watched them full time. Trust me, I know how blessed we are to have his family for that. I thought it would be okay to ask since his family watches them and I thought my parents might want to maybe spend some time with them.

Edit #2: thank you everyone for all the helpful replies. I just will never ask my parents to watch them ever again. Lesson learned. Just wasn’t expecting her tone, kinda made me feel like I was a kid in trouble again.

[27/F] looking for international pen pals

Hello, I am new to this thread. I am in the USA and would like to find an international pen pal.
A little about me
I was born in Russian but was adopted when I was a young child. That’s probably the most interesting thing about me. Sadly I am not fluent in the language but I can pick out a couple of word here and there.

I am married with kids.

I like to read, listen to podcasts, watch cooking shows or anything that’s funny, garden, and paint.

What I am looking for in a pen pal:

Must be female and close to my age.
