The phone number used by the fraudsters to receive the money carried an Indian country code (+91). The money never left the country.

When the scam collapsed and the woman panicked because she couldn't immediately repay the shopkeeper, a crowd gathered. Because the victim was a Muslim woman wearing a hijab, certain elements in the crowd found it incredibly easy to weaponize existing biases. Without knowing any facts, people instantly jumped to communal conclusions—calling her a "Pakistani" and claiming she was sending funds across the border. Her identity made her an easy target for bad actors to spin a standard financial crime into a viral conspiracy theory.

And the mods don't even care. The incident didn't even happen in Uttar Pradesh, but now look at this post getting downvoted to oblivion and the mods removing it immediately
