What does this mean?

I applied and interviewed at a Marshals in California. They asked for my Social Security in an email. I'm assuming this is to do a background check? Is it? Do they do background checks on a select few final candidates or only the one they want to hire? thanks

Background check

I was on probation as a juvenile for deferred judgment for a year. That was it, all I got was probation. I never went to juvey. I'm basically done; I was good, didn't get arrested or get caught doing anything bad, and did my community service. They are taking my stuff to court at the end of July, and it will be taken off my record. I interviewed for a part-time job. They liked me, and now they are doing the background check. Since my court date hasn't happened yet, I'm assuming it's still on my record. Will they see this in the background check? Will it affect my chances of getting the job? Do they just see deferred judgment, or do they see specifically what I did? I kinda want the job like a lot bc it gives me work experience in a field I'm passionate about, and it's a good extracurricular for when I try to transfer from cc to a 4-year. Also, I just wanna have fun at work ig, instead of being bored at McDonald's. I'm paranoid. thanks

Edit: If they see the offense, can you give me a list of what they think abt different types of offenses? Mine wasn't that bad, and it wasn't violent, and it didn't involve theft.

The oxymoron of minorities practicing religion

It is highly unlikely that there is a higher power, and if there is, I'd rather just go to hell

I am not religious. I think religion is bad for society, but I also don't really care what other people do; life's too short + it comforts them. I don't want to ask this to anyone in real life, bc A, I chose not to hang out or become close with religious ppl; I respect them and treat them as they are equal to me because they are, but we are just not on the same frequency, and B, I don't want to be rude and start unnecessary drama.

I am afab, masculine-presenting, and I have short hair. I'm also Afro-Latino.

I do not like living in a world where I am scared to be myself

I do not like being paranoid that I could get attacked bc of the color of my skin

I do not like having to fear being molested

You get the point

Being a minority in society and being religious at the same time is oxymoronic
I am aware of the whole free will + suffering gives empathy and builds character argument. But those who can get you to believe absurdities can get you to commit atrocities.

If any of you guys are minorities and were religious in the past, or have some insight, and feel comfortable sharing. It would be so kind of you to share, and I'm so grateful that you are willing to contribute to this positive and productive discussion. Thank you.

We are all on our own journeys, so this is a judgment-free zone.

What keeps you in the faith?

When you experience prejudice in real life, what is your thought process? What do you think God's or the multiple gods' intentions are? - How do you cope, and what is its relation to your faith?

What are your thoughts on the multiple religious writings that say women are below men? Why do you still follow your faith?

Does it make you feel better that your oppression serves a higher purpose(creating empathy + building ur character)? Does the thought that there's no special purpose for your oppression sadden you?

What do you think when you see someone who acts prejudicially towards you holds the same faith as you?

Edit: Hypocrisy

Boarder terrier training tips?

I have a Border Terrier rescue mix. I'm trying to train him in classical conditioning, and the reward is his food. I hold some of the pebbles in my hand, and while I'm training him, he will sometimes bark or growl at me. I'm assuming because he thinks he's the boss and wants the food.

I haven't used negative reinforcement because I'm unsure

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice. I'm assuming you just have to act like you're not afraid, but is there anything else? I just don't want to get bitten and be able to get him to stop and to be able to diffuse the situation. Thanks.

Thinking abt trends.

Trends exist, and most people follow them instead of developing a personal style in fear of standing out, if ur from a lower class, it's also aspirational, and it your from a higher class, it's gatekeeping to signal power? It's all just human nature and the primal drives within us but yeah.

In group and out-group.

I was thinking abt this because I was thinking about the question "What is fashion? What even is fashion?"

Clothes are just any item, so fashion is a clothing item that signals something?

At the end of the day, fashion is a product, and everything is just manufactured, even if the manufactured thing is a reflection of society and the values of people at a time. It is a fantasy, not that that's a bad thing.

The things in fashion get manufactured because people want to buy them, going back to trends.

Is there a consensus on the definition of fashion, or is it kind of like art?

In the definition of fashion, in your definition of fashion, is there anything to do with the monetization of fashion, because this is an undeniable aspect?

How are trends in the/your definition of fashion?

Edit: ig I'm just trying to find a broader, all-encompassing definition that "fashion is art." I agree fashion is art 100%, but it's possible for it to be multiple things at the same time.

Zara and H&M are not art, do you consider them to be fashion?

I'll probably think of thousands of these, but "Fashion is a projection of what you desire inward, outward,"

I would like to train my BT, any good tips?

I have a BT mix. He is a rescue, and I'm not sure what else he's mixed with.

I would like to train him, eventually, to the point where he'll jump onto stuff on command, and maybe do a backflip. I would also just like him to be better-mannered and calmer because he is very hyper. He is 4 years old.

I'm going to do some research before I start, but if anyone has any general advice or tips and tricks, that would be nice. Thanks. I've already taught him how to sit, stay, and jump up, but a backflip is a lot. I don't want to hurt him or make him accidentally break a bone cause I love him too much to do that, so should I speak with a professional, and are some dogs just not willing to do tricks? Should I even try? If he wasn't willing to do tricks, I would not force it upon him.

A big fear of mine with any trick that involves jumping is him breaking a bone or hitting his head. Do you guys have any general advice on that?

Idk if its cause he's mixed, but he's friendly with other dogs, and small animals as well as people, so I was thinking one day when we're better that it would be fun to do a competition! Anyways thanks!

Should I say this in a job interview

I have an interview at the rack soon. I also just got out of hs and want to go to school for business and work in corporate fashion one day. When they ask about where do you see yourself in 5 years or smth Is it okay if I talk about starting at the rack and moving to a nordstroms and then moving up till I'm on the corporate side one day or will they not like that? I'm assuming they won't mind bc its all the same brand, but I'm just making sure. Also, I have never interviewed in my life, so I'm assuming they'll like it more if I said I want my future to be within corporate at Nordstroms instead of something like corporate at Prada - am I right? Or is that okay cause I know Nordys has connections to these brands to get their stuff? Anyway thanks.

Should I do this in the interview

I have 2 job interviews soon, one says they would like you to have 1 + year of retail or customer service experience. I have zero work experience and just graduated hs, on my resume I have 4 extra curiculars that involve working with people. 2 as a school club member, one as volunteer work with animals(You work with other volunteers and customers and the store manager) and the other teaching kids martial arts, but I'm unsure that is enough. I was a member of my school's business club, and I have a 1:30 video presentation I had to do with a group. Should I show them at the end of the interview, or is that weird or a bit much, or will that better my chances? Thanks

Should I do this in an interview

I have an interview with an eyeglasses place for a sales associate position soon. I just got out of hs and don't have any real work experience. I'm also someone who wears glasses. I do know stuff abt sales, and if they don't ask me to during the interview, should I ask them if we could role-play me selling them my glasses, or is that unnecessary? Also, at what part of the interview should I do this? I have this same question about a nordstroms rack interview for a sales associate position, the Rack, not Nordstroms. Anyway thanks

Also, the glasses I wear are a brand that they sell at the glasses store, and they sell their sun glasses and, cosmetics, and fragrances at my rack

How should I style my hair for a job interview?

I just got out of high school and want my first part-time job + experience in the fashion industry cause I like fashion and would like to work within the industry one day.

I have 2 job interviews soon, one at a Nordstroms rack, and I don't want to disclose the other store's name, but it's a nicer store

I'm masculine-presenting, light-skinned(like the shade of willow or Jaden Smith), have 4c hair and afab, but anyway, for the interview, should I pick out my fro or use product to bring my curl pattern out? Thanks

I don't think the managers would be discriminatory abt hair, like they gave off a good vibe, but idk

Also, the stores are in predominantly white areas, so idk what the customers would want to see more, and if that even affects the hiring process. Anyway, thanks

What to wear to the interview

I have a job interview with Nordstrom's Rack and an eyeglasses place that's nicer as a sales associate or stock assistant for both. I'm pretty confident I'll get it, other than the fact that this is my first job out of hs and I'll be up against ppl who have degrees. I'm conventionally attractive, "approachable", actually knowledgeable abt fashion and sales, well groomed, + I look like the type to wanna work in/like fashion. Thanks!

Also, maybe I'll be a DEI. I spoke with both managers, and they seem like the type to hire a DEI

If Ur black, should I pick my afro or use product to let my curl pattern out, or does it not matter

How to stand out in an interview

I just got out of high school and want a part-time job. I also like fashion and wanna maybe work in the industry one day, so I want the experience. I have an interview with Nordstrom's Rack and an eyeglasses store that sells at a middle range price point next week for a back-of-the-store position and sales associate positions at both places, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some general advice on how to stand out, what they like and dislike, and stuff. Thanks.

Job interview soon

I just graduated from high school and want my first part-time job. I have an interview with Nordstroms soon. I really like fashion and already have an extensive product knowledge, but I was just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to stand out, what they like and dislike, and my location is hiring for sales and stock assistance. Also, is a white dress shirt and grey dress pants good for the interview, or should I do black dress pants and a blue dress shirt, or should I do black dress pants, a white t-shirt/dress shirt, and a grey blazer? thanks

How to stand out?

I just graduated from high school and am looking for my first part-time job. I have an interview with Nordstrom Rack for the back of the store and an eyeglasses store as a sales associate soon. Does anyone have any advice on how to stand out? I have done extracurriculars in the past, but other than that, I'm kinda just a normal kid, and I don't have any crazy achievements

Selling on Grailed

I'm in HS, and I wanna start selling on Grailled as a side hustle + it's a good college EC, I wanna sell menswear mainly Hedi, Raf, Margiela and Helmut, and other random pieces that fit the aesthetic, idk maybe I'll branch out if I get good

I like being sustainable, and I don't like having a big wardrobe. I would only buy pieces after I know everything abt the designer, and I know a lot of pieces, and I know that this piece specifically resonates with me.

IK not everyone is like me. Some people only buy stuff for the hype, most ppl are collectors, they like the art and significance of the piece - but am I missing any reasons ppl would buy in this niche? Thanks.

Some ppl are rich, others aren't

I feel like most ppl who buy these brands are doing so because it's aspirational, they want the look, they are really into fashion, and just like these brands and want to collect, but also they are buying designer, so they want the perceived status.

Ig my main question is, are there a lot of people who buy this stuff off of grailed bc they care abt the quality, or is it mainly for the looks and the brand name? thanks

Actually idk what Im gonna do, whatever makes the most profit. I'm assuming if I go to sell more mainstream trending items ppl just want the status, depending on the brand, and if it's niche they like the art/care abt the quality am I corect? Thanks

Do you view ur clothing purchases as art pieces?

I do. I only ever buy stuff once I have a good understanding of the designer, know as much abt the piece as I can, and it resonates with me in some way. I don't really like having a big wardrobe, it's more sustainable that way anyway. What abt you guys?

Do you guys think of ur purchases as investments cause they last longer, do you plan to wear ur cloths till they fall apart, or are you overconsumers?

If I start a successful TikTok/YouTube, is that a good EC

I'm aware that for a passion project, you need scale, but how much? If I start a YouTube and or TikTok where I teach people about Fashion brands' marketing techniques, apply economic concepts to the fashion industry with real-world examples and lessons, and analyze and break down runways. If I manage to get 1,000 followers, is that good, or do I need more? If I try and fail, does it count as a learning experience for less strict schools?

You have to take risks in life anyway, but I have a few risks I wanna take, and I just don't wanna waste my time. Thanks

Is this good for a business major

I don't wanna waste my time, so it would be nice if you could tell me if this is a good EC or a side hustle. Thanks

Is reselling clothes on Grailed good, if I make a lot of money? I would do research and sell the clothes people wanna buy, + I would post on social media abt it to get my shop known, and I would do it in a way that grabs the attention of my target audience. I would analyze what works and what doesn't to get the best results.
