Why are points & miles influencers, podcasters, and bloggers obsessed with the Maldives?

18 hour, 19 hour, 20 hour flight travel time, at minimum, including one stop. That flips the calculus to unappealing for most sane individuals! Regardless of how nice it is! Plenty of other nice locations which are far less travel time!

Here’s why Bilt’s credit card business line / business unit gives us a look into how the rest of Bilt operates, executes, and is managed

Because it’s a pattern of issues amongst all of Bilt’s business lines. Companies are extremely rarely so disorganized in one line of business and extremely organized and doing well in another business line. You just don’t ever see that. … just like you’re the same person who you are 24/7, companies’ management teams pretty much always manage their business units within a range of the same organizational level across the board. Obviosuly there can be variability between units, but not drastic and dramatic variability.

Let’s take a large company with many business lines: including retail banking, credit cards, investment banking, institutional asset management (including mutual funds, etfs, alternative investments, etc), private banking, wealth management, securities trading, securities custody, treasury services, cash management, corporate banking/ commercial banking, auto lending, mortgage lending, etc etc etc. … (not as large and sprawling as Sandy Weill’s Travelers/ Citi, and Jamie Dimon often discusses that and the cohesion/ cohesive strategy of JPMorgan Chase’s businesses.)

At this point, you could say that JPMorgan Chase is a sprawling behemoth, given how many mergers and acquisitions it has gone through, and how many business lines/ business units it has cobbled together. (And in some cases it shows that it’s a bunch of businesses merged together over the years. It’s been well documented. Mergers are combining of different humans, different cultures, different businesses, different systems, different technology. And if you want a good example of that, go read the Financial Times article about Alex Rodriguez’s A-Rod’s wealth manager at JPMorgan, and the lawsuit from her from JPMorgan Wealth Management vs JPMorgan Private Bank. JPMorgan Wealth Management is legacy Bear Stearns’ Wealth Management unit, from when JPMorgan acquired Bear Stearns in the GFC Great Financial Crisis. And Bear Stearns Wealth Management (now JPMorgan Wealth Management) has a different culture, including a different compensation structure than JPMorgan Private Bank. In the FT article they outline how the suit alleges that JPMorgan Private Bank was trying to sell A-Rod financial products, which his financial advisor in the JPMorgan Wealth Management unit felt was like they were trying to poach her client, take away from her commissions and earnings. … a great example of clashing business units.)

JPMorgan Chase is roughly solid in all business units. It’s towards the top in all of its lines of business. It doesn’t have one unit which is a complete and utter disaster, while the rest of the company and its business units operate pretty well- towards the top of their industry and competitors. There’s no bastard child business unit.

No company ever has one business unit which is an industry leader and another business unit which is a complete and utter disaster. If there is disorganization or mismanagement at a company, it is almost always- pretty much always- not siloed to business unit/ it permeates across the entire company.

Any CEO of any company would focus on getting any struggling business unit of a company roughly in line with the operations and performance of the company’s other business units. So there’s no chance than Bilt’s other business units are humming along perfectly - absolutely perfectly, and Bilt’s credit card business is operating at such a disastrous level. That just doesn’t happen. Companies are never that lopsided. Does that make sense? Sure it’s possible that other business units at Bilt are operating better than its credit card unit, but it’s extremely unlikely that there is a night and day difference between the operations of one company’s business unit and the operations of another one of that company’s business units. No company is first in league tables in one business unit and a complete disaster in another business unit. Just doesn’t happen. They may not be first across all of their business units. But they aren’t excellent in one and a complete and utter disaster in another. Doesn’t happen. No good CEO or management team would allow that. And if the CEO is bad, disorganized, unfocused, then that is going to trickle down to the entire rest of the company across all business units. So you’re much more likely to see operations of business units to be more similar to another than to be markedly different from one another. Because of the company’s senior management and governance, including: CEO, COO, other c-suite and senior execs, the company’s board, the company’s operating committee, the company’s management committee, and in some companies, the company’s risk committee.

It’s farcical to think that one business line/ business unit of a company would be operating at an excellent level while another would be a complete and utter disaster.

Accor: Accor Diamond (highest tier) only gets free breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays and not weekdays. Platinum never gets free breakfast. … pretty pathetic compared to other hotel programs.

Mods: would be helpful if you suggested that when people are for dating advice they provided which culture they are asking for dating advice in, for context. Especially given that all cultures are different, including different dating norms and social norms.

Been a while since I’ve popped into this community or the N24 Discord community. Wanted to check in on any breakthroughs. Know Hetlioz Tasimelteon is still ungodly expensive.

Been a while since I’ve popped into this community or the N24 Discord community. Wanted to check in on any breakthroughs. Know Hetlioz Tasimelteon is still ungodly expensive.

My fear might be that any individuals who found any breakthroughs might no longer be as active or active in the Reddit or Discord, etc.

Anyone figure out who the leading physicians in N24 are?

Any new treatments or therapies in the pipeline?

Anyone know when Tasimelteon is going generic? Does Tasimelteon even work to begin with?

Would love an update, please!
Thank you!!

The medical community is doing patients a disservice by not explaining to patients that insomnia is an umbrella term, used when the doctor cannot figure out the underlying cause.

The medical community is doing patients a disservice by not explaining to patients that insomnia is an umbrella term, used when the doctor cannot figure out the underlying cause.

The expertise is highly concentrated in a very few elite sleep doctors. There are even rubbish sleep doctors at sleep medicine clinics at major brand name hospitals.

The resulting issue, is that the majority of doctors are unable to solve the underlying cause, and therefore, the diagnosis for the patients results in “insomnia”, instead of the patient pushing forward to relentlessly solve what the underlying cause is.

Amex, Delta card spending soars

Amex paid Delta $8.2 billion in 2025. Delta expects $9 billion from Amex for 2026. Send a message to Delta management and stop swiping your Delta Amex for purchases and transactions. Use other credit cards. Those SkyPesos you’re earning by using your Delta Amex are just that: devalued to mere pesos. And Delta would rather any incremental revenue rather than giving you an upgrade for your loyalty and your status- even selling upgrades to first for as little as $26. Use another credit card instead of your Delta Amex. Send a message to Delta management that you deserve to be treated better, instead of the product constantly eroding and degrading, as Delta management and airline industry management constantly cut costs, at your expense. Send a message to the airline industry as a whole- use a non-airline credit card.

Has anyone tried Clonidine HcL for sleep?

Has anyone tried Clonidine HcL for sleep? Do you know why I’m asking? Do you know what it suppresses? It’s typically only elite neurologists who understand what 1960s Alpha Blocker medication Clonidine HcL suppresses, off-label. There are a very few NIH PubMed medical journal articles on this- they’re hard to find. You would typically only see it effective to suppress one specific root cause of insomnia. Clonidine also makes the patient drowsy. So it can often be used in pediatric sleep disturbance, since it is not a controlled substance.
