world cup fever ft. lyari

I’ve always been fascinated by the football culture in Lyari. My earliest impressions of the area were shaped by media coverage of the gang wars that frequently dominated headlines, so discovering its sports culture was both unexpected and refreshing.

It is encouraging to see this culture continue to thrive, and I hope it receives the recognition, investment, and opportunities necessary to grow even further.

"Uncle mere pass sirf 100 rupay hain"

I was at an ice cream shop near my place with my friend. We were talking about how the job market's tough, our lives are difficult, we don't get to enjoy, etc. Same old things.

A little kid entered the shop with her sister. She went to the counter and asked for a single scoop ice cream. He said "150 hogaye aap ke" she said "Uncle mere pass tou sirf 100 hain" but they gave her the ice cream anyway.

Its funny how me and my friend became quiet and started reflecting on our conversations, spending habits and our privileged life. It was exceedingly difficult to digest the fact that those kids didn't even have 50 rupees more. Meanwhile, we spend upwards of 10-15k at restaurants and walk out like nothing.

Those kids actually enjoyed every bit of their ice cream. They were so excited, they could hardly wait till the guy gave them their ice cream.

It's the little things, they say. But honestly, its everything. If you are reading this you're probably using a phone or a laptop or some device. Most people in Pakistan still survive on that button wala chota phone. A lot of people barely have 3 meals a day. A lot to think about considering we get to decide what we'll eat everyday. Along with other big perks and privileges. Just wanted to share something that made me and my friend grateful, if even for a bit.

Acid Attack First Aid‼️

Women are emotional?? Men are logical!!
Never saw a woman throw acid on someone's face out of emotions. Khair, not trying to start another gender war here. We get enough of those already.

After the horrific acid attack on Dr. Mahnoor, I realized that while people spend hours arguing online, very few of us actually know what to do if we ever witness an acid attack or become a victim ourselves (Allah na kry) but still🫠

As a doctor, I’d add some crucial points:

1. Water, water, water. The single most important thing is immediate, continuous irrigation with clean running water.

2. Remove contaminated clothing, jewelry, watches, etc.

3. Do NOT apply creams, toothpaste or home remedies.

4. Avoid trying to neutralize the acid with another chemical.

5. Seek emergency medical attention ASAP.

May Allah protect us all from ever having to face such a situation. Ameen🩵 but if it ever happens in front of us, knowing the right steps could make a huge difference.

Was anyone else at luckyone earlier today? It's honestly crazy how that place caught fire. Glad everyone was alright as far as I know. We left our car in the basement and got back home. They've said that the malls going to open at 6 so we're gonna go get our car then.
