Brand new Miele Triflex HX3 Cat and Dog - Electrobrush going crazy on a vinyl floor.
Got a brand new Miele Triflex HX3 Cat and Dog today to replace our 'died well before its time' Dyson. It seems great on carpet. Really powerful and also quiet.
But in testing it out we moved onto our kitchen floor; just a standard 'vinyl on a roll' sort of durable floor with a few crumbs maybe - and the Electrobrush is just going crazy on it.
I know this vacuum has a sensor for detecting floor type - presumably upping power if it senses more resistance (ie carpet pile) but on this surface the head is literally going haywire spooling up to a crazy loud brush speed and suction, then powering down to something that feels like it's barely on - and back again, and again and again.
There is the slightest of humps in the floor - barely noticeable really but it feels like it 'thinks' that this is carpet because of a micro-change in resistance as it rolls over the hump?
I want to to believe it's faulty because to be honest - if this is 'normal expected behaviour' as the manual implies - then I'm probably going to have to return is as it is just not going to be workable.
I hate it when tech attempts to solve a problem with a sensor that wasn't a problem. If I had to press a little footswitch to tell it 'I'm on a carpet now' or 'I'm on a hard floor now' it'd be preferable to some little dumb sensor giving false reads.
Anyone experienced this sort of issue?
And I want to be clear - this was brand new out of the box today so no, the head isn't jammed with hair and no the battery isn't dying nor is the filter blocked. It was literally it's first test run, and we were so glad to be out of our Dyson hell - only to be thrown into a world of 'wtf?' with a Miele, usually so sublime and reliable.
