The Inventors of Reality TV, with their spouses Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John...

Google them, you wont find pics of them with a Kardashian, a Paris or a Real Housewife. The reason is because they dont like them. When David, then Sharon invented Reality Tv it wasnt to show off their wealth or be influencers, it was to HUMANIZE their spouses.

David had met Elton after rehab when Elton was trying to make peace with himself and was scared that his adoring public wouldnt love him if he wasnt ELTON JOHN 24/7.

And Ozzy was constantly thought of as a Satanic Evil man, pissing at the Alamo and biting heads off bats

Davids Reality Film, "Tantrums and Tiaras", and Sharon Osbournes "The Osbournes" humanized these 2 Rock Gods.

Elton John was born in this half of this Council House (Public Housing/Welfare) to Military Parents. They ate a lot of stew, cause they didnt have a lot of money. It was him, Sheila and sometimes Stanley, his two Grandparents and Aunt Winnie.

Ozzy Osbourne was born and grew up in this tiny rowhome with 4-5 siblings.

In about 1998, Actor Comedian, Jim Carrey decided to accompany Elton on Tour (Like Lennon and Ringo loved to do -Lennon would pick Eltons parents up from the airport and take them to dinner) The first day of the tour, Elton asked Jim to come out on stage and sing Rocketman.

Jim Carrey has said "Now I know why Rock Stars go insane. Standing on that stage and commanding that many people is powerful and fucks with your head" (Paraphrasing)

That exhilarating power can fuck you up. Especially if you have issues or are poor. Elton was shy and raised by an abusive Narcissist and Ozzy was shy, dyslexic and had had sexual abuse.

Insecure and shy Elton, and also Shy Bernie, went from sleeping in bunkbeds at his Mums tiny flat to THIS (in just 2-1/2 years)

I hate that John Reid is so far from Elton, here, and Kiki was dating Davey Johnstone and they had to appear like she was with EJ.

Their fame and then the drugs destroyed them both.

Go back and watch David Furnish's Tantrums and Tiaras. At times its tough to watch. Elton has been a professional musician since he was 10 years old. David wanted to take a nice romantic beach walk with him and Elton cant relax his mind. We see the TRUTH about Fame. The parts with Elton and his therapist show that FAME and RICHES solve nothing. Hes painfully insecure.

And look at Ozzy on The Osbournes! He never could stop drugs or drinking. He was such a great Dad and had overcome so much, but hes still that little boy from Birmingham. We saw that he wasnt a Satanic Evil man but a human.

But all the Reality shows that came afterwards were RICH, SPOILED Millionaires. Far from "reality"... Even the ones like HoneyBooBoo werent real.

Why did David and Sharons idea flip so fast? Was it MONEY and Fame or something else? Weigh in downstairs \/

Elton John has been out of rehab for 3 years and hasn't had a relationship for all 3. His adopted shelter dog Arthur (rest in peace you beautiful good boy) is his only companion. He calls the legendary RockStar Friend, Tony King and asks him to arrange a lunch with some new people, he is quite lonely and needs new friends. He cant hang around with his druggy friends anymore.

October 30th, 1993:

Elton John has that lunch and 5-6 new people attend and one is a gorgeous and very shy, 31 yr old Canadian University graduate and Film Maker/Marketing/Ad Executive at Ogilvy-London ad agency, David Furnish. He is wearing plaid. 

David has said that he didn't want to go to Elton's house cause he was sure he would meet some superstar narcissist who would regale him with how great he was, but he went anyway. Elton shocked David by only being interested in everything everyone else was doing, what they were listening to, thinking, reading, watching. David said Elton was warm and kind, encouraging in his career. He didn't talk about himself at all, he was hilarious and down to earth and shy. Elton was smitten right away with David, David was different than all the rest of his boyfriends, he had a JOB for one, and spoke his mind and didn't treat Elton like he was special. 

When they started dating, a day later, David kept his job at Ogilvy London as long as he could, but as soon as he was outed as Sir Elton Johns new boyfriend, he was constantly hounded by the press every day, everywhere he went. 

He had to fly home to Canada to come out to his parents just in case he was outed.

Imagine, 

"Mom? Dad? Im gay and Im dating World Wide Rock Legend Elton John!" 

Look, Im a lifelong Elton fan (1970-USA) No one knew anyone Elton John was seeing romantically (we only knew about his Ex Wife, Renate) And until Rocketman came out, I did not know about him and John Reid. So whoever tipped the Press off about David, made big bucks. 

So anyway, David Furnish was the only one of Eltons Boyfriends I witnessed him be with in public and on tv shows. It was lovely. Literally it was HUGE when the fans and public and the world, saw an out of the closet gay male superstar bring his boyfriend out in public. David Furnish was outed as Elton Johns Boyfriend, on a global stage. But, Ogilvy-London was losing their patience with the press outside their offices and phone calls.

1995-1996-1997:

So David had to quit his job. He tried to keep his flat, but the British press just were awful. So he moved in with Elton. 

David was never gonna be a Stepford Boyfriend with Speedo spending all day at the Pool. He liked to be busy. He confronted Elton at every turn. Forced Elton to say what he feels. David man! David took NONE of Eltons shit! None of it! Even Edna Dwight, Eltons Step Mom, said David was the best thing that ever happened to Elton. So David was getting tired of doing nothing. He started helping run the AIDS charity, but one day I think David said something like, dont quote me, "Its a shame people cant see the Elton I see" or something, because a large amount of the world at that time, saw Elton as a huge Diva and Drug Addict. I feel that David wanted people to see the funny and kind Elton. Well, it was Eltons response to that comment that spawned Elton and David to make the 1997 Release, Autobiographical reality documentary, Tantrums and Tiaras, all shot by David on a digicam of behind the scenes footage of Eltons life. Grueling tours, endless handshakes and awards and interviews, his moods, getting therapy, almost collapsing in Rio, tender moments with David (the short plane exchange is adorable) and yes, seeing Elton throw tantrums.

However, Elton to this day will watch clips and laugh at himself. He loves that movie! It was THE first, real life candid portrayal of a superstar as they are, all warts and all. 

The key here is that this Reality Documentary that spawned everything else HUMANIZED the Rock God.

It was the first time we had seen a superstars truly exhaustive and grueling schedule, and we actually saw a superstar throw a real fit. The first time we saw a superstar in therapy, kiss his boyfriend (Pink Suit Scene), vacuum (Elton loves to vacuum), and the first time wed ever seen a superstar, who has been touring since he was 15 yrs old, not be able to slow down his mind enough to take a nice beach walk with the love of his life. Its tough to watch at times. The scenes with his narcissistic Mom, show you why he drank and drugged so heavily. Its all about Sheila! But what Shines On Through (LOL, love that song) is Eltons HUMANITY, we can relate. Elton, in spite of his Megastar Status, is raw, human and real. He just wants to lay in bed in his robe in Atlanta and watch Beyonce Videos.

My fave parts are the ones with David, Elton and Bob Halley (EJs ex assistant) Just watch it. The ending with all 3 is my fave, cause Elton is chewing gum and Gum Chewing Elton is fun snarky Elton.

It also showed us how OCD he is. Look at his diaries!

It was fascinating to see. Especially for long time fans. It made us love him more and relate to him and his quirks. 

2000:

 MTv was watching and saw the film and it spawned the creation of CRIBS 

March 5, 2002:

David Furnish was now in an Elite club of spouses of superstars like Sharon Osbourne and Trudy Styler, Carl Dean, Patti Hanson, DooLittle Lynn and Jerry Hall. Well, Sharon saw CRIBS and she also saw the film that David had made about Elton and that sparked her to create The Osbournes tv show series. 

All the world knew about Ozzy pre-2002, was that he was a EVIL, SATAN WORSHIPPER, And corrupting people and kids.

Sharon Osbournes "The Osbournes" HUMANIZED OZZY. We now LOVE HIM!

Elton and David appeared on the show.

From here on out all Reality Shows reverse the humanization of celebrities, and only showed us narcissistic Moms, and corrupt, grotesque mostly rich kids and poor disenfranchised people, looking to strike it rich on the new gold rush of Reality Tv.

It was the new Side Hustle of millionaires. They could be real life JR Ewings!!!!!!!

2003: 

Paris Hiltons sex tape leaks. Paris is a Hotel heiress, not in showbiz. I think thats why she leaked the tape, to get in to showbiz MY Opinion

Later in 2003:  

Paris And her Celebrity BFF, Nicole Richie, Star in The Simple Life, a reality show

Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica airs and Jessica finds out its not Chicken 

2005: 

Hulk Hogan has a Reality Tv show called Hogan Knows Best 

Britney and Kevin: Chaotic Debuts, Britney was clearly high

2006: 

Gene Simmons launches his Family Reality Show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels

Andy Cohen Launches the Real Housewives Franchise  

Unknown Pennsylvanians The long suffering Jon Gosselin and The OG Karen Katie Kreider, launch the reality Tv Documentary Surviving Sextuplets and Twins, spawning Jon and Kate Plus 8 and the entire Obscenely Large family reality genre, and spiraling out of control to this day. 

2007: 

Former Paris Hilton assistant Kim Kardashians sex tape "leaks", spawns her entire familys reality tv career ruining thousands of men along the way (lol)

Bret Michaels launches his family Reality Tv Show,  Rock of Love with Bret Michaels

2008: 

TMZ aired a LiveStream from the front Gate of Britney Spears house, when she was melting down, ONTD Labled it a BRITUATION. Then Brituation 2 happened when they aired LiveStream from her breakdown being taken away in an ambulance. 

I think it was THIS that spawned YouTube to consider YouTube Live Streaming, spawning MommyVlogging and Clean With Me.

2009: 

TLC airs Toddlers and Tiaras, a show named like Elton and Davids OG Film, Tantrums and Tiaras...

ON and ON and ON Reality Tv just wont stop.

The reason David Furnish's Tantrums and Tiaras AND The Osbournes worked, is the fact that they were REAL, they were not acting or scripted, they were being themselves and showing real life. Elton was walking around in several scenes with a cut from shaving. Kelly was puking in the bathroom. Ozzy was messy and Sharon threw that ham over the fence! Jack and Kelly fought in the car about McDonalds McRibs! And Elton John was shown in therapy, crying. And wrestling with his personal assistant and Singing Dirty Santa Songs. But the best part is David standing near Ozzys piano in Ozzys house, while Elton plays Chopsticks on The Osbournes LMAO

Everything else sucked! It became fake, scripted, narcissistic, gross. I think thats why Elton hates Reality Tv, its lost its authenticity. Its far away from REALITY.  

Meanwhile All the Rich People who got famous on Reality Tv, like Real Housewives and Kardashians WERE rich and famous before their shows. THEYVE NEVER BEEN REAL.

Here is Elton and David on The Osbournes, its pure, real and great television. 2 shy men from the UK Projects, mega famous, but more real then any Real Housewife, Gosselin (Kates Dad owned real estate) Kardashian or Hilton.

So that is how Reality Tv started, with a bored workaholic David Furnish and a digicam...

David, now heads both Eltons AIDS Charity, and his multimedia company, Rocket Entertainment and has been repeatedly cited as one of the best managers in Rock. He was behind everything the Elton John fans have gotten in the past 31 years including the Book, Rocketman, The Boxed Sets, EVERYTHING.

Cold Heart was Davids idea.

They are the parents of (as Bernie Taupin says) 2 English Gentleman, Zachary and Elijah, and have 35+ dogs.

They send each other love notes every Saturday since they met in October 30th, 1993
