Transitiekosten?

Hi guys.

Why is life in Netherlands so expensive. It used to be so enjoyable 10 years ago. (Post vacation realisation about my life)

Thinking about life back home in Netherlands, is overwhelming.
I saved awhile to be able to go on vacation, and it's been incredible.
I got sick back in February, so I really needed a break.

I live in a small space in Netherlands, my room is extremely cluttered because my room is literally 3 m by 3 m, only my bed fits, a closet. Not even my desi fits, i bought a foldable desk so I can study.

my income is low. I'm studying currently (second year) to increase my overall life. I went back to university, I got sick in february so my contract didn't get extended. I spoke my doctor and the vacation was approved.

But it's sad to me that back home I have to watch every penny, getting by is exhausting. I live in the big city where everything is fast paced, and everyone is rushing. Most of my friends got married and are stay at home wives now, and the other part only parties and uses drugs.

I'm not sure why I went on reddit but I just feel like my life back home is not fulfilling. It's extremely stressful.
I miss the nature I'm experiencing here, the sun, and tbh even people are so much more friendly. I have made a bunch of friends in the gym, it's wild how easily it goed here. I got invited by people at the harbor.

I love netherlands, but my own life over there is so hard. It feels hard to break through the income barrier. And the housing problem. A lot is becoming extremely unaffordable. Groceries are expensive af.

Just wondering how you guys experience this?

Iemand enig idee?

How can I stop that every conversation about a decision turns into a 3-hour long debate going in circles with no decision no matter how reasonable I try to be.

My family vacation is turning into a nightmare because of my older brother. I need advice. (ps sorry about this long post, I just have no one to even talk about this with.)
No matter what happens in my family, everything somehow turns into an argument. I honestly feel like we’re constantly walking on eggshells around my older brother, and I think a lot of us don’t even realize how much we’re enabling his behavior.
A few months ago, we started planning a family vacation. Everyone contributed money to the vacation budget. Originally, the destination country was decided, but not the exact city since we wanted to stay for about four weeks.
My older brother has a fear of flying and was the one pushing the hardest for this vacation. To accommodate him, my younger brother and my mom even sold my mom’s small car and bought a larger one so we could drive instead of fly.
The problem is that as soon as the car was sold and the bigger one was bought, my older brother started backing out and becoming negative about everything. He suddenly didn’t like destinations he had previously agreed to, wanted to switch countries, and every discussion turned into sabotage rather than a healthy conversation about what he actually wanted.
Two days ago, we all agreed on Marbella. Yesterday, I booked the first accommodation for seven days (I’m paying for it myself). I had even sent him the links beforehand. I genuinely thought he’d be happy.
Instead, as soon as he came home, he got angry and said it was too expensive, that I never listen to him, and that his opinions are always ignored.
The frustrating thing is that he had previously sent me a list of about 11 cities that he wanted me to research, while he barely did any work himself. Marbella was literally on that list. I spent hours looking into everything with my younger brother.
When I asked him to explain exactly what he wanted instead, the conversation once again turned into him saying nobody listens to him and acting like the victim.
My mom finally told him that he’s ruining the vacation again, just like he has done in previous years. That only made him angrier. He then started bringing up old incidents completely out of context, like my mom once calling him selfish.
I explained that she said that because he wanted our sick mother to clean his closet for him. I said that if someone expects their sick mother to do that, then yes, that’s selfish behavior. He immediately started yelling at me, calling me the most selfish person in the family and telling me to shut up.
The conversation went in circles for three hours. Every time I asked him to simply tell us what he wanted, he would avoid answering and deflect.
I feel trapped. I’ve already spent money on this trip. My mom constantly tries to please him even though he’s 32 years old and regularly yells at her and treats her badly. Then he apologizes later, and everyone acts like nothing happened.
This pattern happens almost daily.
This morning I woke up and saw that many of the accommodations my younger brother and I spent hours researching are now sold out.
At this point, I’m honestly wondering if I should just go by myself or with my younger brother and mom, without him.

Can you guys please advice me...?
How to deal and I know I should move out soon because my mother isn't making any rational decision because she lets guilt lead her.

(If you want more background+ context about the dynamic, I posted this before: this happened yesterday - when all that needed to happen was to make a decision about a vacation.......)
My mom got married at 18. She was in an abusive marriage with my father. He physically and verbally abused my mother, and us. As in beatings, etc. One day he pulled a knife on my mom which I vividly remember, and put it against her neck. This was when my mom divorced him. He still tried to manipulate her, knocking every day on the door. Sleeping in the storage. Etc. (The storage is outside of the complex) anyways my mom was so lovely to always try so that we (me and my two brothers) would have a dad in our life. Anyways he chose to move out of the country and broke contact with all of us. Last time we saw him was when my grandpa(moms side) died in 2017 for maybe 5 seconds.

My mom survived all this abuse thank god and found the strength to leave him. While she was not supported by any family: being divorced was a shame. Mind you she was 29-31 when she decided this.

My mom has since her divorce never ever dated anyone.
Now this is the really sad part. My mom has put us on number 1 always. This breaks my heart because she never got to live her own life as she became a single mom in extreme poverty.

Now, AFTER the divorce (maybe 10 years later).I remember that there was one guy that came over. He was the fixer of the house. It's important to note that nothing ever happened. But I think my mom was falling in love with this guy, I was 14-15 so I don't remember this exactly. He was extremely kind like I said we were in poverty and he bought me a bike. He was super nice.

The problem is my brother (32) is extremely rude and belittling and verbally aggressive to my mom. There are daily arguments of hours. It breaks my heart because my mom deserves so much better. My mom is calm but he tries to get her to snap every time.

Today he said the reason he treats my mom like this is because she was with a man when he was a child. (The guy I mentioned above)

I just don't even know what to say. He has been verbally aggressive making my mom's life a living hell, while she is extremely loving towards him. I think he is a narc. He gaslights every situation into my mom being the aggresson. Stating factual behavior is a reason for him to snap. To break your character.
If anyone wonders why he still lives at home it's because he had a psychosis and my mom was the sole care taker of him for 3 years. My mom is afraid to let him go because she is afraid he will use drugs.

My mom broke in tears for hours today after he left the house. He told her you just want me to use drugs again.

I don't know what I want to hear from you guys. I wish someone could advise me because this is such an unhealthy living situation. I want to help my mom but I just don't know how. I can't believe he is holding it over my mom's head that she had been in a talking stage with one singular man after her divorce. This was something that happened 15 years ago......

(More weird behavior, when I was 18-20F he followed me around which I didn't know to monitor me.
Today he said he gets very suspicious of my moms whereabouts when she doesn't answer the phone (how sick)

Guys please help me. I just need to protect my mom. Idk how. It's so toxic

Link to advice i have gotten from redittors.

How can I get the perfect jammy eggs every time?

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't even though I get them out almost around the same time.

On TikTok someone recommended me to place egg in with high heat on until the water has come to a rolling boil, then to low heat. For 6 minutes but now they never come out jammy again.
Should I take them out at 3?

Being alive is starting to feel so special and weird?

Idk how to explain but being alive on earth for a limited time and then perishing is tripping me out a lot lately: i can't stop thinking about it, while it doesn't worry me, it makes me grateful. I have been learning a lot about trees lately, and different flowers. I love being alive but I wish I could experience more every day.
I have such a limited time on earth and I wish I had more there is so much to do, so much to see, so many people to meet - how can one combine this with work/study. I feel like I can only snap out of mundane stuff once July hits.

How are ppl able to combine really enjoying what life has to offer without getting swallowed into 9-5 only drinking on weekend culture. How can my life be more whimsical

So anything sort of like this (or better) would be right up my alley. Preferably movies before max 2014. Ty guys. :)

Ziek uit dienst? Hoe verder
