The myth that chimpanzees are "5x to 8x stronger than humans" and can casually rip people apart is complete 1920s junk science.

Here is a breakdown of the actual science, biology, and biomechanics behind why the "invincible chimp" narrative is a total illusion:

• The 1.35x Reality: Modern biology (specifically a 2017 study by O'Neal) proves that pound-for-pound, a chimp’s upper body muscle is only about 1.35 times stronger than a human's, not 5x or 8x.
• The Size Disadvantage: An average wild male chimp only weighs between 88 to 132 lbs. Because they are so light, a 185-lb athletic human can easily out-lift, out-push, and produce more absolute total force than a chimp.
• Leverage vs. Speed: A chimp's biceps attach lower on the forearm. This gives them great pulling torque for climbing, but it completely murders their speed. Humans evolved short levers, giving us blistering rotational velocity. Chimps cannot punch or throw effectively; they are mechanically stiff.
• Hardware vs. Software: Humans are biological catapults with elastic shoulder tendons and a highly developed motor cortex that allows for complex, fractionated movements (like boxing or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). Chimps lack this neurological wiring, chimp nervous system operates on an "all-or-nothing" muscle recruitment, meaning they have zero precision or coordination.
