Free trial added, but I didn't request it.

I purchased another mini camera for my home and just added it to my exisiting account and a message came up saying I am getting a free trial for their subscription service. I never requested it, nor was there any option to decline it. I can't find anything anywhere on my BLINK acct. that will allow me to remove it. Does anyone know how I can remove the free trial?

Which brands seem to have the most problems?

I am considering buying a new stackable washer/dryer, most likely the old school looking ones. I'd like to find out from you guys that repair washers/dryers what brands seem to be the least reliable. I know they don't make them like they used and I'd hate to spend $1400 for the stackable unit to only last a few years without needing repairs. Thanks.

I just setup my new Coway 400 air purifier BUT

The light is blue, which I understand means my air is clean. I'm confused because I have a cat and quite a bit of fur and dust in my home. I would have thought that the light would indicate that my air is less than perfect and needs to be cleaned. I have it turned on at about medium speed and the light is still blue. Has anybody setup the 400 model this year? Can you give me any insight? I hate to think I spent so much money and it isn't detecting bad air.

Who should I hire to replace my bathroom flooring

I'm pretty sure the plywood in my upstairs bathroom should be replaced due to previous leaks. The glued on baseboards will need to be carefully removed, then the one piece vinyl will need to come off, and I'm thinking some if not all of the plywood should be replaced, maybe just a part of it, not sure. I want to replace the same vinyl flooring. It is free floating and in very good condition. What type of Contractor should I hire to do this? Can a handyman do something like this? I don't want to hire a large Contracting company. Suggestions please?

Main water shutoff on property for my building caused me damage

I live in a condo with an HOA. They hired a plumbing company to repair leaks in pipes on the outside property. When they were finished, they turned on the Main water shutoff to our buiilding and when they did I heard the pipes gurgling. Later I realized water was gushing out of my garage ceiling so I ran upstairs to find that my toilet was gushing water so I turned off the shut off valve to my toilet. My kitchen faucet also stopped running water once I turned it on. I contacted my HOA to see if they would pay for the repairs, but they refused. The HOA President then mumbled something to the effect of "You can sue the plumbing company if you want". I am not sure what part or parts of the toilet were disrupted(damaged) by the power surge. I have not used it since this occured. I have been experiencing much more allergy issues with my eyes burning and itching and sinus irritation. My bathroom is right next to my bedroom. I am now concerned that there may be mold growing underneath the flooring. The bathroom flooring is a full vinyl sheet. I am really concerned. Is it feasable to contact the plumbing company and ask for their insurance so that I can file a claim? Who should be held accountable for these repairs? I already had to have someone replace my kitchen faucet.

FB is not posting my post to several groups that I've never had an issue with before,

I've joined several Political groups and have been sharing other posts or memes I come across but all of a sudden they won't put them through. They say something like they have to limit the number of posts they can allow. It started at least a week ago and I am still getting this message. Does anybody know what the deal is?

Friendship with an older lady

I'm feeling very uneasy because I have developed a friendship with an older lady over the past 2-3 years. She is divorced and lives alone. She also has several pets that she takes very good care of.. He is financially secure. Her health is starting to get a little more concerning. She has no family or close friends here. The issue I am having is that she wants me to be there for her if she has to go to the hospital, to take care of her pets, etc. She has two Big dogs. Over the past couple of years I've read news articles of Pet Sitters or someone else who has been attacked and ripped apart by dogs in the home, even if the Pet Sitter had been there before. I know that if she were to become ill and maybe faint and I were to come to the house, her dogs will probably be scared and confused and go into protection mode and possibly attack me or anyone else that comes into the home. I told her I didn't want to handle things. This was a few months ago when she called saying she was feeling bad and thought she was going to call the EMS. She got throught that and didn't call the EMS. I mentioned to her she should consider getting a home health aide to go by a few times a week and also sent her some websites of different companies that help find these services for you. I also told her she needs to find someone to take care of the dogs is something happens. Anyway, I thought that issue was settled.

Well, she called me a couple of days ago telling me she was feeling dizzy and really worried, etc. She wanted me to go over incase she passed out. I didn't want to do that. I told her she should consider getting a medical alert bracelet. She said it wouldn't do her any good now. I understand that, but I'm sure I mentioned this the last time. Oh my goodness! We hung up. The next day I contacted her and told her I was going to the grocery store and if she needed anything I could pick it up for her. She did want some items. I shopped for them, took them to her. I felt better and felt things were okay. Well, as I was getting ready to leave we talked and talked and she came back to needing someone to be there for her if/when she feels dizzy or unsteady, AGAIN, suggesting that she wants me to handle this. I am not good at handling medical issues or sick people and am not comfortable because of this and the other issue I mentioned. I tired telling her without being rude, and finally told her I had to leave. I don't know what else to do. Most certainly she will call again when she feels bad. Any suggestions? I've tried giving her suggestions of what she can do to get things in place for when she will actually have to go to the hospital. I've done grocery shopping for her and have accompanied her to a store quite a distance away since she didn't feel that great and wanted me there to drive her car if she started feeling bad. I value our friendship and I had to deal with my parents and we hired my Mother a caregiver as soon as her health started declining. I don't like being put in this position. Any other suggestions other than what I've tried?

Leather seats in my car have fine scratches, needing to repair

My seats are in good condition, but my cat got into the car when I left the windows open when my battery had died. I didn't think anything of it. When I drove it to the store to replace my battery and it was parked in the sun, I noticed a lot of fine scratches from his claws. Is there any product I can use to disguise those scratches? I am so upset that this happened. Any suggestions to help will be appreciated.

What is your opinion of the layered cut I just had done.

I just had my hair cut and feel like the back layers look butchered. The layers don't fall into each other as I've had in the past and I mentioned it to the Stylist and she said it's cut evenly and it probably looks that way because a lot of the highlights are cut off.

The more I look at it, the more I think it's a really bad cut. She did texture the ends and I think since she textured them by point cutting, the ends now look jagged and damaged which is very disappointing. Who wants to go to a Salon with healthy hair only to come out with it looking damaged.

I was planning on getting highlights but now I'm afraid the highlights will only exaggerate the bad cut. The sides and front seem to be okay. On a scale from 1 to 10 please tell me how you think this cut rates. 1 the lowest score to10 the best score.

Will hard water cause etching on granite or quartz?

I'm hoping to get a new countertop for my kitchen. I got to thinking after reading various posts stating that many customers end up getting etched marks or staining on their new countertops. From everything I've read, it seems to me that granite will be the most durable, but I am wondering if I will have a problem with etching. I leave a plastid/rubber dish pan on top of my counter throughout the day to be able to wash, then place them in the dish drain pan to drain into the sink. I have hard water. Will this cause any type of etching or stains?

What is the best technique to touch up grown out highlights

I'm hoping to get advice on the best way to blend in new highlights with my old which have grown out for over a year. I have dark brown hair and now I can see a few strands of gray popping up here and there. I don't care for orange, caramel, or yellow highlights.

Before I set up an appointment with a Stylist, I want to make sure that whatever we do will result in a more lived in look and NOT show an obvious demarcation line as my hair grows out. I do not go to the Salon but maybe once a year. I also want to know that whatever I do, will look the best considering I now am getting a few gray strands. FYI, I do NOT like gray or silver hair and do not want to dye my hair to look more gray since gray colors look ugly against my complexion.

In the past I've always highlighted my hair with blond highlights and have been happy, but now I think a yellowish blond tone may not be my best option.
I've come to learn there are so many terms for highlighting such as chunky highlights, baby highlights, dimensional highlights, ombre, balayage. Sheesh! If any of you have knowledge of what will work best for me, PLEASE, send me your suggestions. Thanks.

This Ex Marine is so right ...

I need to say something that's been bothering me for a while, and I'm saying it as a Marine Corps veteran who leans center-right.

This isn't partisan. This is observation.

We've slow-faded into accepting militarized police as normal, and nobody seems to notice or care.

Even as a USMC pilot, I went through six months of infantry training as an officer before flight school. I've worn the gear. The helmet, the tactical vest, the whole kit. And I can tell you from experience, it changes you.

There's a psychological shift that happens when you strap that stuff on. You feel different. You carry yourself different. You start seeing the environment differently. In the Marine Corps, that shift was appropriate because it's a combat culture and organization.

But these are American streets. American citizens. And we've got law enforcement dressed like they're kicking down doors in Fallujah to serve warrants in suburbia.

What happend to high standards and real policing tactics? Think Adam-12...Officers Reed and Malloy. Crisp uniforms. A revolver. A baton. High standards and professionalism. They looked like public servants because they were public servants. They de-escalated. They talked to people. They were part of the community.

Now? Tactical gear, beards, ball caps, Oakley sunglasses, sleeve tattoos, and a tactical kit that would make special operators jealous. And we've turned it into a fetish. We celebrate it. We assume that because someone looks hard, they must be a professional.

They're not.

I loved the Marine Corps. But I'll be honest, I was also blinded by it for a while. Mission first. Unit over everything. And that mentality made sense in that context.

But law enforcement doesn't get that critical examination. "Back the Blue" has become a shield against accountability. A blanket assumption that a badge plus gun equals hero. That tactical gear equals competence.

It doesn't.

Most people who join law enforcement aren't special operators. They're average people who desperately want to belong to something bigger than themselves. I understand that impulse deeply, it's why I joined the Marines. But wanting to belong doesn't make you qualified. Looking the part doesn't mean you can perform under pressure. And wrapping yourself in warrior aesthetics doesn't make you a warrior.

Old school law enforcement represented something. Standards. Bearing. Discipline. Professionalism that was demonstrated, not costumed. A revolver and a baton meant you had to rely on your training, your words, your judgment, not overwhelming firepower.

What I see now in law enforcement is the costume without the culture. The gear without the training. The authority without the accountability.

Are there good people in law enforcement? Of course. I know some personally. But this reflexive "law enforcement can do no wrong" mentality is lazy, dangerous, and intellectually dishonest.

A woman is dead. And before we sort ourselves into teams and start assigning blame, maybe we should ask harder questions:

Why do we accept a militarized police force as normal?

Why do we assume tactical gear equals tactical competence?

Why have we let "Back the Blue" become a substitute for actual standards?

I wore the uniform. I went through the training. I know what that gear does to your head.

It shouldn't be normalized on American streets against American citizens.

And we shouldn't pretend everyone wearing it is qualified to carry it. The fact that he called her a “fucking bitch” after he shot her three times should be a huge red flag for all of us.

Funny thing happened to me today

I finally got my haircut today with a new Stylist. We discussed the cut she would do and I told her I want to go back to have my hair highlighted. Anyhow, she cut my hair and then we walked up to the counter to pay and I'm thinking to myself, here we go again. She's going to expect 20 percent. It was very slow in the salon when I first got there. Toward the end of my haircut, blow dry, a couple more ladies came in. Anyhow, she turns the screen to me to sign and the tip screen is up. I see 20, 25, and 30 on the screen. I'm looking for the custom tip key and don't see it. So, I try to scroll the screen left expecting to see some other options and what happened is it did NOT scroll but accepted 30 percent tip. That was where I placed my finger to scroll it. Oh Man! You've got to be kidding!!

I tod the Stylist what happened and I wanted her to void it so that I could tip 20 percent. She said she can't void it or make a change. So now the whole tipping thing is being discussed in the small salon for everyone to hear. The Mgr. is working on a lady's hair and ask what the problem is and she told her and the Mgr. said it can't be changed. I told her there has to be a way to make a change. She then said she will call the owner and see what the owner says. I told her she can call or text me back later today. I told her, if not, then I will call my credit card company to make the change.

Sheesh! What a mess. I really loved standing there with the spot light on me for wanting some of my tip back. LOL. It is now close to midnight and the Mgr. never got back to me.

Ugh.

I'm so frustrated trying to find a Countertop for my kitchen

I've been looking for a long time now and originally was hoping to just replace the countertop and leave the backsplash. I've talked to several Contractors, etc. Some would tell me that they think they will be able to remove the countertop without damaging the backsplash. Most told me there will be a difference in height after I remove the old laminate countertop to the new quartz or granite countertop. I've been back and forth trying to make the right decision, but finding something to match my existing backsplash has been difficult. I finally decided that I should go ahead and have them cut out my tiled backsplash and replace the drywall and the countertop, but many don't do both, I have to find someone else to demo the backsplash and replace the drywall. Another problem, cause I then have to try and coordinate two different Contractors/Handymen to do the job.

What do I have done first? If the countertop contractor removes the countertop as part of their job and costs, then I would have to bring in the drywall guy to do his thing, then get back with the countertop contractor. SMH.

I finally went to this little company I had seen a while back and had texted abobut doing my countertops. I decided that I want granite, not quartz. They said they have someone that can do the backsplash. They will charge me for both jobs. I looked at their granite slabs and only one was a little more to my liking. They priced everything out and I was considering going with them, even though, I stil wasn't crazy about the granite.

A week later I went to a Supply yard to look at granite slabs and I saw the Fantasy Brown I was considering having installed that the previous shop showed me. The Rep at this shop told me it is NOT granite but a Dolomite. What? Later I looked it up and found that it is a Dolomite. I can't believe these folks were going to sell me this slab as granite. I would have been pissed if I had contracted with them and later found out my countertop is Dolomite instead of Granite. How are we supposed to know that these Companies are telling us the truth about the slabs we are interested in buying??

After main water shut off was turned back on to our property, my toilet started gushing water ...

I live in a 2 level condo. Once the water was turned on, I heard gurgling in the pipes and then I heard something else going on. I ran to my garage and noticed water gushing out of my garage ceiling. I ran upstairs and saw water running from the hose that goes to my tank. I turned off the valve to the toilet. I believe when they turned the main valve to turn the water back on, the pressure was really strong and caused my hose to malfunction. I hadn't had any problems with that toilet prior to this.

I dried the water off my bathroom floor and in the garage. Later I went to home depot to see about buying another water fill hose that goes from the wall valve to the bottom of the tank. I talked to an employee while there and he said he worked for the Water Company and they saw this kind of thing happen often at apartment complexes when they turn the water back on too quickly. He said it has to be turned on slowly or the pressure will be too strong and can cause issues in the apartments. He said the HOA should pay for repairs, because after they turned the water back on, my kitchen faucet was no longer working. I finally got them to reply to my emails and they said they will not pay for repairs.

Since then, I have done nothing other than buy a new kitchen faucet and have the old one replaced. It's now maybe 3 months later and I'm experience more allergy like symptoms. My eyes are very itchy and my throat and nasal passage are irritated and I do not have a cold. I'm starting to wonder if mold might be growing. I have full sheet vinyl flooring in the bathroom. What should I do. I've heard of mold testing. Is this something I can do with a kit? I know that if I decide to call some type of water restoration company, they will most likely charge out the behind for any little thing that they do. I cannot easily lift the flooring because it turns out the guy that installed my flooring attached the baseboards with liquid nails so I can't pull off the baseboards. I can imagine that if I call anyone out they will want to tear everything apart including the garage ceiling. I also know that calling a claim into the insurance company is not a good idea.

Mouse pad - Scrolling issues

I'm so frustrated. All of a sudden when I scroll my mousepad on my laptop, it is jerking and not scrolling smoothly and when it jerks up it by passes the next item I want to look at. I have tried going to my settings and making some changes, but I am obviously not doing something right. Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated. Do you think this is something that I can fix or will I have to take it in to get repaired I've never had this problem on any of my laptops in the past.
