CELLPHONE SIM CARD WARNING - AFFECTING T-Mobile OR OTHER PHONE CARRIERS

I have received a letter by mail from T-Mobile with a sim card attached saying Metro PCS is now own by T-Mobile and to prevent loss of service I need to install their SIM CARD is it legit or a scam??

Receiving an unexpected SIM card in the mail is not standard practice for T-Mobile and is a major red flag. Scammers can get your info from data breaches. It is likely part of a SIM-swapping setup or an identity theft attempt where a scammer tries to trick you into activating a card they control.

• Account Takeover: If you activate the random SIM card, your phone number may transfer to the scammer's device. They can then intercept your text messages and two-factor authentication codes.
• Financial Risk: Once they control your phone number, they can try to access your email, bank, and social media accounts.
• Not From T-Mobile: Legitimate carriers do not randomly mail unrequested live SIM cards to people without a prior order or account upgrade request.

What You Should Do Now

• Do not activate or insert the SIM card into your phone.
• Do not call any phone number printed on the random letter, as it may connect you directly to the scammers.
• Contact T-Mobile directly using their official customer service line (1-800-937-8997) or via the T-Mobile Support page to verify if anyone opened a line or requested a change on your account.
• Secure your account by asking T-Mobile to place a port freeze, number lock, or account takeover protection on your cellular line.

Saturday we started a new tradition: Porch Fest Farmington.

Four porches, 4 bands, 4 hours of music - a traveling performance through the neighborhood, free to attend.

Back when James Aren first came to City Council and pitched the idea, people volunteered their porches. Fast forward to August 8, and 100+ people spread out across SkepSpace lawn across the street from Riley Park, with camp chairs and sunhats and the enthusiasm for a new hometown event that you can always count on Farmington to bring.

Here is a clip of the performance. Sorry for the camera's shakiness it was either my tremor disorder or an earth quake, Whichever you believe.

I received Social Security Benefits due to my Disabilities in Michigan. In June 2026, I received an Email that I won $2,730 from an ATM Class action settlement and right off I figured it was a scam. But after searching online that other people did receive large amounts of money. I had it direct deposited into my checking account. (I only had $30 in my account so if I was going to get scammed, they only get $30). Any ways I found out if I make over $2,000 in one year my benefits would get cut. So Social Security Rules any income you must report it within 10 days or risk losing your benefits, Which I did. So they cut my benefits for July 2026 and now August 2026. I had rent, phone, 11 credit cards I had to pay and no SSI to pay it and I already spent some of the money in the class action settlement. I was able to pay from the settlement July & August bills and now terrified that there will be no ssi to help me recover in September. I don't know what I'll do at this point. I live in a HUD apt, already lost my medical insurance when I reported it to SSI. I asked my local church who referred me to St, Vincent DePaul and they were no help. except to offer food pantry, which doesn't help pay the bills, I'm not able bodied to work anymore as I have so many medical problems I'm on oxygen 24/7. So literally I'm screwed. Any advice would be most grateful. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to read this!
