Truwoman Efftect

I’m developing a horror/dystopian story idea about an ultra‑wealthy person who becomes quietly obsessed with one normal individual. Not kidnapping, not violence — just influence. They use a tiny fraction of their power to subtly shape the environment around this person: neighbors, coworkers, local businesses, information flow. The person never knows they’re being watched, but their entire life bends around the attention of someone they’ve never met. It’s Truman Show, in a way— and the watcher is just one person.

This is an exploration in money and influence. I think it'd be a good black mirror episode.

I finally got rich and famous, but I can't stop thinking about my highschool crush.

So I bought every house on her street and filled them with actors who text me updates on what she's doing, it's been really great.

I love money so much, I would do almost anything for it, well not some things.

That's perfect, what if we traded you a million doll hairs — it’s a lot of money trust us; now right this way please and of course thank you as well.

Free reading!

So I have a story idea. The title idea is The Fortune Storyteller.

Here I would like to do a roleplay of the mechanics with anyone who thinks this would be fun.

I love reading about fortune telling and if I came across a person like this I'd want to give it a go so I thought maybe others might feel the same.

You'll ask questions about the story I link, like you might Google a question, and I'll answer, if you want to ask a follow up about what the answer means I'll try to give a breakdown based on literary metaphors and symbolisms that I know.

So I'm not a real fortune teller. I'm trying to be a writer.

The phattest king

This is a book or anime idea!

Once upon a time there was a phat king. He was so phat because he took the first bite of every subjects meal. It was the rule that these people would not taste even a tiny tiny morsel of food before the king had sampled the dish, snack, or whatever the term for a food group on your plate or in your hand that you were about to eat is called where you're from. (Drinking water was anyone's business but you do that on your own time)

It was a very busy kingdom as you can imagine! Everyone focusing on what mattered most. Food production and everything around food.

But there was one sad person who made meals less than well. Always adding a spice that didn't make sense because they'd enjoyed it in another delicacy and thought it would work here too. But every time it came out weird to the taste, and everyone else thought so, it was hard at some point getting others to try their dish and give them feedback.

So of course they dedicated themselves to spending every moment of everyday learning about their favorite foods.. tough to do in this world, you have to wait for the right timing to sample others dishes.

Skip some ways and we find out the king always loved this person's food! Thought it was one of the best bites they got 3 times a day.

Edit: they're allowed to try each other's dish if the king has already sampled it. It's a bit of an honor code sort of thing

For a possible episode of this anime, maybe the king is sad, and we have to see his perseverance as he clears bite after bite while being depressed about a kingly thing.

Edit: the reason the king eats the food is because there is a deadly random poison in the world and no one can tell if it will be in their next bite, so they share it with the king as a trust exercise, is how this all started. But they all realized there was no poison after a long time of doing it and now they just keep the custom cause it works and they like it. There's other reasons too.

A war for 2

I'm working on this story idea and I'd like any feedback y'all want to provide. I think this story has some uncomfortable parts in it, so I would warn about that. I feel like I need to get graphic just a touch for the story. It's essentially some very minor body horror and to me the psychological stress of this story the way I see it is quite distressing but otherwise clean.

This story is back before technology or writing. I had a thought to form out a good tribe of people like our idea of bonobos. Like these people are the creme de le creme of this world. Hunter gatherers but it's surprisingly social system between groups of people. All the people are pretty good across the whole area these people may roam.

There are two people specifically out of this tribe that are the best at procuring food and they are everything to each other. These peaceful people put these two on a pedestal because of the traits that make them good at getting food.

One day there is a fight between these two. One kills the other. The one left alive proceeds to take care of the body as if it were still alive. Subconsciously maybe hoping it would bring them back but death is understood in this world so it makes no sense, they're on grief autopilot. One way they take care of their dead friends body is to feed it foods. Over time the plants that were fed to the friend grow out of their body and they learn farming, more or less. This particular part is an old native Indian story, not original to me at all. The plants growing out of the body, the rest is more or less original. I guess it all sort of has a native American Indian vibe to the people. But it would definitely be different because I don't know enough about those people personally I just love their culture, what I know without living in it. I worry about cultural appropriation I suppose. Polynesians actually have another story similar come to think of it.

Edit: more context is that there are multiple groups all through the regions. They are all strangely peaceful for what we would think of people from the past, but they have good reasons, not a lot of strife for one thing. There is LOTS of food everywhere and they all know how to get it.

I think I want them peaceful no matter what but I'm not sure how much strife to give them. Or how to give it to these type of people. Not a lot of things bother them, they're a very sound type of people.

If they had some sort of standard strife it might just be the simple task of picking up the food. They'll do it but that's something that annoys all of them. Having to pick up and eat the food this might just be a joke. An element of satire in the story, but would that annoy people? Or would they read it and think, "ya some people are so lazy like these folk, making these two go get all their food" or hopefully this all seems very far removed from personal life for the most part. It is set way back but we can all relate but this is an exploration mostly for me personally on what the first people might have looked like. I hope to find the universally interesting parts and make a story a lot of people enjoy reading is my goal though to be blunt.

Edit: another title idea is two can war. A play on two can dine

The fortune story teller

Context is that there's a storyteller, who provides fortunes to people through his stories.

He has a collection of stories like a fortune teller might have tarot cards 😁. He tells the client to pick a story. The client picks and the storyteller gives the description. The client asks questions about the story and in this interaction there is a fortune telling.

I feel like there would have to be good rules to the questions the client would be able to ask or else a person could become redundant, but i don't think the rules would have to be extensive, shorter the better of course. The storyteller would have to have a good way to explain these rules 🤣

Maybe the teller doesn't need rules idk.
