If someone told me this was a promotional image for Spore I wouldn’t have questioned them
(Ok I would’ve because ain’t no way I’d be able to remake half of these accurately ingame and I’m a paleo nerd but still. This has to be the most SporeTM thing I’ve seen that isn’t from Spore itself)
Something about the Lux skins plus cherry blossoms just works imo (Also obligatory Spinoraptor appreciation post)
First ever melanistic vipera ammodytes documented in Bulgaria
This is an unbeliavable find. It's the first ever documented specimen for bulgaria, and considering a photo of a melanistic v.ammodytes can't be found on the internet i'd say worldwide.
All credits go to Vlado Rusev,a bulgarian herpetologist and 'snake rescuer'
For a while now I’ve had these rodents help themselves to the bird food. My family calls them voles but everyone online has different opinions on them soo what are they!? [England]
Soo, just kinda curious what these little rodents I’ve seen around my feeder are. My nan calls them voles and I never really questioned it but a fair few people have said they are something else (ie wood rats, which aren’t found here, brown rats, dormice, house mice, even water voles) soo I thought I’d do a post here to see what everyone thinks about them. (Tons of details below because I know the photos are terrible lol)
Their shorter tail, weird posture and downwards facial curve is kinda throwing me through a loop here, especially when the chubby cheeks. I don’t think they are cheek pouches (because not even voles have them) but they do at-least look like them. Also this garden is in the middle of scenic nowhere soo idk if rats would even be here tbh.
Colouration is reddish brown with a white underside, the tails are both hairy and scaly at the same time looking almost armadillo like.
They are mostly nocturnal, but occasionally seen in the day at late afternoon. They aren’t particularly scared of the birds (minus the Robin). I’ve only seen them eat seeds and nuts with them pushing stuff like mealworms aside. They are agile enough to climb ontop of the fence but not in the tree and can seemingly jump from heights without issue (well, for them anyway, gives me a heart attack tho).
Soo far I’ve seen a larger male, smaller more slender female and a youngster that follows the female everywhere. Only one baby strangely enough. The male used to be seen with the female at first but now they come at separate times.
There’s no scats (thank god) to be found and they seem to only come through a hole in the fence to the woodlands behind the house. No nibble marks ether, little guys seem to just show up from time to time, stuff their lil faces and then dip.
I don’t really care all that much what they are as long as they stay outside tbh. They don’t seem to be causing that much of an issue and it’s just kinda amusing seeing them roaming around the place. I just wanna get a concrete answer here
(Also yes, they have names, Gregory, Hampter and Lil Greggs,. Gregory is the big chunky male, Hampter is the smaller female with a kinky tail and Lil Greggs is, well the baby. And yes, I have a lot of free time lol)
Looks like a wither skeleton with a gun
Apparently Sparrows can throw punches like Pigeons can. Feisty ladies today
(Also my grandmother was out so if anyone is curious why the feeder was running low, that’s why. It got refilled not long after this)
The best thing about having a bird camera is that you can see all the birds that have been visiting through th- actually nevermind, it’s the vole again
This is Gregory btw, he’s not a regular per-say but he’s visited enough times that I gave him a name (about 5 times in 6 months). I just find him humorous enough to share, especially when he’s probably the weirdest animal I’ve had on my feeder
Cute little thing though, even if my Robin really does not tolerate him or the other voles for that matter
(Hopefully this lil guy is allowed here)
I don’t have a problem, I can stop whenever I feel like it,.
New shelf day soo I did just dust and relocate all of them. Idk I just like how my display looked and wanted to share it. Also yes, Concavenator is posed exactly the same way as the Giga,. I just thought that was fun
Also no, I’m not stopping lol,. That expensive holiday I wanna go on can wait
I just found the WWD Gorgosaurus render in a brochure. I think I just had my first “and there’s the Papo Rex again” moments irl
Nothing really else of not tho. I just found this humorous enough to share (yes that was a bone joke)
I know people constantly criticise the JW franchise for overusing the armoured back, crocodilian aesthetic but I feel like frontier has their own weird categories like this. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing I just wanted to spark a discussion here (because I’m bored)
Other examples I can think of are the horizontal stripes common in most herbivores (Stegoceratops, Archeornithomimus, Therizinosaurus, Hypsolopodon etc), head quills on a lot of male small theropods (ie Herrerasaurus and Coelophisis but not Troodon for some reason) and probably a lot more I’m too tired to think of
Idk I just found that interesting
The final picture is one I ended up on using soo that’s why it’s not as cursed. memes aside I love the fact we have a mod like this. Little QOL mods like this I love even if the community overlooks them sometimes.
Also if anyone’s curious about the final look, I turned everything turned up by 1.2 with an exception for oxygen/fur being a 10. Feel free to experiment though, i know i did
No matter how close I get they refuse to update, or if they do they flash on for a second before going back to bad taxidermy mode. I’ve noticed some of my other tames doing something similar but at least with them they don’t look THIS bad, even if my Solwyn with a permanent hairection is pretty close.
(I’m on PS5 if that helps. I just hope this gets fixed soon, I can handle crunchy dinos but not having them update this close is just distracting).
Just incase anyone these are their names in order (spoiler alert, I’m terrible with names); Cyanobacteria, Elephant party (would’ve called it Elmer if it was female), Bubbaphant, Al bino and finally, Peppermint. The orange one from the previous post is called Rajang, mostly just because of the yellow hair honestly
These are the main few that I’ve fully mutated anyway, all the others ether only have 1 or 2 mutations or are basically just earlier versions of these bunch missing a colour or two. You know how it is with mutations, you usually end up with a cryofridge full by the time you are done lol
I only recently got back into ARK after having to uninstall it for a while (the PS5’s base storage is awful) and apparently they added this thing and a ton of other stuff!?
I know Lost Colony released and Asteros got an update but I wasn’t expecting these weird looking elephants just roaming around now. 3 weeks later and remembering why I don’t like doing mammal mutations, i have an army! I guess I don’t need a clunky Bronto to get forests flattened now (still say it should have a TLC tho)
All jokes aside, if this is somehow a player, this is kinda genius!
Probably a bot though, ether way I found it funny enough to share
(And Spinoceratops because the enclosure looked a bit bland with just two green ornithopods, especially when one of those species basically doesn’t exist half the time. Seemed a better idea than adding a ‘polar allosaurus’ anyway lol)
But for real though, I’ve only just (sort of) returned to the game and idk, some news would be nice.
Yes I know we know they are working on ‘something’ but considering how April is over tomorrow, some news would be nice, or at least about the returning species. I can’t be the only one a little concerned especially when the bug fixes aren’t really rolling out like they used to
CC Kentro is still unusable and it’s been months! At this point I’d prefer that to a returning species (unless it’s Draco anyway, I miss ya bud)
