Fun fact: according to Nikita Kolesnikov, the creator of the series, the main inspiration for the Guest's design was the Schnabelperchten (though it wasn't the only inspiration for his design)

According to him when designing the Guest and his general appearence he wanted a similar vibe to old victorian Halloween costumes from more than a hundred years ago that while didn't exactly that that scary back then nowadays look absolutely terrifying and creepy, but he was really struggling for the head design, specifically the beak until he stumbled upon the Schnabelperchten, a tradition from austrian folklore where people dress up in made-up bird-like outfits after the creature and go into other people's houses to make sure they had it cleaned up, if they find any tupe of filth they'd cut up people with their giant wooden scissor and stuff them with the filth, and according to him looked at the peculiar eyeless beak face and thought "that's it! That's exactly what i was looking for!" So you can thank this specific tradition for the iconic Guest design that we know and love :)

I absolutely LOVE these concept arts by Adrian Carmack for the first Quake :)

It's just so cool to see the thought process behind the enemy designs and kindof have a small glimpse of how the devs conceptualized the world of Quake in a less polygonal and pixelated style, i would love if a future Quake revival based it's design philosophy on these sketches, but what do you guys think?

Is Dr. Cain's name actually meant to be translated was "Dr. Cane"?

It would actually make sense considering other doctors in the series have names that are very literal and correlate with the characters: Light/Right, Wily (as in full wile, a crafty person), Weil's japanese name Vile (as in a vile person) Doppler (doppler effect) and Cane would reference his actual cane, what do you guys think?

Fun fact: this specific design for the Neighbor's house seen in promotional/concept art is based on concept art by James Gilleard for a canned Disney show pitch called "Lucky Beast"

Was anyone able to find the image used for the real world portal at the end of Bendy: Lone Wolf?

I've been trying to search for it but apparently no one has tried to find it, is it possible to datamine the game and get it? It seems like a real photo (probably from a stock site) of a building and a street...

When/if (hopefully) the first Silent Hill gets remake i hope they keep the Kindergarten Cop references/inspiration for the Midwich Elementary School

I'm kindof afraid they might change/remove it so the game can be "taken seriously" to represent it's "mature setting", in fact i'd love if they doubled down on it and consciously put more elements of the movie's school and references in it for people who love the movie (like me) to spot, but what do you guys think?

Has there ever been a full Quake "demake" mod in the Doom engine where they completely do Quake in Doom's artstyle?

The few "Quake in Doom" mods i've seen just take screenshots of the models and do them in Doom's billboarding technique, i'd love an mod that actually adapts Quake into the brighter aesthetic of Doom and actually remakes the enemies into pixelart/scanned models like in original Doom, what do you guys think of this idea?

Does anyone know that specific type of bowtie Mystman is wearing as the Principal Of The Thing?

Also why does it look so messy? Did he not set it up correctly or something?

If the original Doom ever gets a remake how do you think the landscape of the Phobos and Deimos moons should be depicted?

Do you think they should make it more like how the intermission screens depict it (technically accurate to how the look in real life) or do you think they should go 100% percent faithful and keep them exactly like how the skyboxes depict them?

The Harry Gold Show's redesigns of the TADC cast if they were faithful to videogames of the 90s

I absolutely LOVE these designs, not only is the artwork very made and accurate to 90s games but the super accurate models look charming as hell, Kinger here is my absolute favorite, he perfectly captures that Rayman/Earthworm Jim vibe with Caine being by second pick, but what do you guys think of these redesigns and what is your personal favorite?

Here's the link of the video for those who want to it themselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyQ39XVbFso

It took me WAY too long to realize this detail about Scarface's design from Batman Arkham

It took me way too long to realize that Scarface from Batman Arkham having exposed heart boxers and a pointy smiling mouth wasn't an actual intented part of his design and that it was the joker who messed him up taking off his pants and carving the mouth on him as a joke

Sometimes i wonder if Silent Hill was made by western developers rather rather than japanese ones how different certain elements would be, specially things like the health drinks

For those that don't know the health drink from Silent Hill are based on japanese energy drinks, with the one from the first game being seemingly based on the Yunker Kotei DCF energy drink (even has the golden label with a rhombus shape that has an acronym that starts with D) and the one from the second probably based on Lipovitan D, both of these are very common drink used by office workers to be able to stay up for long hours and again it's very specific to Japan, but i wonder how different it would be, what would they be replaced by etc.

Any other things that may be specific to japanese culture that wouldn't exist if the series was made by western developers you know?

I don't know if anyone has pointed this out before, but i think the Silver Parasol Games logo may be slightly based on the original Traveller's Tales logo

At least to me they look and feel very similar in style, but what do you guys think?

I'd honestly love to have someone do fanart of the characters (or even recreating the games' box arts) of Mega Man in the style of silver age comic books, specially from artists like Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita Sr., Dick Sprang etc. I think it would look very cool and i'd fit Mega Man a lot

I hope this little throwaway idea i had inspires the talented artists of the sub to do something like this, i'd be very happy to see you guys do it :)

I know it probably won't be the case, but i'd love if Bendy: The Lost Harbor had us playing as Allison with gameplay in the third person action adventure genre similar to Onimusha with hack 'n' slash/platforming elements like Alice: Madness Returns

So for those that don't remember Bendy: The Lost Harbor is the title of an upcoming game found in the trademarks of JDS, the title seems to reference the location where the Lost Ones reside in chapter 5 and BATDR references it again with Wilson talking about an uprising ocurring in it, so i connected the dots that Allison is barely present throughout Dark Revival and i thought "what if that's what the game will be about?" With us playing as Alisson leading the uprising at the Lost Harbor meanwhile the event of BATDR happen? Imagine how cool that would be? And so i thought about how The Cage is bringing new gameplay styles of different genres to the series with over the shoulder camera inspired by Silent Hill and Dead Space which made me think what gameplay style would with us playing as Allison would fit her and from what genre they'd bring it from, and that's when my mind immedietly jumped to the samurai swordfighting action adventure gameplay of Onimusha and the hack 'n' slash and platforming mix of Alice: Madness Returns, so my idea would be a game where we play as Allison with maybe Tom as our companion as we explore and ravage through different never before seen areas of Last Harbor while we help the Lost Ones with the uprising by defeating Wilson's army that are attacking them, we'd have this very samurai-esque sword fighting for Allison while we defeat all sorts of ink mechanical monstrosities created by Wilson, but anyway what do you guys think of my idea?

Before you discovered it's true source, what did you think the word "Koopa" originate/base itself on?

Before i discovered it's actual origin i personally though it was a corruption of the word "creeper" as from the Shell Creeper enemies from Mario Bros. 1983, but what did you think Koopa originated from?

Since Yoshi's japanese name (ヨッシー) is a portmanteau of Mie Yoshimura's name and Nessie (as in the nickname for the Loch Ness Monster) combined, wouldn't the most accurate translation of his name be "Yossie" rather than "Yoshi" or "Yossy"?
