When we think of GMod FNaF models we think of the iconic I6NIS models, but i always found them odd looking when put on maps, but apparently they were made to match specifically with TF2's catoony art style, so this got me thinking for a while now:

Why has there never been an attempt to make FNaF animatronic models that try to resemble or match the specific art and modelling style of most Source engine games like Half Life, Portal and Left 4 Dead, as in their specific semi-realistic, dark, grungy aesthetic with high fidelity textures in it's overall aesthetic? It's kinda surprising to me that no one has tried after all these years...

How long did it take you to realize that Boris the Wolf was a reference to Boris Karloff?

For those that don't know (god this explanation makes me feel like a bunch of old dust...) Boris Karloff was a golden age Hollywood actor famously known for acting in many horror movies, with his most famous role being that of Frankenstein's Monster from the 1932 Frankenstein Universal movie adaptation, Boris the Wolf references him in many different ways, all the way from his name to his dead clones being strapped on operation tables and Brute Boris was specifically stated by the developers to be based on Frankenstein's monster with a more unfinished appearence in the Archives aswell being created by a mad scientist (Alice) on a laboratory from a bunch of stolen body parts put together exactly like Frankenstein's Monster's origin, but my favorite detail is that the name "Boris" originated from the old Bulgar word for "wolf", hence why Boris is a wolf specifically, SO MANY DETAILS!!!...

But anyways, how long did it take you to catch this reference from the character?

I'm not 100% knowledgeable with japanese so i'd love for someone to explain this, but shouldn't Vile's japanese name be rendered as BABA instead of VAVA (ヴァヴァ) since his name is based on Bubba Zanetti from Mad Max? Wouldn't it be more accurate? Or no?

Since it seems that the Guest Area wasn't going to be japanese restaurant themed in the original version of the game or "Hunger" as it was called, how different things like the kabuki mask Guest variant or even the Lady herself would be with this seemingly lack of japanese inspired designs?

Artwork and concept art for a reimagining of Lethal Company done by Paulo Rodrigues in Artstation (more images in comments)

According to him this is a personal project and reimagining the game Lethal Company, created by Zeekerss.

The aim of this project is to visually reimagine a game that he really likes, especially it's horror, but he felt that he could improve on it's visual aspects more, he thinks even though the artistic style of the original was already very good, he said he wanted to give his personal vision of the game and his main inspirations were the the styles of H. R. Giger, Zdzisław Beksiński, Syd Mead and movies of Denis Villeneuve such as Dune and Blade Runner 2049.

Credits also go to artists Idebaldo Marques and José Rafael who helped him in this project.

Okay, i absolutely LOVE this reimagining done by him, it's able to take the simplictic low-poly style of Lethal Company and turn it into this super atmospheric cinematic horror Sci-Fi world in the likes of Blade Runner, Alien, Dune or even Event Horizon, just imagine playing this with the proximity mic and everything? Gosh wish i could play it as an actual game NGL.

But what do you guys think? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments :)

I have a bit of a question about Joey in relation of him in the games and the books (read desc.)

I have question about Joey in relation about how his birthplace seems to be different in games and the books, because in The Illusion Of Living it says he was born on Paterson in New Jersey so you'd think think that'd also be the case in the games too , but in them he seems to have a western american accent instead of your typical New Jersey one, so where do you think he is from in the games at least based on his accent?

Is it true that Four Arms's design was based on ants? I mean, i can definetly see the resemblance and it feels like something Dave Johnson or Tom Perkins would do when designing him, but is there an actual true source that confirms it?

u/Sammy_Ferr — 14 days ago

Fun fact: according to Nikita Kolesnikov (the creator of the series) the design of Raven Brooks (at least in the early alphas of Hello Neighbor 2 and in Hello Neighbor 3) is based on the small fishing village called Rybachy, located close to the city of Voronezh, which is were Dynamic Pixels is

Nikita said he used to visit the place a lot when he was younger, so he has a lot of nostalgia for the place and served as a lot of influence for Hello Neighbor's atmosphere, the similarity is pretty telling in the images, also the village is owned by the "Mayak-1 fishing association" which is were the Weather Station's name, Mayak-1, comes from :)

It's interesting how many things seem to imply that both Fredbear and Spring Bonnie would originally have black colored acessories before being changed to purple colored ones from FNaF 4 forward

You can see how each time we see anything related to Fredbear and Spring Bonnie in the first 3 games only show them with black acessories, specially the Spring Bonnie poster easter eggs in or Stage01 in 3, the first time we ever see them with purple acessories is in 4 and from that point forward it has become a constant design choice for both, i think Scott probably originally designed them wearing black to match Golden Freddy (or Yellow Bear) but he probably thought they looked too dull and then redesigned them to wear purple, and honestly thank god he did, not only does it make their designs way more iconic but the purple is a great complement for their yellow color :)

Hot Take: but i actually really like majority of the designs for the Mega Man characters in Captain N: The Game Master, and i honestly think the major reason for people to dislike them is their color palette, and maybe some other design details, but i'll go over each design in the desc.

I genuinely think a big factor for people to not like these designs is their color palette, otherwise i think they're actually pretty neat, which is why i put the production sketches so we can not only see them without the colors but also have a good look at the whole design of each character, now of course there are some changes and details in some designs that warrant some criticism, but overall i like most of them and for a long time i've seen people tear them down to shreds and i never got it 100%, but the fact i don't partake in the "anime=automatically better" mentality may be a bit of a reason since i was always a bigger fan of western cartoons than anime honestly so that could be a factor and i want to explain my views on them, so i'll go through each of them and pointing out some changes i think make them look better, so let's go:

Mega Man: people keep talking about his green color and voice, but otherwise i think it overall looks okay and an accurate color palette to make him a proper blue bomber would fix it a lot for me, he has a very Buzz Lightyear-esque cartoony futuristic style that i like, honestly the changes i'd make is removing the line on his torso alongside the V neck and giving him a belt above the tights, also give him the Mega Blaster but i actually don't mind the Spider-Man web shooter style blasters, again feels very Buzz Lightyear like with the laser and stuff, love the visor too honestly.

Dr. light: gonna be honest i think he looks fine, would definetly change his hair and beard to look more Santa Claus-like and give him the traditional white labcoat instead of the green, but otherwise it's very okay (also why is he the only one with four fingers instead of four like all the others including Wily? Take that finger off, this is a western cartoon! Four fingers for you doctor).

Dr. Wily: he looks perfect, captured the "evil Einstein" inspired design perfectly, also love details like the huge head and heavy eyesbags, truly an egghead at heart, and the fact he was voiced by the same guy that went on to voice Mega Man in the Ruby Spears Cartoon is so poetically fitting.

Cut Man: now this is a design i'm not so favorable of, but i think his orange and white color scheme would already do wonders for a start, but the real changes i'd make is give him a face and head scissor closer to his game design, but with a little robot cylinder nose to complement the design and some teeth alongside the cut off sliding lower jaw.

Guts Man: he honestly looks very good already and the accurate colors would only amplify that, maybe make his face closer to the original with the construction worker looking helmet, but overall it's great.

Ice Man: this one is probably my favorite design of them all despite the differences ( maybe even more than the original game design), the fridge shaped body and chiseled ice face are such a great design element, maybe the only thing i'd do is remove the ice gun and make him throw ice from his mouth like the games.

Bomb Man: just like Guts Man, he's already very good and the correct colors would do him big favors, maybe remove the tights? But that's nothing to complain about honestly.

Fire Man: just like Ice Man this is a design that although different from the original i still enjoy it a lot, the more robotic design gives him such a big glowup, and i like the visor with little beady eyes and pointy nose, it makes him very cute looking.

Elec Man: this a design that like Cut Man i understand why people aren't a fan of, but i prefer it over the former as i think the more loony manic designs fit his theme and vibe, honestly just give him the game colors and the Electro-esque lightningbolt detail on top of his mask and we're good.

Now before we go to the second game roster i honestly like how they go for a more robotic clunky design philosophy, makes them different enough from the others and give them a fun aesthetic as a big robot design fan, so let's continue:

Metal Man: love that he was seemingly based on a old electric can opener, just give him the game colors and it's perfect for me honestly.

Air Man: this one falls a bit into the Ice and Fire Man territory for me where despite being very different i feel are great designs that capture the vibe of the original very well, love the airplane inspired design he has and love the beady eyes, and the game colors would only make him better.

Bubble Man: same deal as Air Man honestly, love the robotic scuba diver water gun mix of designs he got.

Quick Man: while his face could definetly get a bit of a rework i think it honestly looks solid, very accurate to his game design but just more stylized and quirky, give the colors and it's done for me.

Crash Man: not so much a fan of the bomb thrower hand and the Flash-style lightning head things, just take them off and give him the drill and it fixes the whole deal for me personally.

Heat Man: love the more robotic looking design, keeps the zippo lighter inspired design of the original perfectly, just very nice looking honestly.

Wood Man: I. LOVE. HIS. DESIGN. The mix of robotic parts and rough wood armor plates are incredibly well implemented, maybe i'd just give him the leaf shields, but the tree bark shield is very cool looking too.

So yeah, i genuinely think most of these are very cool looking, just a few changes for some of them and the game accurate colors would elevate him a lot IMHO, but what do you guys think? Would love to hear your honest thoughts in the comments :)

Honestly the thing i'm the most excited about the Bendy movie isn't the Cycle-related stuff (still excited for that obviously) but it's actually how well the movie will capture the 1920's/1930's/1940's time period characterization for the setting and characters :)

Since the movie is confirmed to be Live-Action i'm 100% certain that we'll see the real world outside of the Cycle, and that's honestly what i'm the most excited about to see in it, specially how accurate and well made it'll be, movies set in this time period from the Great Depression to throughout the start of World War II in the 20's, 30's and 40's are some of my favorite movies ever, that early 20th century New Deal-style New York City aesthetic just appeals heavily to me in the biggest way possible, it's something i loved in the Dreams Come To Life novel and wished the games featured that aspect way more honestly, so the possibility of having that in the movie adaptation of one of my favorite indie horror games would be a dream come true, but what do you guys think?

u/Sammy_Ferr — 22 days ago

If we were guaranteed to have a good well-written faithful Live-Action movie adaptation of Saint Seiya, i feel an aesthetic similar to the first Thor movie would be the ideal source of inspiration, i think that movie got the mix of ancient mythology and cosmic outworldy fantasy mixed perfectly IMHO

Just change the architecture for something more like Ancient Greece alongside some more vibrant colors and it's perfect, i mean, Idris Elba's Heimdall's armor already looks like a perfect blueprint for Aldebaran's to me, but what do you guys think? I'd love to see your thoughts in the comments :)

What type of shoe does the Neighbor wear in the first game? At first i thought they were converse (which seems to be what they ran with for the second game) but the design of the sole is putting me in doubt a bit, also because it's very different looking from the Player's, or maybe it's an oxford?

When we get Gorilla Grodd in the DCU, i hope they really hammer down on the detail of the CGI and animation for making him as expressive and human-like as real life gorillas are, i feel it'd make him much more compelling in showing his emotions alongside his brilliance and intelect :)

What do you guys think?

Is it just me who isn't a fan of this ongoing trend of "techfying" pretty much every one of Spider-Man's villains in terms of aesthetic?

While i think it can work in characters like Doctor Octopus i feel it makes a lot of other villains feel "samey" in terms of design and kinda strips away their personality for the sake of this "faux-realism" that can only work to a certain extent, like, why can't the Green Goblin actually look like a Halloween goblin costume riding a metal gargoyle throwing jack-o-lanterns? why can't Rhino's suit look like an actual rhino skin? why can't Vulture's wings actually be made of feathers and whatnot? i wouldn't really mind if it was just for the movies but i have the sentiment that this trend is crawling into every Spider-Man media nowadays, i have no problem in modernizing the designs themselves to give them a bit more glow and stuff i feel this is going way beyond that for some of them, but what do you guys think?

People have already thrown their tomatoes at this design from hell and back, but to me there are specifically two things that fundamentally make this design inferior to his original one:

First, his color palette: not only for his outifit which had a way darker and fitting color scheme to it but specially his actual skin color, it was this dead sickly green with all these nasty yellowish green spots which gave him a much more alien and gross looking appearence to him compared to UAF's more "straight-out-of-the-crayola-box"green they use alongside his lack of spots.

Second, his head and face shape: the original Vilgax (and the rest of OS) had this thing that i loved of letting aliens look unflattering and inhuman and Vilgax is a perfect example of this even in his younger/undamaged design, his head is very flat bulbous, which alongside his very small set apart eyes and wide black lipped mouth gives him a very creepy looking vibe to it which is very much lost in UAF, now his head is much more pointy (reminds me more of OS Myaxx honestly) but also much more human proportioned with his eyes being much closer to each other and bigger alongside his mouth being way smaller and more human looking.

But what do you guys think?

Is it just me who prefers the overall color palette and lighting from the original chapter 1 over the ones from the final game? I feel like the paler colors and darker shadow made the game feel so ominous, it gave the feeling that there was always something lurking in the shadows...

The think i love the most about the new Bendy plush toy is that not only it is faithful to the design in-game, but also because it's "handmade ugliness" reminds me a lot of old stuffed toys of characters like Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat from the 1930's, which feels extremely appropriate :)

It looks exactly like what i'd imagine a Bendy stuffed toy would look lilke if it was made in the 1930's like the ones other real character characters from that time period, well at least it's smile isn't crooked, guess Jack Fain wasn't responsible for assembling this one :)

I love Castlevania: Dracula X's artwork (not the game) has a very nice Tim Sale-influenced style to it which looks very nice :)

the shapes and colors make for a very nice style
