Neevin Masjid Lahore — a 566-year-old mosque sitting around 25 feet below the streets of the Walled City. 👀

Built in 1460 during the Lodhi period, Neevin Masjid is one of Lahore’s surviving pre-Mughal monuments — from a chapter of the city’s history that came before many of the landmarks we now associate with historic Lahore.

Its name hints at what makes it so unusual:

“Neevin” means low.

The mosque sits roughly 25 feet below the surrounding street level — almost the height of a two-storey building.

And 566 years later, people still pray here.

It isn’t just an old monument. It remains a living part of the community around it.
