I hate this body

I'm big, fat, ugly and MALE. I hate this body, everytime I see myself in the mirror I couldn't help but feel miserable. I don't know if I should start my transition because I can't find my size in the ladies' section. I really wish I were a girl, my family won't understand being trans either, is it too much to ask for?

Am I overmedicated?

I'm 21M and I've been on medication for about 4 years now. For the first 7 months, I took these daily despite my psychiatrist denying to give me a diagnosis:

Carbamazepine 200 mg

Fluvoxamine 50 mg

Risperidone 2 mg

Aripiprazole 5 mg

Trihexyphenidyl 2 mg

Clonazepam 0.25 mg

Loxapine 25 mg

Lithium carbonate 150 mg

These didn't have any effect on my mental state, except for side effects. I stopped taking these only when my psychiatrist started becoming more hostile towards me. During my final visit to him, he yelled at me for "skipping meds", and that was the last straw.

After this, I didn't take medication for a few months, but had a psychotic self harm episode which made me register with a new psychiatrist. Ever since registering with him, I've been taking these till date after being diagnosed with schizophrenia and anxiety:

Venlafaxine 150mg

Escitalopram 60mg (3 x 20mg)

Olanzapine 10mg

Propanolol 10mg

While they did control my hallucinations and delusions, I've been feeling like my life has been sucked out of me. I have very little motivation to do things, and I feel almost no emotions. It's like being a zombie.

I talked about this matter with my psychiatrist, and suggested I'd switch to something like aripiprazole. However he told me that aripiprazole won't work for me and instead added methylphenidate 10mg to my daily meds.

Now I feel like a more energetic zombie :) I was also told I should take these for at least 3 more years.

I'm just worried that I'll be on meds forever, and won't get to live a fuller life. While I'm sick of taking meds, I've experienced withdrawals whenever I forget to take my meds for a few days and they're HORRIBLE. It's just debilitating headaches, neuropathic pain and extreme mood swings and delirium.

Am I being overmedicated? I just want to not feel like a zombie. I want to try tapering off my meds but it seems like my doctor wants to only add more to it.

How bad is Bateson Hall? (uni)

I'll be attending UoP in a few weeks, and I got assigned to Bateson Hall. To my dismay, I haven't heard much good about it, but I feel like it has everything I need and tbh I can't really complain given the cheaper rent.

I'm just worried about noise pollution in the rooms (so that I can buy noise cancelling headphones and also not be noisy to others) and whether there are shops nearby where I can get my daily needs like medicine and grocery, so any info on these would help!

How do I stop being lazy about self care?

I've been meaning to take more care of myself, eat healthy, exercise, skincare, but I have been dealing mental health issues (schizophrenia) for 4 years now and it makes it hard to do even basic activities like taking a shower.

Now I'll be starting university next month, and I want to change things. My doctor gave me ritalin, which makes me less lazy, but I haven't taken any proactive action.

How do I navigate self care by myself? I believe once I get on a schedule and meet more people, I'd start feeling better.

My mom only cares about Jesus

Not about me, but that's still somehow considered parental affection. She doesn't talk about anything but god. I can't have a normal conversation with her and she only tries to push her religion onto me.

It has come to a point where my mom can't do tasks requiring basic cognitive function. She only talks about God and prays for some 2 or 3 hours a day. She even has delusions and shows signs of dementia (she's only in her 50s!). I honestly can't handle her anymore, I always have to clean up her mess and stick up for her because she's my mom. This church has ruined my life. Pentecostalism is a cult. A very dangerous one.

Electronic engineering students, what software do you use?

I come from a community college in India, and I'll be studying year 3 of electronic engineering at Portsmouth, UK. I had mainly used PSpice, Proteus, and MATLAB on Windows 11 for my HND. Also have some experience with STM32CubeIDE.

I have modules related to analog electronics (amplifiers, filters, telecoms), DSP, and embedded systems. I want to know what software I'll be using for these because I want to switch to linux and some packages (like altium designer) are not supported. I want to make sure if I can run all prescribed software or alternatives on my PC.

Also, will the uni give me licenses to software packages? Here in India, most unis run on pirated software and never really seen any uni provide student licenses. Thanks.

Looking for wireless headphones under 20k

I'm moving to a university dorm and need wireless headphones for my privacy. I'm currently using Moondrop Lan 2 (ref) for commute and I like the way those sounds. My problem is, I can't identify wireless headphones that are not bass heavy or have a relatively natural/flat tuning at this price range.

I'm basically looking for something that sounds like studio monitor headphones. Please don't suggest open-backs because they leak sound and will disturb those around me. Thanks!

Best Dolby Atmos albums?

I'm looking for good Tamil Dolby Atmos albums. I found Goa, Engeyum Kadhal, and Kabali. Need albums with similar level of production (both film and indie, old and new).

For reference, I like albums like Aayitha Ezhuthu, Kaakha Kaakha, Kadhal Virus, With Love, Enthiran...

Thinking of getting a secondary phone. Need some advice.

Hi guys. I'll be starting university next month and I want a new phone for it. I already own an A36, and my idea is that I'll use that for all the "fun" stuff (Instagram, Discord) and use a second phone for the serious stuff (mail, whatsapp, phone calls, maps...). Basically, I'll have a dedicated productivity phone, while the casual phone just sits in my bag with no notifications on.

I'm doing this because I already have a dumbphone launcher on my A36, and it would be better if I had a separate device that's free from all the distractions.

I want to know if someone is already doing this, and how it helps (decreased screen time, more productivity, social media detox...)

If this is a good idea, I'd like to know what phone to get (around 300-500 GBP). Any phone that's small is a plus. I do need 5G connectivity and Android OS.

Do I REALLY need to take notes?

I have graduated from a HND in electrical and electronic engineering, and will be starting my BEng degree in the same next month. As someone moving from community college to university, I have been looking back at my study habits to see where I could improve.

One thing I've noticed is that I've never took notes at college. Neither on my laptop, nor on paper/tablet. I just listen to lectures and have my textbook or other resources open during class.

I've managed to graduate from my HND with a merit (around 3.5 for Americans) and look to graduate uni with at least a 2:2 honors, which means I should keep up with my work or perform comparatively better.

Lately, I've been watching videos on productivity, learning, and lifestyle, and saw that many people have a habit of taking notes and even have their own note-taking systems/protocols. I've seen some taking notes for something like organizing their thoughts and everyday life too.

My question is, do I need to take notes at the same level as these people to do better? I've never had any trouble with not taking notes, butI just feel like I'll be missing out on any benefits taking notes has.

Do I continue with my meds/doctor?

I'm 21 M, diagnosed with schizophrenia and anxiety at 17. I'm currently on 150 mg venlafaxine, 15 mg olanzapine, and 60 mg escitalopram (3 different brands of 20mg) for about 8 months now. I have also been taking 25 mg metoprolol for about 2 years, although I don't know what it is for.

My major concern right now is that I had always felt like my meds are hindering my cognitive and physical performance. Ever since I had been on meds, I've always felt like my thinking got slower and less clear, and I am not able to perform tasks that generally require more cognitive effort and used to be easy for me. This has been troubling me as my performance in my studies (engineering) and hobbies (music production) has significantly reduced compared to before starting my medication.

I've also noticed that it now takes more effort for me to get out of bed, do basic self care (showering, changing clothes), and take care of my home. I often find myself sleeping at work or lose focus.

I've had 2 psychiatrists so far, and multiple second opinions. None of them have ever seemed to understand this problem or address it. I've told my psychiatrist about this multiple times, only to get increased dosages that make me more sluggish.

I'm just tired of being slow while see people my age outperform me and live fuller lives. Should I try reducing my doses and change to something like aripiprazole or do I just change my psychiatrist?

Should I try modafinil (or other nootropics)?

Hi, guys. I'm 21 and have been on medication for schizophrenia since 17. I'm currently on escitalopram, olanzapine, and venlafaxine.

Ever since I've started my meds, my hallucinations and delusions were gone, but it has left me with this grueling apathy and avolition.

I find it really hard to do basic activities such as showering daily, or cleaning my room and dishes. It's not like I don't want to do these things (I really wish I could do these), but I just can't seem to find motivation to take actions, especially when there's no huge apparent reward.

I know that people often use medication like modafinil or adderall to increase attentiveness and be able to accomplish work and I think that the same effect would help me do my important daily tasks.

I just want to be able to do stuff that I really want to, without having to feel like shit 24x7. I miss the days before getting schizophrenic, when I was more active and life felt more colorful.

P.S: To make things clear, I've tried everything from fixing my sleep and going to the gym. It's not like I completely avoid my daily activities. I just find that there's some inertia/friction to do things, and I feel that modafinil might make things smoother.
