Would you use a service like this for inter-city buying/selling?

We all know the rule: Only buy second-hand stuff in person. But what happens when the exact laptop, smartphone, or camera you want is in Delhi, and you’re in Bangalore?

Cross-city deals usually get stuck in a standoff. Buyers don't want to transfer thousands to a stranger, and Sellers don't want to ship expensive technology unless they get paid.

I’m part of the team building Zhold, and we solved this by handling the physical risk for you:

Doorstep Physical Verification: We physically verify the item right at the seller's doorstep to check its condition and generate a verification report for the buyer.

Instant Seller Payout: The moment the item passes doorstep verification, the seller gets paid instantly on the spot. No waiting for the courier to travel across India to get your cash.

We are currently active in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Lucknow with pan-India shipping.

Would love your honest feedback on this.

We launched a scam-free second-hand marketplace a week ago. Total deals so far: Zero. Looking for 10 early birds to break the ice (for free).

Hey guys,
A week ago we launched the platform. The whole point of the platform is to stop the classic OLX/Facebook Marketplace scams (the fake listings, the ghosting, etc.) by providing physical verification at doorstep. with logistics.
But let’s be real, when you're brand new. Nobody wants to be the first one to try it because they don't want to risk their money on a new site. Totally understandable.
So, we need to break the ice. We’re looking for 10 "Early Bird" users to do the first few deals on the platform.
To make it completely risk-free:
Zero Fees: We’re waiving all the verification and platform fees for these first 10 slots.

Campus Fund sent it to my email, was good reading it

Are you your startup ?

This is one of the hardest things to internalise when you’re building something.

You’ve poured everything into it. Your time, your money, your sleep, your weekends, your relationships. It’s your idea, your baby, your identity. When someone asks what you do, you don’t say your name first. You say your company’s name.

And that’s the problem.

Because when someone rejects your company, it feels like they’re rejecting you. When an investor passes, it feels personal. When a customer says no, it stings in a way that’s hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t been through it. When a pitch goes badly, you carry it home with you.

But your company is not you. Your product is not you. A no to your startup is not a no to you as a person.

The sooner you learn to separate those two things, the better everything gets.

This matters most in how you handle rejection.

An investor passes on your round. A customer chooses a competitor. A partner decides it’s not the right fit. These things happen constantly in the life of a company. They’re normal. They’re expected. They’re part of the game.

What’s not normal, and what people remember, is how you react.

The founder who sends a rude reply after getting passed on. The one who argues with a customer who decided to leave. The one who burns a bridge with an investor because they didn’t get a term sheet. The one who badmouths someone publicly because they felt disrespected.

It feels justified in the moment. It almost never is.

The world is incredibly small. And your career is incredibly long.

The investor who passed on you today might be the perfect fit for your next company. The customer who said no might come back in two years when their needs have changed. The partner who walked away might end up at a company you desperately want to work with.

You don’t know where people end up. You don’t know when you’ll need them again. You don’t know which of today’s rejections becomes tomorrow’s relationship.

If you’ve burned it, it’s gone. And you’ll never know what you lost.

Handling rejection well isn’t about being a pushover. It’s not about pretending the no didn’t hurt or swallowing your feelings.

It’s about being gracious. Saying “thank you for your time, I appreciate the honesty.” Following up with a genuine update a few months later. Keeping the door open even when it just got closed in your face.

That takes maturity. Especially when you’re young, when the stakes feel existential, when every rejection feels like proof that you’re not good enough.

But the founders who survive long enough to succeed are the ones who treat every no as a “not yet” and every person as someone they might meet again.

And beyond the strategic reasons, there’s a simpler one.

You exist outside of your startup. You existed before it. You’ll exist after it. This company might be your life’s work. Or it might be the thing that teaches you everything you need for the next thing.

Either way, how you treat people along the way follows you forever. Your company’s brand might change. Your personal brand doesn’t get a rebrand.

And sometimes, you will choose to burn a bridge.

There are situations where someone has genuinely wronged you, where the relationship is beyond repair, where walking away loudly is the right thing to do. That’s your call to make. Nobody can tell you otherwise.

But go in with your eyes open. Know that you’re making a bet. A bet that you’ll never need that person again. A bet that their network won’t overlap with yours. A bet that the story won’t travel.

Sometimes that bet is worth making. Sometimes the bridge deserves to burn.

Just know what you’re choosing. Stand by it. And remember that the world is small. Really, really small.

So build with everything you have. Pour yourself into it. Care deeply. Fight for it.

But when the no comes, and it will come, many times, remember that it’s a no to the business, not to you.

Respond with grace. Keep the relationship. Move forward.

The world is too small and life is too long to leave people with a reason to never speak to you again.

Why are used-marketplace scams in India still increasing?

Nowadays, scams on platforms like OLX and Quikr happen almost daily , fake sellers, advance payment scams, damaged products, etc.

But what confuses me is that there are already multiple Indian startups/services offering things like inspections, verified deals, doorstep checks, escrow/payment holding, and safer transactions. Still, the overall scam situation doesn’t seem to improve much.

So what’s the actual reason?

  • Do people still hesitate to trust a third-party company/service?
  • Do buyers/sellers avoid paying service fees to stay “cheap”?
  • Or do most users simply not know these services even exist?
  • Maybe people feel “it won’t happen to me” and continue dealing directly?
  • Or is the used-marketplace ecosystem itself too unorganized to control properly?

Would like to hear real opinions and experiences from buyers/sellers here.
