The greatest boat on earth…

NC time. My summer drive. The NC2 2010 GT. 6 speed manual. No mods. I like really like this package.

The PRHT is convenient. The comforts of having cup holders on each door, a glove box, heated seats, air conditioner, leather seats, Limited Slip, keyless entry, to the bargain $ price point of this roadster Miata.

Several days since the last shave. Duck time

Old soap from France. Takes forever to finish but that’s just fine.

Royal Canada- butterscotch scales

Today’s shave is a vintage razor from France. A Le Grelot straight from P. Hospital & Cie — when the company closed down it was eventually bought by today’s Thiers-Issard. The razor is 6/8.

A recent visit with an in-house watchmaker. A craftsman…

The shop claim was 70+ years experience in wristwatch repairs. I thought it would be 2 watchmakers. It’s only one guy.

1940. Sterling .925 silver case

A watch that a friend took in for restoration. Could be many months before it is completed. Also missing a crown. Double hinged caseback. A glimpse of history from Longines watch company. Likely older than many of us here. Super interesting.

Today shave with a vintage razor

4/8 c-mon German blade that’s very easy to navigate a 3-pass shave.

The essential Journe?

A fellow watch collector was wearing this CS with the classic silver dial. I took a quick photo with his approval. This style was the first Journe model I tried on almost 20 years ago— and I think the classic FPJ watch to start a Journe collection with.

Sunday shave. Naturally used a Sunday razor…

The best part of a Sunday or weekend shave is all the free time to take my time. Pure fun.

Grand Seiko USA screwed up the transition with Canada

Repairs are averaging 8+ months to complete and return since the US Grand Seiko operation shut down the Canadian office. Fired the staff and brand representatives.

This supposedly short transition has turned into futility and frustration for many collectors based in Canada. Japan needs to pay attention here. The brand goodwill is fast evaporating. With the Higher Price point, expected better after sales service.

My watch has been in limbo 5 months now. No word from USA or the Authorized Dealer in Canada when it’s time to get my watch back.

Swedish razor today. The MK 31

Part of a 7 day set from Sweden. The Heljestrand MK31 —these blades hone easily and the thin grind makes them sing.

Another day at a watch store

Some eye candy, coffee, snacks and drinks. Well spent Saturday where watch collectors gather with discussions about watches and hot topics.

3 days since the last shave is perfect…

The best shaves for me are often to hold off for 2-3 days rather than shave daily. Today was just perfect. Vintage 8/8 Spanish Filarmonica with an OG Tabac shaving soap.

Vintage Zenith Stellina

This 37mm chronograph from a fellow collector was in my care recently. Handwound, mid 1950s. Case is 18k gold. Bracelet also stamped 18k/750 gold but from aftermarket.
