Just before Mr. Williams retired, he had created for a group buy several options of straight razors for a Facebook enthusiast page. I had chosen this design. Only several exist from the group buy.
I left a deposit and messaged Robert that I wanted my razor to be the last one delivered. It was more that I had time to wait. Little did I know that very soon after he would retire. After over 15 years creating custom straight razors. It’s a prized razor that hones and shaves extremely well.
Ok. Not really. But imagine. Some assembly required.
I had the honour of a factory tour of the Geneva office and the Journe factory workshops outside Geneva. 8 years ago it was still fairly available to buy from a retailer. Mr Journe personally conducted parts of the tour. Top tip - brush up and learn just a bit of the French language to get the full tour experience.
Locle & Geneve marking on the dial— according to a Google search it was created by Ulysse Nardin in the era of 1910-1930 timeframe. I have not come across many pocketwatches from UN. This one is in great condition.
Recently posted about VIOFO dash cam I am going to install. I did this today and blessed the sunny day.
First, thank you and great gratitude to all the members with insights, suggestions of their experience with dashcams in their vehicles, and especially the Miata.
The front installation is fairly straightforward and it’s just deciding which side to install the front camera. I placed the front camera on the passenger side. No disruption of sight line or distraction of screen video while I drive. Straightforward install and the camera wire hidden mostly along the weather stripping.
The rear camera represented a different challenge—because of the convertible top. How to have this up?
I used a black large paper clip. Double sided 3M tape included in the camera kit felt secure enough for this lightweight rear camera. And then got of the clip holders by pushing it in and removing them from the clip body.
Today, I’ll try to drive the car top down at different speeds. Really have to see the rear camera and the wind deflector worked together without losing that camera!
This dashcam kit just arrived. Hoping to install this unit this weekend on my NC.
Then I will review and write about the good, bad, and maybe ugly of installation and usage. And share video footage as well. Let know now if you have questions. I’ll keep them in mind. Thanks.
