DLC game logic

Anyone else notice the pathing and building logic that the game uses has improved since the DLC?

I'm working on my first town, and always prefer to let the town grow mostly organically, and this time around is just feels like the roads are less random and the houses are build more logically without leaving weird gaps and angles that don't leave enough space for another house even though their should have been.

Really enjoying it!

Also, the added farms and crofts do so much work to help the village feel more diverse and interesting to look at. I haven't even started to do anything with the Harvest Festival yet, but I'm already loving the new options.

Depicting firearms in a swashbuckling campaign

How would you mechanically represent the advantage that firearms had over regular weapons in their ability to pierce armor?

I want to run a swashbuckling campaign, and instead of just telling players that heavy armor was less common I want to give a mechanical reason that players may choose lighter armor and firearms over heavier armor.

Is there another couch like this one anywhere?

I'm looking for a couch that is like this one; the La-Z-Boy Armitage line.

Because of the space I'm putting it, the lay flat headrest is the must have feature I am looking for.

I can spend $3,000 maybe even $3,500 on a couch, but I can't justify the $4,300 this one is at stock and getting it in a pet friendly fabric would push it up to $5,400.

I cannot find any other couch with this combination of features.

Help!

Looking for group?

Is there anywhere better than the generic LFG sub-reddits to find a group to play Genesys with?

Riff on Aarakocra

I want to home brew a version of the Aarakocra that have effectively lost their ability to fly after generations of peace among the race have bred out the strength they needed to beat their wings hard enough to generate flight. IF a player can get their STR to a certain score, they regain the ability to fly for as long as their STR is at the level.

I don't have enough experience to know what that should be though. I wanted to pick a number that's high enough that it will be near impossible to regain flight permanently. I know through level ups, STR can reach 20.

Any thoughts from more experienced players?

Hey so we're 14 seasons and 2 expansions in...

When are we getting new character creation options?

We've had the same face and hair and jewelry options for over 2 years.

I'm not paying $25+ dollars for a single skin, but I'd pay for more expanded character creation options.

Can someone explain cold brew science to me?

I see most cold brew recipes calling for a brew time of 18 to 24 hours. I have found that the best brew time for me is 36 hours at a ratio of 8 ounces of coffee to 32 ounces of water.

Is this a completely insane recipe and why do I think 36 hours taste so much better but also so much different than 18 to 24 hours?

Is there a limit on Pestilence swarms?

The glyph bonus appears to max out at 15, but I can’t tell if that’s an unwritten cap on the glyph or if my swarms are capped at 15 and I just can’t see they’re disappearing early.

People still telling me my testing is wrong

% based thorns bonuses do not increase thorns based damage dealt by Gorilla Primary Spirit Hall. It does increase Thorns

Testing with Rock Splitter as my only source of thorns. 3026 damage.

Skilling into Toxic Skin with Thorns upgrade. 3026 damage.

Skilling into Armored Hide with Thorns upgrade. 3026 damage.

Activating Payback with Insidious Retribution upgrade. 3026 damage.

Activating Devourer with Thorns upgrade. 3026 damage.

You can see my Thorns stat growing from 9182 to 20,201 as I skill into or activate each of the upgrades mentioned, but the damage done with Gorilla Primary Spirit Hall thorns stays consistent.

Tested Wumba's Embrace seal with X% thorns damage, tested with Spiney Skin legendary node. Same results.

Tested using Thorns from Wumba's Embrace two set charms, and Thorns from Razorplate, and Thorns from tempers, and Thorns from legendary affixes to see if thorns from different sources would pick up the multipliers. Same results.

I'm going nuts trying to replicate what other people are telling me works. I'm not crazy. It's broken.

I also tested Rock Splitter third hit, Crushing Fist, and Armored Hide evade, to see if the upgrades that add thorns damage to attacks unrelated to the Gorilla Primary Spirit Hall would calculate in the multipliers. Neither did.

The only time the multipliers appear to get calculated in is when the damage is from a thorns retaliation hit.

Back with pictures to see if anyone can figure this out with me

Balazan's isn't acting right. I've been trying to figure it out, it's not adding up.

I'm totally stripped down.

  • No unnecessary gear
  • Nothing but a single basic skill
  • No paragon
  • No spirit halls affecting damage output
  • Nothing on my charms or seals

>Your Casts damage Close enemies for 150% of your Thorns

10,000 * 1.218 * 1.50 = 18,270 * 20% = 3,654 (near exact the 3,652 damage shown on screen).

>and also deals 100% of this damage as Poisoning over 3 seconds

3,654 damage / 3 seconds / 2 ticks per second = 609 (tick on screen is 336 or 2016 damage over 3 seconds).

That's a 45% loss of damage compared to what I should expect from these pants.

EDIT: another fun fact I just tested. Physical damage X% doesn't increase the initial thorns proc, and DoT X% doesn't increase the Poisoning procs, but All Damage X% increases them both.

How to calculate the DoT on Balazan's Mactlatl

This seems like it should be so easy.

  • Deal 150% of your thorns damage to close enemies
  • Also deals 100% of this damage as poisoning over 3 seconds.

I attack, my thorns deals 3744 damage. I can calculate this amount out without an issue. I would expect the DoT ticks to deal 624 damage each (3744 divided by 3 for the three second duration divided by 2 for two ticks per second).

My ticks are only dealing 344. Why?

I don't understand storm feathers

Eagle primary spirit hall says casting and eagle skill shoots storm feathers.

Sunbird's Gorget says that picking up storm feathers forms a firestorm around you.

I am not seeing any pick-up-able storm feathers generating from the Eagle spirit hall. Where are these supposed pick-up-able storm feathers coming from?

Gorilla thorns in broken... and not the good kind

I've always been a fan of thorns builds, so it drives me nuts that the devs can't make thorns work as you'd expect when reading the skills/items.

None of the skills/items that give +% thorns increases the gorilla hall thorns damage.

Toxic skin upgrade, armored hide upgrade, payback upgrade, Wumba's affix on seal... nope, nope, nope, and nope.

It's kinda bullshit.

Is there a way to perma-evade?

If I wanted to attempt an evade thorns build using armored hide, is there any way in the game currently to have unlimited evade like the old evade builds on spiritborn?

Bitter medicines hidden limit

Was toying with an idea of using Selig to keep my life stat super low, then using various healing skills/affixes to rapidly heal to trigger bitter medicine. However, it seems, that bitter medicine has an undisclosed cooldown or something. I was only getting it to trigger once every three seconds, give or take.

Was I missing something, or can anyone confirm this for me?

Effects on hit don’t work how you’d expect

I was messing around with the crushing hand upgrade that causes its third attack to hit 12 times with a life on hit weapon equipped. What I found was that I wasn’t regaining life with each hit. Instead I received life once per cast, as long as that cast hit an enemy.

In other words, I gained life once instead of 12 times when striking a single target.

This is also true of the gorilla primary spirit hall. Which says,Attacking with a gorilla skill deals thorns to each enemy you hit. This implied to me that each hits adds thorns to the damage. This is not the case, with crushing hand dealing thorns once, even on the third attack with hits 12 times.

Maxroll or Mobalytics for Counterswarm build?

I generally find Maxroll guides to be more to my liking, but the counterswarm build is confusing me. They are using loyalties mantle with the jaguar as primary and secondary spirit halls. Issue is that, due to the spirit hall bug, neither counter or rushing claw get to be countered as jaguar skills.

I don't understand how that set up is even on par with the Harmony of Ebawaka with Gorilla and Eagle spirit halls set up that Mobalytics is using.

Out of space and can't uninstall

I managed to install two instances of battle.net with two instances of Diablo 4 on my SteamDeck and now I don't have sufficient storage space to launch battle.net at all, which means I can't uninstall one of the copies of Diablo.

I'm stuck. How can I uninstall one of these copies if I can't launch battle.net?

Is Balazan's Maxtlatl usless?

>Your Casts damage Close enemies for 150% of your Thorns and also deals 100% of this damage as Poisoning over 3 seconds. Each time you've retaliated with Thorns, for 5 seconds the Poisoning damage is increased by 100%, up to 300%.

Is there a use case for this item even on a poison based build?

It's per cast, not per hit, and only increases "the" poisoning damage (presumably of the item itself) and not "your" poisoning damage as a whole.

So it doesn't benefit from the plethora of attack skills Spiritborns have that have multiple hits per cast and it doesn't increase poisoning damage for other skills, just it's own.

That's bad, right?

Someone explain Incarnate Skill Passives

I understand was passive means. What I don't understand is why there are so many ways to obtain the passives.

You can add points to the skill and I assume you only get the passive it it's on your skill bar, there are unique items for each, granting the passive effect, and now there's the charm set that grants you the passive. Why?

Do they stack if you obtain the passive effect multiple times? I fail to see how these are useful additions to the items that grant them.
