YouTube Community Posts

I feel like they've turned YouTube into a discount Reddit. I'll scroll through my front page, and half the recommendations are posts. And, 75% are from channels I've never heard of. And, they're not even good! There always the dumbest, most lukewarm memes ever. And, I know there almost all reposts from Reddit and Discord.

And don't get started on the "FIX ANTI MOJANG, BEDROCK ANTISPIRAL WASHING MACHINE VIRAL WALLSPIN!" crap.

I wish I had gotten a screen recording of it, but there was one time I was looking for something to watch, and I scrolled for like 3 minutes of nothing but community posts, shorts, and ads.

Power Metal vs Neoclassical Metal vs Symphonic Metal

I know what Power Metal is, and I know what Symphonic Metal is, and I know what the differences are between the two, but I don't know what Neoclassical metal is. It seems like a mix between Power and Symphonic? If that is the case, it seems kinda unnecessary. Can someone explain this to me?

Gimme Metal Suggestions You Think I've Never Heard Of.

Either obscure songs from big artists, or songs from small artists.

I'm mainly looking for Power Metal, but feel free to suggest any genre, I also love Thrash, Trad, Folk, Symphonic, Neoclassical, and Melo-death.

I'd prefer song suggestions, not album suggestions or artists (because I'm lazy 😅), but you can recommend an artist along with a handful of their songs.

You're in for surprise, you're in for a shock
In London town streets where there's darkness and fog
I'm going down, all the way down
I'm on the highway to hell from here

Blessed by the night, holy and bright
Called by the toll of the bell
Oh Mr. Crowley, did you talk to the dead
Sleep with the devil and then you must pay

In an abandoned land
Come on in child take my hand
I Hear a rising force
Watch the devils, the damned
They're gonna break their chains
Through the night you can hear them

Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me you can't see a thing
Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised
Blood on your face you big disgrace

A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you can see
Appears like a wonder without any move
Gonna get close, closer to you

In an abandoned land
Come on in child take my hand
I Hear a rising force
Watch the devils, the damned
They're gonna break their chains
Through the night you can hear them

What are the most extreme metal genres

The heaviest stuff I listen to is Melodeath, Meloblack, Blackened Power Metal, Metalcore, that kind of stuff (with some Bolt Thrower, if I'm in the mood).

The less extreme Extreme Metal, like Black, Death, Deathcore, Groove, Doom, etc, it's not really my thing, but I can see the appeal.

But the super extreme stuff (War Metal, Slam/Brutal Death, Goregrind, Warnoise, Blacknoise, Noisegrind, Raw Black Metal, Deathgrind, Dissonant Black/Death, Harsh Noise) you know, the stuff that is a 9 or 10 on the extremo-meter, I just do not understand. I do not see the appeal, a lot of it doesn't even seen like music to me. I know that phrase is overused, but what I mean, is I generally cannot discern a melody, lyrics, or distinct instrumentation when I listen to it. All I hear is growling, screaming, and blast beats.

I know this is post is going to seem offensive to fans of these genres, but that is not my intention. I genuinely want to hear your guys' thoughts about these genres, what appeal they have to you, how you came to enjoy them, etc.

Any Melodeath suggestions for me?

These are my favorite Christian metal bands, but I realize I'm lacking Christian music in one of my favorite genres, Melodeath. (Also Thrash, but I check out the sidebar for that, Melodeath doesn't have a dedicated section, and I do not like straight up Death Metal).

Does Rammstein have any happy songs/songs with happy meanings?

Their songs are all so dark and disturbing, songs about dying, cannibalism, incest, orphans, murder, etc.

Don't get me wrong, that's part of the reason I love Rammstein, but it makes me curious if they have any songs with genuinely happy meanings.

Hot Take: Jugulator is Amazing

I just listened to the entire Jugulator album for the first time, and I'm a huge fan. There are only a half dozen or so of Priest's albums I'd rate higher than it.

First of, that album art, just awesome.

The album itself is definitely one the heaviest Priest albums (arguably more-so than Painkiller). I think "evil" is a great way to describe it's sound. If you like Thrash Metal, it's very Thrash-Metally. I can definitely see the Pantera influences.

Sure, it has some forgettable tracks, but Cathedral Spires, Bullet Train, Decapitate, and Burn in Hell are some of my new favorite Judas Priest Songs.

It's main criticism is the lyrics, which is probably why I don't dislike it nearly as much as some people do, because I don't really care about lyrics all the much.

It doesn't have Halford and it kind lacks that Judas Priest sound, but I think from an objective standpoint, it's quite good.

The Ultimate Bannerlord Game. Map/Factions beyond Calradia.

This map is a combination of real M&B canon, head-canon, and various lore theories. The geography is entirely canonical (except for the big sea out east), as this is the full world map in the Bannerlord files. This is essentially what how I imagine the world or Bannerlord/what I'd add if I could. I tried to make all the new cultures/kingdoms both distinct and plausible lore-wise. If I had the skill and 2 years to kill, I'd turn this into a mod.

Darshi Shahdom: Fully Canonical: Inspired by the Persians/Sassanids. I'd be surprised if TW doesn't already have plans to implement them in the future.

Rhodoks: Canonical, but not Lore Accurate: I was inspired by the Rise of the Rhodoks mod, I feel like they would be a cool addition, even though they actually don't show up for another couple centuries.

Republics of Geroia: Partially Canonical: Mentioned in the Warband lore, but the location is not specified, and their are a lot of contradictions. Some say it's along the Perassic Sea, which is what I went with. Could be another Imperial faction, or have it's own culture, possibly Spanish or Greek inspired.

The Vakken and Vanni Tribes: Canonical but not Lore Accurate: Their location is fairly accurate, but in Bannerlord they are not independent, they are part of Sturgia. They could be independent. They would both have the Vakken culture and start off as allies.

Jumne: Mostly Canonical: The original homeland of the Nords. A barren land inhabited by wild and barbaric people. Inspired by the stereotypical fantasy barbarian culture, or perhaps the Sami. A castle or two with ports would be added to the Northern Coast of Nordvyg.

Balion: Mostly Canonical: The ancient relatives of the Vlandians. The spot I put it might no be accurate, but it's the only lace that makes sense. A somewhat isolated place, with not much contact with the mainland, besides with Vlandia and the Nords (and Lotki, I suppose). Possibly a pseudo-viking type faction inspired by Anglo-Saxons/Jutes.

The Great Horde: Mostly Canonical: The group that pushed the Khuzaits westward. Inspired by the Mongols. Their country would be huge, but sparsely inhabited. The Khuzaits would need to be tweaked to be more Turkish to make them more distinct.

Jawwal: Mostly Canonical: Inhabitants of the Far Southern Nahasa. Inspired by Aksum/Nubians. Could perhaps be dual cultured kingdom, with the West being a Tuareg type culture and the East being an Aksumite type culture, with the center being largely uninhabited.

Nachagan: Partially Canonical: The lore isn't clear what has become of the Nachagan, but we know they are out east. I don't have a lot of ideas for them, besides being enemies of Great Liang. Possibly inspired by the Gokturks or the Hephthalites, that would be pretty cool.

Great Liang: Not Canonical: Someone else's headcanon that I liked. Inspired by China. Perhaps, could be a culture split into multiple kingdoms, like the Empire (Left to Right: Huaxia, Central Liang, Former Liang, and Zhian).

Tyzan: Not Canonical: Inspired by Japan. Perhaps, could have each clan be its own kingdom, but start as allies, kinda like Feudal Japan. Almost all their settlements would be along the southern coast.

Lotki: Barely Canonical: We know it exist. Beyond that, we know nothing. Theories about it being out east, but I put it where it is, because SOMETHING definitely needs to be there. Inspired by the Barbary Pirates/Southern Corsairs.

Zendar: Barely Canonical: Similar situation as Lotki. I don't really have any ideas for this one.

Ghytia: Not Canonical?: Honestly, I have no idea where this name originates from, but I've seen multiple people include it (all in different places). Inspired by West African empires like Mali.

Terra Incognita: Essentially no information about these areas. Little to no plausible theories/theories I thought fit. These areas would be empty, but still have rivers and terrain and stuff, and could still be traveled to (though there isn't much reason to).

Starting Wars:

Vlandia - Rhodoks

Vlandia - Sturgia

Western Empire - Southern Empire

Western Empire - Northern Empire

Southern Empire - Northern Empire

Khuzait - Great Horde

Nords - Vanni

Nords - Vakken

Aserai - Darshi

Balion - Lotki

Balion - Zendar

Lotki - Zendar

Ghytia - Jawwal

Great Liang (or All Great Liang factions) - Tyzan

Great Liang (or All Great Liang factions) - Nachagan

All Great Liang factions - All Great Liang factions

Battania, Geroia, and Jumne would start off at peace.

Let me know if I'm missing anything, or if you have any cool theories or ideas.

I've recently gotten into Folk Metal, got any suggestions? Also, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the genre.

I mainly like Power Metal, Trad Metal, Thrash Metal, Melodeath, and Blackened Power Metal, as well as all the bands shown above, though I haven't heard much from any of them.

My friend described Rammstein as "Dystopian Rock".

My friend, who isn't a metalhead at all, but he does listen to it occasionally (when I'm in control of what we're listening to) described Rammstein as "Dystopian Rock", and I'd have to agree. Not so much their themes, but just the way they sound. Their music sounds very dystopian, like a sound track for a 1984 type movie. Maybe that is just the Industrial Metal sound (I wouldn't really know, as Rammstein is the only Industrial Metal I listen to).

I just thought this was interesting revelation, and I'm curious to here other's thoughts.

Any insight on what the heck happened here?

This is on my most downloaded mod. At first it followed the standard pattern of getting a bunch of downloads and then dropping off after a couple days. Then there is a major spike, and a bunch of downloads for 3 months straight, then 5 months after the first release (with no updates), it gets an insane spike in downloads that continues for 3 weeks, before dropping to more normal levels. All that with no significant increase in page views (there is an odd spike, but it doesn't really line up with the download spikes).

Does anyone know what is happening here? No other mod of mine has ever had this pattern. I'm genuinely perplexed, some might even say I'm baffled.

Edit: Also, it has a much lower endorsement to download ratio than most of my mods (1/217 vs 1/~60).
