Has the UK trans community had any dealing with Mackenzie Scott?

I was just thinking yesterday it's a shame we don't have someone with similar wealth to JKR fighting for our side of the argument. Then I read about MacKenzie Scott, former partner of Jeff Bezos. She is a high health ally of LGBT+ organisations having donated a LOT of money, she also seems like someone with real values!

I wondered if the UK community has had any dealings with her, or if anyone has considered approaching her?

You never know, she might even consider a little donation to something like the Good Law Project! Wouldn't that be great to help us defend against these GC attacks?

(For info, I'm a 52 year old trans woman living in the SE UK. Been out for about a year, and I'm just enthusiastic to try and help. I have a lot to learn I'm sure, and I have a drive to learn it).

Do we have our own version of JKR on OUR side?

Just wondered, with the debate being so polarised and obviously well-funded on the GC side with people like JKR, do we have anyone like that on our side?

I feel like we need some wealthy backers who want to use their resources to help our side of things, for mounting legal challenges etc. Do we have anyone like that? Or can we appeal to anyone?

Alter hairline on non lace synthetic pixie cut

Hi everyone,

I have a few of these now and it's probably the style I'll stick with. However, my head is quite flat at the back and wig grips etc are not effective.

I tend to have to have the wig quite low on my forehead for a secure fit.

I don't like the way this looks and would rather it be higher. It there anyway I could just cut out a 'notch' from the hairline, as this is the only part that is visible? Then the wig could sit secure and low, but appear to be higher.

Any help appreciated XX

Stockpile estrogen for emergency?

Hi, I've probably been reading too much online lately and worrying myself but here's my question. Is there a way I could stockpile a 5 year supply of my HRT in the extreme situation where a future UK government try to restrict transgender healthcare.

I currently take 3 mg of oestrogen gel per day.

I've not any experience in making my own supplies, and currently get it from my GP.

Thank you in advance for any info on this XX

Same wig with two cap constructions but which is better?

I bought a cheap wig but really like it, so I tried to get spares.

However, the next two that turned up (one spare and one for the gym) have different internal construction.

I feel that somehow they are inferior but could anyone give some insight on this please? I'm new to wigs and don't understand.

The first one (that I've worn a lot) has an open wefted construction with the rose crown. In the stock photo it's a blond wig but my wigs are all in the dark colour.

The 'spare wigs' have the all over mesh-type crown. The hair is still in wefts just the same on the outside but no full gaps and there is mesh. Also in this one there is very minimal elastic, but the mesh itself give a little stretch.

Which is best? I'm at a very fragile stage of gender-transition and a bad day with a wig could really set me back I fear. Or are these just two comparable 'cheap' wig types?

Thank you XX

Wig tape and keeping wig on while performing

https://preview.redd.it/z54ugzxkci0h1.jpg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39b32153c8dbcd63c0144a8f8bba7eae6411e5a6

Okay! I'm LOVING wearing my wig now and have been everywhere in it, even for my solo gigs performing in care homes.

However, I'm yet to find the best way to secure it to my head.

It is a short pixie cut wig, very basic cheap synthetic wefted/rose wig cap. Looks okay to me for now though.

I put a little tape at the front back and sides, but I find either the wig seems to be 'pulling' my scalp one way or another, or the wig feels a bit 'high' and slightly loose.

Are there any good general tips for wig tape usage and placement? It actually feels quite good WITHOUT tape, but I'd be too scared it would just slip off mid gig!

Any tips appreciated thank you XX

Bought same wig twice, but cap is different- help me understand please!

The second (wefted) image is actually the first wig I bought and have been happily wearing all week.

The other is a spare one I bought from the same listing. However the cap is completely different. It doesn't fit as well and will need adjusting.

Is one inherently a higher quality, and will one be cooler?

Thank you for any help - I'm having a 'wig' moment this week!!

Sweated in gym wig, what can I expect now?

I went to the gym today and for the first tie wore my wig. I actually think I sweated less than at work (performing) as at least the gym has great aircon.

Yet, I still sweated, what can I now expect from my short pixie wig?

It was already getting a bit clumsy and stiff after wearing it all week - would it just be more?

I',m thinking of just keeping one as a specifically 'gym wig'.

Thanks for any tips on this. It actually felt so goo to look like my 'normal' self in the gym!

Best wishes everyone X

How to clip back a no lace pixie synthetic, to look ok?

I really like this wig but it flops and is better clipped back.

I am trans woman new to regular wig wearing and wondered if there is a good way to clip this back slightly so it looks ok?

When I do it now it just looks so obviously a wig. I know it’s not the most convincing wig anyway but it’s what I have for now !

Thank you x

(my words/points but AI used to reduce waffle)

I'm a (concerned) trans woman, HRT since 2024, no surgery, passing maybe 40% of the time. I have real skin in this game.

Trans people are valid at every stage - that's not what this is about. But I think our strategy on single-sex spaces is making things worse.

Ordinary cis women - not TERFs - consistently tell me the same thing: they're fine with trans people in these spaces if someone has clearly gone through a process. Not surgery. A process. That threshold also closes the bad-faith "any man can claim access" argument - it protects us as much as anyone.

That threshold doesn't currently exist in any useful legal form. The 2025 Supreme Court ruling hollowed out the GRC. Labour promised GRA reform and shelved it. Non-binary people have no legal recognition at all - which is why gender-neutral provision needs to be part of this, not an afterthought.

Blanket Self-ID isn't achievable here and pushing it has fuelled this backlash. I know saying that reads as doing TERFs' work. I'd argue the opposite - ignoring political reality is what puts all of us at risk.

If we don't define this middle ground ourselves, Reform will. Their version will look nothing like ours.

(I know I might get ripped to shreds for this! But it's in good faith. It feels like all-out war right now and we're losing. The way forward is understanding ordinary cis women, not TERFs. I think we've stopped listening to them.)

I have my signed deed polls ready to go, but I'm not sure what I should be updating first. Obviously want to do everything as speedily as poss, without consecutive waiting periods if I can avoid them.

What is the absolute most efficient way to do this. I'd like to update :

Passport
Driving Licence
Banks
Bills etc
NHS

But which first?

I know it's been asked before but wanted to get most up to date info. Thank you if you can help XX
