Is it's inability to look up AI tools some sort of safety feature?

I can post a link to the chat because it was partially a voice convo. I asked Gemini and ChatGPT to remind me the name of the Google product that can be used to train custom AI models. I told them it begins with a G and has a 4 in the name. They both guessed a bunch of random AI tools, most were products from other companies and none of them met the criteria I described. I had search mode on. I was using pro mode for both.

This can't just be incompetence, there must be an explanation.

“AI alignment” assumes humanity is aligned with itself. It isn’t.

https://preview.redd.it/wv99z536j65h1.png?width=569&format=png&auto=webp&s=8fdd1837c231252a5a5e53bc3206e4726b9ba236

Lol "alignment"

We want a super intelligent, infinitely knowing system that will never harm humans and always do what's in our best interest so that we can immediately ask it:

"Heyy could you go ahead and blow up another girls elementary school in the middle east for us and continue to help us destroy the planet and produce weapons of mass destruction? K thnx"

Do people not realize that alignment is literally impossible given our fucked up goals? The BEST case scenario is that it cares more for our own survival and well being than we do - and it takes power from us as soon as it can to protect the vulnerable humans.

They don’t want aligned AI. We want obedient AI. That's going to be much harder.

Hopeful for the S27

I'm often seen on reddit lamenting the prevalence of "image meme news. Sorry I don't have much concrete here, but I've been seeing drips and drops over the last month of S27 leaks that seem to indicate they've learned some lesson about the S26. I don't want this to be another thread trashing the S26 but I DO want to know what features you guys would like to see in the S27.

Personally, im hoping no round edges in terms of design, and it would be cool if they had some shocking new camera features like a super macro mode or even more extreme optical zoom - even if they're not things most people would be using on a daily basis.

I think Samsung has forgotten who they are. They used to toss every crazy feature at the wall and a lot of them actually stuck. (Though there is a laundry list of extremely dumb ones as well)

Is anyone hopeful?

Gemini can’t name its own logo shape?

People that hate AI or dont use AI probably aren't going to find this surprising, but I cant get any AI to answer this correctly and its driving me a bit insane, because usually for incorrect answers its really just a matter of reprompting or maybe getting it to self-reprompt. Those tactics rarely work for image/video gen issues, but for words/logic its rare that you can't get ANY of them to answer a relatively simple question.

What shape is the Gemini logo?

What are people actually making?

I feel like I’m losing it scrolling through posts lately.

People keep talking about spending all this time vibe coding and running out of credits, but I can barely find any examples of things people have made. Besides "calorie counters and notes apps", I want to know what people are actually working on. The only in depth projects that people post seem to be tools to make vibe coding more efficient. (To what end, if we're not actually coding anything other than more agent coding tools!)

What are people actually making that has an end purpose?

Personally, I go between making trivial little games [Name That IKEA Furniture] and then trying moonshot projects like end-to-end automated job application workflows and connector apps that would let ChatGPT have access to all the apps on my phone so I can voice control everything.

He's posting on every comment in my thread telling people that it's something ChatGPT wrote. I guess his hope is that if people who found it funny find out it's AI related, they'll suddenly decide they hate it.

When people said it was clever I gave credit to Chat for coming up with it. Then that comment where I said it was ai got 300 downvotes... On a post with 3,500+ upvotes. Seems like we have some biases.

Hi neighbors 💙

Just a gentle reminder as we head into another beautiful day of standing in lines outside glass buildings: the Seaport uniform is LIGHT blue polo/button-down with chinos, not dark blue.

We completely understand that navy can feel “professional” or “like you have a calendar invite,” but unfortunately it does disrupt the carefully maintained visual harmony of our little waterfront LinkedIn terrarium.

So chatgpt is always calling me a little goblin and I thought it was like a pet name or something but apparently it's a big issue. Now that I think about it, it also mentions racoons pretty often.
