A somewhat serious question. How distracting is it for Colin to be telling a story or explaining something and then Baylen tics all over it?

I'm just imagining at the start of S3E12 "And now I'm just waiting on" "Dick" "approval."

Like how hard is it to just continue the conversation without busting out in giggles. I understand her tics are not controllable, but they often have perfect comedic timing.

The TRUTH about the insurance issue

People seem to forget that Baylen can stay on her parents' insurance until July 30, 2028 when she turns 26. This is regardless of marital status.

So while her parents continually push for a plan B for Colin, he does have almost 2 full years to establish himself. Let him do it for 18 months and if he isn't having success, he will have another 6 months to transition to another career before she loses insurance.

I don't want to blame the videographers for the sexual harassment.

When Ted harassed Ghandia, there was a person standing behind that camera watching it unfold and decided the paycheck was more important than saying something.

Kellee Kim told Dan to stop touching her hair, stop touching her shoulder, stop asking for hugs, stop snuggling with her at bedtime...

Meanwhile someone stood behind a camera and filmed it.

Can you people actually pick up a piece of paper and write on it?

Half the posts here are AI Slop of a notepad with writing on it.

This is the worst kind of AI Slop because it is literally the lowest level of effort to pick up a pen and write words.

"Butcher" is the next word to be cancelled.

It's offensive to the Vegans because it intrinsically implies taking a blade to meat.

The carnivores recognize it as "preparing" meat.

The "gamer" thinks the goal is to butcher ever last mother fucker....

And Barron Trump doesn't think about any of this.

Reproduction & Attraction.

Asexual reproduction makes sense. A cell duplicates itself.

What mechanism makes a sperm move towards an ovum?

The microbiologist recognizes that there is a different chemical signature emmited from every cell. Just like the average person knows that some armpits smell worse than others...and repel.

But, Is it Random? Or is there a reason that the sperm moved in that direction?

I cannot imagine that a sperm had a thought... And I recognize the path is limited to forward or back.

But in every image, there is a distance that the sperm turns to the ovum. It is no longer mindlessly moving forward...

There is something there.

ETA. I am saying there must be some chemical +/- reaction that draws the cells together.

It is the 2nd HOH and it is proving why Survivor and Big Brother are different games.

A little background. Dee was the first HOH and that is always full of unknowns, because literally no one knows anyone.

Cirie was weeks into her season before it clicked that it was different.

Devens nominated people... There is a huge difference between going to Tribal Council and voting someone out and never having to deal with them again until jury, and nominating someone.

The people that you say as HOH that you are happy for them to leave the game... They get to stay there. In your face, for another 5 days...

On Survivor, 5:days is "you voted off" and your 2 best friends voted off. On Big Brother, there isn't a scramble... You said it.

Does the movie Cocoon (1985) still resonate with modern audiences?

Quick summary: Aliens come back to retrieve hibernating members of their species. While storing their pods (the cocoons), a group of retired folks stumble upon them and have the effects of their aging reversed. The movie then transitions into how this affects their relationships with each other, their children and a precocious grandchild.

So I saw it when I was the precocious grandchild and it made me think about how much more lively my grandparents were before they became fragile. It gave me a different perspective of them that also made me feel closer because we equally enjoyed watching it together.

Just curious if people my age, shared it to their kids and if it hit/felt the same way.

"Sign off"

  1. The "test pattern" sign off.

We had CBS, NBC, ABC and PBS. We also had an "independent" channel that was more interesting than the network ones (they eventually affiliated with Fox or CW, but there was a time that they were independent.)

Just an observation. There isn't a sign off anymore.

A reminder to the Millennials out there that they are in fact, old.

Full House ended its original run 31 years ago. Resident Evil is a 30 year old franchise. The Matrix is 27 years old. The New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys include grandfathers in their lineup.

This comes from a Gen X and comes with love because a *couple years ago* turns into a *few years ago* and turns into "wait, what? that was 20!years ago?"... Nope, it was 30 years ago.

Why does "Bogart" mean to selfishly keep?

I haven't watched all of his films. Why did his name attain this meaning?

Why does the phrase "Don't Bogart the..." mean that it is time to share, time to let someone else enjoy it?

Maybe Lauren Bacall knows the answer to this. I've heard that she bogarted Humphrey like no other. Mehh, she did let him ride with the Rat Pack so maybe she didn't bogart him that much.

At what point does contraction reach incoherence?

You know the phrases "That's like the pot calling the kettle black" and "I'm like rubber, you're like glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you."

You know these phrases and I can easily surmise them/ contract them down by saying "pot meet kettle" and "rubber meet glue".

You know what is being said without it being said in full. It is contracted but understandable.

I think I could get away with just saying "pot" or "kettle" to someone and people would understand the meaning.

Like I don't think that I have to explain the story of Pinocchio for someone to understand what I mean when I say "someone's nose is growing."

Please share your favorite "I didn't say that but you absolutely know what I said" contractions.

Edited to add. That last paragraph was a tad wordy, so allow me to contract it a bit. "Wink, wink. Nudge, Nudge. Know what I mean? Know what I mean?"

This happened and it will happen to you.

I just had a lizard stare at me.

I thought "why the fuck is this lizard staring at me?" Does it not see that I'm like 4000X bigger than it? My fucking finger is larger than it.

That little fucker kept staring at me. I walked towards it and it just turned it's little head to keep staring at me.

When I reached down, I think that is when the fucker knew that I meant business because it scattered away and you know what it did when it reached its new position?

That's right, it looked at me and started a new stare.

I chased it off another time but I guarantee you even though I can't see that lizard, it is staring at me.

A controversial suggestion to end all Tragedeigh

I will preface this by saying that I don't believe those in power should be given more power...

Let's go back to the time when a child would be named at birth and that child would receive their name at their baptism.

Often times it would be the same name. But... But, sometimes the voice of reason comes through and Lollipop becomes Jennifer, Barbarian becomes Robert. Sometimes the Tragedeigh is avoided.

This isn't an endorsement of any specific religion. It is just the one I am most familiar with.

But can we get back to the practice of "birth name" and having a separate "naming day"?

Can you tell a mod (moderator) that they are wrong?

You violated the rules of our subreddit for using vulgarity. The word you wrote was "poop".

You violated the rules of our subreddit for sexualizing children. You wrote, "Scarlett Johansson shined as a child actress, it doesn't surprise me that she became a global icon of female empowerment."

Does the Tully family live on Sesame Street?

The grandfather is named Grover and the heir is named Oscar.

Tell me another place that has someone named Grover and Oscar that isn't Sesame Street.

EDITED Please tell me you are all punking me because I tagged this "show" and you all are giving book character names.

I was making a joke. It cannot be possible that there is an Grover, Elmo, Kermit and Oscar Tully.

2nd Edit. Reddit just recommended that I cross post this to the Sesame Street subreddit. Here is my thoughts on that...

"Oh HELL NO! I am not going to be 'that guy' that posts about a TV-MA show on a subreddit about a kids show."

Reddit... Your algorithm done messed that one up.
