I love being misandrist and ageist on writing subreddits
Bc why are old men writing at all!! I don’t care about your movie about world war 2 and how you hate women

I know it was meant as a compliment and I know that in my practice right now I’m mainly writing about young women (as a young woman myself, I promise I’m not like 50 writing about teenage/early 20s girls) but I’ve always sort of been scared of my scripts being ‘teenager-y’ since that was my life up until very recently. Anyway, if anyone has any tips for expanding my audience while still keeping young women as the heart of my stories I would really appreciate it 🥲
It’s not maladaptive because I can easily step away from it but I’m scared that I like daydreaming more than my real life right now and I don’t know how to fix that.
Purely to be read so no cast or staging requirements
I’m writing a play for a class but really struggling with a character relationship that happens off stage that isn’t just one of the characters explaining what happened and a bunch of exposition. I’d love to see if there’s any plays that have this sort of premise and to see how that do it!!
So I mainly have a background in writing for theatre (I’m now in a place where I’m getting paid for writing and I’m starting to get more consistent work) but I’ve also started to develop an interest in film as well. I did film studies in high school but I’m not too sure on how the industry works compared to theatre in terms of writing and directing so I’d love to hear from people that are in it! Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated!
I’m thinking very 2010s feminist songs where we were like 8 and like “omg they just solved feminism”
Edit: also most girls by hailee steinfeld or the man by Taylor swift. That vibe.
I need a super dramatic 80s synthy intro please!!
So I might be moving out of state in about 6 months for school and want to take my cat with me but I’m a bit worried if we travel by plane if he’ll be placed with other cats. My other option is travelling by car or van but I think a 12+ hour drive would be really stressful for him. Does anyone have any experience with this or any tips on the best way to go about this?
Edit: He’s 5 and a rescue, adopted him a few months ago and love him to bits but I have zero experience with travelling with pets, let alone immunocompromised pets
Purely to be read so no cast requirements. Thanks in advance!
Is this normal? My hyperfixation right now is roleplay games and fanfiction and literally it’s the only thing making me happy. My ocd meds have made me feel numb recently so hopefully when I change those this will change as well.
It’s not addictive, I can go days without it and I have done it before but yeah
So I have an assignment due on Friday that I’ve done about one third of. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with an episode + trying to be normal and studying because I’m struggling a bit. I’m trying my best not to stress myself out and put pressure on myself which will probably exasperate my symptoms but also it needs to get done eventually.
Open to advice or support
So I’m in the middle of an ocd episode rn, I’m 21 and I haven’t had a multi day episode like this since I was 17. I feel so insane. My theme rn is if things in my life are secretly making me more mentally ill so I’m practically avoiding everything. I don’t know everything is just really hard right now. I feel so hopeless and depressed and that nothing is going to get better. I’m doing ERP way more frequently now which is good but yeah. Everything just feels so insane
Hi so I’m hoping to get medicated for ADHD next month! My psych and I are still trying to work out which of my symptoms are ocd (which I am officially diagnosed with) and which are adhd but he’s leaning more toward me having it and me being medicated in the near future.
My main question is does anyone have experience with ocd meds and adhd meds? I’m currently in the process of switching over to duloxetine (120mg) for my ocd so if anyone has any experience or advice at all I’d love to chat.
So daydreaming is a coping mechanism for me. It’s also part of my job (I’m a writer/creative) I also have quite severe ocd and have kept myself awake because I’m absolutely terrified of going to sleep and dreaming and it becomes maladaptive. I have been in a maladaptive daydream state before and i genuinely feel like im falling back into that (i know realistically that the likelihood that i am actually going back in to maladaptive daydreaming is low but my brain can’t tell the difference right now)
I’m not letting myself day dream at all over fear that it’ll become maladaptive but I’m so so so stressed and anxious all the time. I really don’t know how to just let myself daydream again but healthily.
So I’ve been daydreaming basically since birth. I have OCD and other traumas and *was* maladaptive daydreaming from about 17-20 (I’m 21 now and *think* I have brought myself back to a healthier level of daydreaming) but I’m so so scared of falling back into that addictive pattern again. I’m so panicked about it ruining my life. I’m doing it more and more often and I know I often use it as a coping mechanism but I just don’t know what to do. I’m really really scared
Hi so I’m 21 and currently looking for jobs in arts admin, specifically as a literary assistant. I have experience working in admin for my local emergency department part time and doing paid writing (articles and fiction) on the side. I also have experience in events admin and judging for artist competitions in my area. I’m wondering if there’s anything else i should work towards or mention to up my chances of working in a literary management field? Or any advice really for someone looking for a role like this! Would really appreciate it!!
Edit: unfortunately university isn’t an option for me right now due to cost and accessibility but i am more than happy to volunteer for on the job experience
