How does Strava know my future travel plans?

Is there any way this is coincidence? I am going biking in Croatia in September. Around the islands. It’s in my Apple calendar and in my airlines app but besides that I don’t have it anywhere. I’m a little freaked out!!

Edit:
I’ve responded to a bunch of comments but I’ll say it here too. I have never mentioned Croatia in any captions or descriptions or comments. I have never looked at, created, or saved and Croatian routes. We’re going with a company and it’s fully planned out so I’ve released it.
I bet it’s the calendar setting that one person mentioned. Freaky AF tho.

Someone else’s activity published to my Strava account?

Got a notification this morning that I had logged a new activity.

I assure you, I did not run 7 miles at 2am last night, at near world-record pace. Nor have I ever logged a run with Withings. And no such activity appears in my Withings app or Apple fitness history. (And no, it wasn’t from being tagged in someone else’s activity.)

Older White Guy Getting Lots of Pretty Young Asian Women Followers?

Hi.

I'm an older white guy who posts to Strava.

Are any of you getting followed by pretty, young, Asian women with private profiles who have a small number of activities?

To me, it seems to be a mechanism to wedge themselves into my feed for scamming purposes.

Thanks.

Edit: Yes, I know they're not what they represent to be. Probably some guy(s) in a basement in [Insert typical scammer country name here].

Another Edit: As I've confirmed through this discussion: Yes, I know they are scammers. No, I will not make my profile private for reasons. Thank you for all the help.

Final edit: This experience proves many people do not read the actual posts.

High(er) mileage: when do you feel the fitness?

I (33M) followed hal higdon intermediate 2 peaking at 50mpw for my first marathon in 15 years last fall. I ended up running a 1:31:31 half during that training block and 3:40:40 marathon which according to comments on another post looking at my hr (178 avg) was about as good as I could hope for.

After that marathon last October, I reverse tapered back to 50mpw and maintained that mileage until I started Pfitz 18/70 targeting another marathon this coming October. I didn't do a whole lot of speed work over the winter, but I figured if I could maintain 50mpw all year, I'd make some improvements. Mileage is king from what I've heard.

I just started mesocycle 2 of Pfitz 18/70 (endurance+LT) and am running 69 miles this week, and I got to say I don't feel any more fit than last year. If anything, maybe less fit. I haven't raced since the marathon last October, but I haven't noticed a significant HR drop holding pace constant from last year, and I'm a bit skeptical I could run another 1:31:31 half.

To be fair, it's been hot the last couple weeks, but I kinda feel like I should be feeling some performance gains, either in the form of naturally increased running or lower HR. I feel like I've been recovering alright (9hrs sleep daily) and strength train 1-2x per week. I will say I feel more confident on long runs, but my pace hasn't been crazy fast. I've been doing tempo long runs starting around 9:30 and finishing the last few miles strong around race pace.

I know as you get faster gains get smaller, but at 3:40 last year I thought I'd be good for 3:30 this year given my relatively high mileage

Anyways, curious to know others experiences. Do you think I have a lot of fitness gains just yet to be realized? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance

ETA: I just had a gait analysis by a PT since I've had very minor knee pain from a former glute imbalance and some minor upper hamstring tendonopathy. The PT said my right leg lands nearly straight (vs a proper knee bend) which explains the hamstring tendonopathy. IDK how much if any that'd affect my performance.

Calling all muscle mommies! (Global Group recruitment)

I created a group for women like myself who are on their fitness journey to get STRONG.

In the past my focus in the gym was to just “get skinny” mostly just cardio. Heavy diet restriction. It was never sustainable and I would quit.

I changed my mindset this March, wanting to create a body that is strong, supported, and mine. It has changed my life. Weightlifting has seriously benefited me not only physically, but mentally as well. Not only have I been consistent in the gym, but it also changed my relationship with food. Now I fuel my body with guilt free meals that give me the energy I need for weight training, without feeling like I’m on a diet

I would love to connect with other women like myself, whose goal is to not just be “skinny” but to be strong. Please join! 🤍

$1M NW milestone - 33M, 3 kids (2 cats), single income

Just hit $1M milestone: $444k home (paid in full) and $570k assets as of today. I graduated college with a student loan from my parents (with interest) and got a starting job making $64k/yr. I got my master's in data science while working and now make $140k as a remote software engineer.

Fairly boring story, mostly have just been frugal and a bit entrepreneurial in our 20s. We were able to get a loan for our first house about 2 years after my first job since we had saved about $20k for a down payment. We had a mother-in-law suite in our basement, so renovated the bathroom and rented it out on airbnb, which just about paid our mortgage every month. We tried expanding to 2 houses and renovated the 2nd house's basement to put on airbnb, but ultimately wasn't worth it, so we sold the more expensive house, and live in a 692sqft house for about 8 years. We stayed there until my wife was pregnant with our 3rd child about 1.5yrs ago (as you can imagine, very cramped), at which point we bought a 2500sqft house in MI for $444k cash.

I grew up in a family of 8, and even though my dad made decent money as an electrician, we were always very frugal. That habits stuck with me, though we have started to spend a bit more on our kids now that they're getting older (nothing extravagant, just quality of life stuff). Over the course of our 20s, we bought nearly exclusively used things, and several times got free things from family, off the street or fb marketplace. We found a local org that sold food in bulk for cheap to cut down on groceries. And we've made a point to find cheap/free hobbies (video games, running, walking, etc).

Our frugality in our 20s has definitely paid off. I imagine as our kids get older, we'll end up spending more on sports, activities, etc, so I expect our savings to slow a bit. But having our 20s to accumulate a good chunk of change was nice, and a worthwhile investment in our future financial freedom.

Original goal was to retire on $25-35k/yr which means we'd be just about there barring an overfunded retirement account, but I "work" a super comfy remote job that i've nearly quiet quit from at this point, so don't plan on leaving. And given the uncertainty with what our spending will realistically look like as our kids get older, having a bit more of a financial cushion would be nice. I will say though if I do get laid off from this job (a real possibility as we've gone through a few rounds of layoffs already), I'll probably take some time off and maybe pursue monetizing a hobby or two of mine instead. At this point in our FIRE journey I feel like I deserve it.

ETA: 3 kids + 2 cats (so i guess 5 kids total? :P)

Diarrhea earlier in the day — can I still go for a run?

I have a run scheduled today and I would really rather not skip it. The diarrhea came in kind of suddenly but I feel ok now. Any thoughts? I searched for similar posts but most of them were about diarrhea after running lol

Ezra should have Destiny on the Ezra Klein Show

It's pretty clear to me after Destiny watching Ezra's convo with Chris Rufo that they have a very different perspective about what makes a good conversation with these conservative intellectuals, and given Ezra has one of the biggest liberal platforms on the Internet, it'd be very productive for them to hash out their views and disagreements on how these conversations ought to be had

I think Destiny believes these conversations should be much more adversarial and debate-like in nature. It seems like his main gripe is with how Ezra is happy to let these conservative intellectuals describe how they see things with little or no pushback, except on factual matters and to say "we can agree to disagree". I think Destiny would argue Ezra isn't trying to get them to concede hardly anything, which let's them spin whatever narrative of lies while coming off as knowledgeable, genuine, and good faith.

I imagine Ezra's goal with a lot of these conversations is to keep them more cordial and to understand where his guest's are coming from. Rather than debate, I believe Ezra sees his conversations with conservatives as a good-faith effort to understand their perspectives and offer a critique of their views in a kind and gentle manner. Ezra isn't trying to win, he's trying to understand.

Whatever you think the "right" strategy is to talking with these conservative intellectuals, I think it'd be extremely productive for Ezra and Destiny to have a meta conversation about these podcasts Ezra does with these conservatives. I think both of their strategies have pros and cons, and I'd really like to see the hash out their own views on the matter and grapple with the critiques the other is making.

Regardless of what you think about Destiny or Ezra, I believe they are both committed to liberalism, democracy, and ultimately the success of the Democratic party, even though they may disagree on the best way to achieve that.
