My cat has three favorite places to leave fur

I did the big Saturday vacuum and by Monday there was fur on the windowsill again. Same patch of floor under his tree, same strip across the back of the couch. At this point I should probably just call them his second, third, and fourth beds.

I used to wait until the whole apartment felt fuzzy before doing anything. Now I brush him when he'll let me and deal with these spots as I notice them instead of turning it into a whole weekend clean.

For the windowsill I use a microfiller cloth; for the loose fur around his tree I use the small hoto autocare I already have. The couch still needs a lint roller. Hair that's worked into the fabric doesn't come up the same way as the stuff doesn't come up the same way as the stuff sitting on the floor.

It's less satisfying than one dramatic clean, but I don't get to Friday feeling like the cat has taken over the apartment. Does yours have a spot that somehow looks furry again right after you clean it?

Moving from Leads to Glasgow next spring, what did your first few months cost?

Hi all, Im 36, British citizen so no visa to sort, moving up from Leeds with my partner some time next spring. Their job is transferring and I work remotely.

We're trying to work out how much cash we need to land with. Deposit and the van are easy enough to plan for. What I can't get a feel for is everything nobody lists, like heating an old tenement flat through a Glasgow January, or how council tax compares with what we pay now.

To have something to compare against, we've been logging everything we spend in Pockita since July, so at least I know what a normal month looks like for is here. Now I need to know what changes.

If you moved up from England:

What surprised you in the first three months?

Was heating much more than you expected?

Anything you wish you'd saved harder for?

How long before you stopped spending like you were on holiday?

Thanks in advance

I turned my phone into a camera for a concert

I wanted to bring something more capable to a concert, so this time I added a telephoto extender to my vivo X300 Ultra.

Installation: The whole process was actually pretty satisfying. Put on the phone case and remove the decorative ring. Then screw on the lens adapter until you hear a click, which means it's locked in place. Finally, align the white dots and attach the telephoto extender.

Telephoto shooting Camera → More → Telephoto Extender When taking photos, tap the Lens icon on the camera screen (the small icon that looks like the extender), choose the telephoto option, and hit the shutter. I can also switch between different modes and combine them with different effects and styles.

Video Camera →Video → Tap the Lens icon Audio options:

  • Standard: A more balanced audio profile for everyday shooting.
  • Concert Vocals: Emphasizes the singer’s vocals and the music while reducing audience interaction, cheering, and other ambient sounds.
  • Concert vibe: Keeps the vocals and music clear while bringing out more of the crowd’s reactions and cheers.

Stage Mode Camera →More → Stage In video, I can also choose Dual-View Video, which lets record two different perspectives at the same time.

All in all, the shooting results are excellent. I might finally have an excuse to leave the actual camera at home.

Before the trip, I bought a new cell phone instead of a camera

I recently got married and went on my honeymoon to Spain with my wife. We simply love the scenery and the food there. Since it was our honeymoon, I wanted to take really good photos and videos to capture this special time. That's why I got a vivo X300 Ultra before we left; the photo quality can easily compete with a camera, but it's much more portable.

On my last trip, I borrowed a Sony RX1R II from a friend. The photos were really beautiful, which is why I briefly considered buying one for myself. But my friend said that the camera must have cost him $2,600, not even including accessories like spare batteries. For me, that's a bit too much of an expense just to buy a camera.

I then tried out the camera functions of the vivo X300 Ultra in the store and realized that it fully meets my needs for this trip and is also much more practical. For me, it's actually the cheaper and more sensible choice

Cream blush people... How are you stopping it from disapptbt lunch

I love cream blush in theory because powder blush can start looking a little too makeup-y on me

Problem is i have combo/oily skin + live somewhere hot and by lunch half the cute flush i had at 9am has basically left the building 😭

Rn I'm using the lakme hya beach edit and I actually really like how creamy/buildable it is. The finish is exactly why I don't wanna just bury the whole cheek under powder and kill it.

So what are we doing??

Setting only around the blush? Cream blush + a tiny bit of powder blush on top? Setting spray before/after? Just carrying it and touching up?

Not looking for some mythical "18 hour sweat proof cream blush" lol. I just wanna keep that natural finish for longer without turning my cheek into a layer cake.

AI code review tool works consistently across Cursor, Claude Code

Half our team's on Cursor, other half's on Claude Code, some people flip between both depending on the day. Never thought much about it until we noticed PR feedback. Felt like it came from two different reviewers depending on which tool wrote the code stuff Cursor's agent got flagged for constantly missing error handling, weird typing, barely came up on PRs written in Claude Code. Not because Claude Code's better about it just inconsistent review depth.

Figured it was a review problem more than an agent problem, so we looked for something that runs the same checks regardless of which tool wrote the diff. Been on Qodo's Agentic Toolbox for this the last few weeks, same rules get checked whether it's cursor or claude code, so review feedback stopped depending on which tool someone happened to open that day.

Small thing but it fixed an inconsistency none of us had actually noticed until we started comparing PRs side by side.

How much would you put into a $300 hardtail before buying a commuter?

I wanted to find out whether a five-mile bike commute would stick before spending serious money on a commuter, so I started with a $300 hardtail.

The first week made the compromises obvious. The 26 x 2.1 knobby tires dragged on pavement, and carrying my laptop in a backpack left my back soaked by the time I reached work.

I swapped to 26 x 1.5 slicks, added a rear rack and pannier, and fitted front and rear lights. Those changes addressed specific problems instead of trying to turn the bike into something it is not.

The next problem was tire pressure. I had been squeezing the tire with my thumb and calling it good. Once I started checking it properly and topping it up before leaving, the bike felt noticeably less sluggish. I now keep a hoto air pump in the pannier, so I can make that part of the routine instead of guessing.

I am about $150 into upgrades, and fenders are next if I keep the bike. At what point would you stop improving a cheap hardtail and put the money toward a used hybrid or purpose-built commuter instead.

Bought a rose gold nimo laptop, building my office desk setup

The rose gold laptop goes perfectly with my rose gold keyboard, mouse, and mousepad with some white accents to complete the setup.

Now the setup is super comfortable for work and the laptop's performance is really good too. Video editing feels smoother than expected

New Project Mass Hiring!!!

Hello, we are currently mass hiring for the side hustle I've been juggling lately. Right now, we have new projects that need to be accomplished within this month. There’s a lot to do, and we need extra hands to help us market it. By the way, this side gig is more about marketing, specifically advertising some stuff (private matters, by the way).

The requirements are pretty basic; the important thing is reading comprehension, especially since payment for the first workload is immediate, even while you’re still in the training process. It's also essential that you know how Discord works because that’s really where most of our communication happens. There are also some perks, and payouts are made weekly through Gcash, PayPal, Wise, and even Crypto.

Again, this is just a side gig and you’ll be paid in dollars, but if you choose to get paid via Gcash, they will convert it directly. Check out the payment proofs that I’ll attach. If you’re interested, please check the comments section where I'll put our communication channel for applying and talking to the admin.

I hope this helps and I look forward to working with you soon.

DIY a desktop or buy an all in one ai workstation?

I'm currently using a ryzen ai 9 hx370 laptop for local ai, mostly experimenting with flash or MoE models. But as I'm getting more interested in larger models and longer context, I'm thinking about building a proper local a server.

Rn I'm considering two options: DIY a desktop or get an integrated ai workstation.

I came across this type of integrated ai workstation when I was searching for local ai server on Amazon. This type of machine combines AI compute, storage, nas functionality, and GPU expansion in one box. So far, Ive only found the nimo nexus pro in this category. Most of the other recommendations are more like ai nas products from brands such as ugreeen, but those cant really be used for local ai bc you cant install a GPU.

If I go with the DIY route, I'm thinking about something like an rtx 5080, Intel u9, 32gb ram, and 2tb storage. But Id probably still need another minipc and nas for storage and other 24/7 services.

I'm leaning toward the integrated one because it seems simpler and could replace several machines. It also means my laptop wouldn't just sit there collecting dust.

What do you guys think? How do you feel about these kinds of integrated machines?

I didn't expect being stick in bed from pain could hurt my skin too

I’ve had fibromyalgia for around three years. I thought I understood what it meant to live with pain. I know the bad days, the days where getting up feels impossible, and the days where even turning over in bed hurts too much. But nobody warned me about this part. During a bad flare, I stayed in bed for days and kept ending up in the same position because moving hurts less than trying to move. Then I noticed redness around my lower back and hips. At first I thought it would go away. It didn’t. It turned into a pressure injury, and honestly that scared me more than I expected. The wound was upsetting, but changing the dressing was its own kind of awful. My skin was already so sensitive that taking off certain dressings felt like I was ripping another layer of skin off with them. I tried band-aid, tegaderm, and some dimora foam dressings on Amazon, myb the latter could reduce some of that pulling feeling on my skin. But every change made me tense up before I even started... I’m still figuring things out with my care team. I just feel frustrated that chronic pain already takes so much from you, and then you find out your body can create another problem while you’re trying to survive a flare... I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with skin breakdown or pressure injuries during long flares. It feels like one more thing nobody talks about until it happens to you.
