Two criticisms about the expansion pack (so far)

I started a fresh playthrough and so far on adventure mode. I get that this is meant to not be super hard, but when I got to the Voth City Ship, I initially tried to fight it to defend Gegen. The difference in power at the time was 157 - 98 in favor of Voyager! The city ship was big enough and advanced enough to beam Voyager inside of it, it should have swatted me like a fly!

Second, the Harry Kim piece, it just feels... mean. Like, Janeway was never mean to Kim, a little dismissive perhaps, but never mean. Also, Kim's responses are so... submissive? Like, every time one of those pops up, I'm asking myself if I'm trapped in one of The Doctor's daydreams.

SF-HR File #1701E-00106: Alleged Sexual Harassment of Subordinate (Observed)

#Starfleet Humanoid Resources Complaint Form

Complainant Name: >!REDACTED!<

Posting: USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E

Date of Issue: 56845

Involved Parties: >!REDACTED!<, >!REDACTED!<

Type of Issue: Sexual Harassment

Event Summary: On the above noted Stardate, I, >!REDACTED!<, was on duty manning the >!REDACTED!< station on the bridge. At that time, >!REDACTED!< was on temporary assignment to the Enterprise and volunteered to serve a duty shift on the bridge as well. During this period, >!REDACTED!< and REDACTED!< were discussing an upcoming off duty event. During this discussion >!REDACTED!< expressed an unwillingness to participate without clothing as the other involved officers had planned. During this time, >!REDACTED!<, the senior officer on deck, made comments disparaging >!REDACTED!< for expressing discomfort with appearing disrobed in public, and asserted his command authority to compelled all subordinate officers present at the event to participate without clothing as well. >!REDACTED!< just left the bridge to go on an away mission, so no opportunity to discuss this was permitted. I believe >!REDACTED!<'s actions have created a hostile work environment, challenging the bodily autonomy of >!REDACTED!<, myself, and our shipmates, as I fear my commanding officer may make an unreasonable request of me or other officers to go disrobed, perhaps even on duty.

After two years, I found the problem with my emergency brake

When I took our (2018) CX-5 in for yearly inspection in 2024, my mechanic recommended getting my rear brakes done soon. Usually I would do it myself, but I said screw it and had him do it. Life was busy with work, kids, etc. During the process, the left emergency brake actuator stopped working. They replaced it twice, nothing. They swore up one way and down the other they put it in maintenance mode. Nothing was making sense from a hardware perspective, so we replaced the EPB module. Still nothing. Well, not nothing, it worked intermittently, sometime if would work if I cycled the engine, but more often than not that annoying flashing brake light was on (and cruise control wouldn't work, either).

So I eventually took it to an actual Mazda dealer. Despite explaining the issue was with the left actuator, the mechanic said he adjusted the right actuator. Odd, but the light didn't come back on. At least not for a couple weeks. I was frustrated as nothing seemed to work at this point. Did we buy a lemon? It only had 48k miles when we got it in 2022 and was fine until the brakes were worked on. Four years in, this is our primary means of transporting our two kids around; true, I could put another car seat in my car, but my work schedule and the day care schedule don't jive well, and being down a car is a pain in our house.

While I know how to turn a wrench, I'm not skilled when it comes to all the computer systems on a newer car. Nevertheless, everything I read said it was an issue with the actuator, not the computer. Tired of not seeing any progress, I decided to take things into my own hands again. This time, I bought a whole new caliper with the actuator pre-installed, on the off chance it was an issue there and the computer could just relearn the actuator position. Again, no joy. So I turned back to the internet to see if there was any new information about other people having this issue, when I found a ~30 second video showing how the wires can come loose in the harness. So I pulled back the boot on the harness, and wouldn't you know the black wire was pulled back. The kid working on my brakes at my mechanic's shop probably loosened it without knowing. I pushed the wire back in, plugged it back into the actuator, and now it works as designed.

TL;DR: It took me two years and multiple mechanics to find a loose wire that impaired my emergency brake system.

Truck driver who killed pedestrian in January given no jail time

The guy who was driving the dump truck that hit and killed Donald Jacuik in January evidently took a plea deal, and was given no jail time, and no fine.

(Mild) Nightmare Scenario

The bag snagged coming out and ripped on day one.

Contained the smell well. Until I opened it to take out the garbage

Phobio denied my trade in on a 3 month old G Stylus!

This is some hot bullshit! this phone had been in use for only three months! And I conducted a factory reset on it before I shipped it off!

Does anyone know if Motorola will deny my trade in value now? Going to have to customer service route, no doubt.

Razr Fold Case from FNTCase

Not bad, not great for ~$24. The hinge side of the front is pretty wobbly but the outer sides snap in good and it gives a nice gap between the rim and the screen which is what I go for (no screen protector though). The hinge cover is pretty snappy. Might upgrade later, but not bad while the bigger names work on something for this.

Edit: this is the price on Amazon. Can get it for cheaper on their website but it will be on a "slow boat from China" so to say.

For those of you who watched S1 in 1987, where/when did you get your syndication?

Those of us who got to watch TNG as it debuted were at the mercy of an available station picking the show up on the chance it could use it to sell enough commercial slots. 1987 was such a different landscape with regards to science fiction and in retrospect it must have been quite the gamble for these channels.

Season 1 was picked up by our local NBC affiliate, and it initially ran Saturday at noon. It was dumb luck that I caught it at the time after Saturday morning cartoons; I was five years old at the time and remember being intrigued by the space ship. It just boggles my mind that a decision by this station's management, probably made as a bit of a gamble, influenced nearly four decades of my life so much.

As I've been thinking about this recently, it made me wonder what other regions had as their options during the initial days of first run syndication.

Cases for folding phones - what features are necessary

I just put an order in for my first folding phone and I'm shopping around for cases. I'm trying to figure out how much is too much in terms of features; mostly I'm seeing different options for hinge protection and I'm not sure how necessary it is to have a super chunky bar on the side/back.

Usually I like to have something relatively minimalistic when it comes to cases; I don't use the magnet feature or opt for the dual piece kind like Otter Box has sold (in the past? Not sure what their market looks like now). If I'm going to break a phone, it's going to be in a magnificent style that no case will address, but I still like having the extra cushion of protection for when I have a klutzy moment spinning around and crashing into something.

Anyone know how hard you can hard bank the ship before the inertial dampeners can't keep up?

Asking for a friend.
