I Wish More Actors Built Careers Like This

One thing I've started appreciating over the last few years is actors who let their filmography do the talking instead of constantly chasing bigger and bigger commercial films. Looking back, that's what made so many careers memorable. Kareena doing Chameli, Urmila taking on films like Kaun? and Bhoot, Rani Mukerji balancing mainstream cinema with strong character driven roles. They weren't afraid to surprise people.
I think we're starting to see that pattern again, just a little more quietly. Wamiqa Gabbi has built an interesting body of work across films and OTT. Triptii Dimri was doing the same long before Animal changed her trajectory. Pratibha Ranta also seems to be choosing roles that feel very different from one another.
Among the newer lot, there are a few people who seem to be taking similar risks. Khushali Kumar is one of them. Dhokha, Sapne Vs Everyone and Dedh Bigha Zameen aren't similar films at all, and that's probably what caught my attention. I only thought about this because I saw Dulhaniya Le Aaeegi released today, and it made me wonder if we're slowly moving back towards rewarding actors for interesting filmographies instead of just star power.
Maybe it's just me, but I find careers like these much more interesting to follow than someone doing the same role over and over again.
