How do I find out what a degree is actually like before I commit to it

How can I properly research a specific bachelor's degree? I want to know what careers graduates go into, long-term career paths, job security, career longevity, and what is actually taught in the program.

I once heard that looking at LinkedIn profiles of people who studied the same degree is a good idea, but my account is new, I don't know anyone personally, and as a student I don't really have people to ask.

Are there any other good ways to research a degree and understand what life after graduation is actually like?

Searching seniors of animal care at uni paduva ?

Animal care bachelor (english) seniors ! Would love ur guidance

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about applying for the **Animal Care Bachelor's program** at the University of Padua, and I have a few questions.

Is anyone here currently studying in the program or has already graduated? I'd love to hear about your experience. I'm especially curious about:

*What the course is actually like day to day*

*What career opportunities graduates usually have*

*What higher study options are available afterward*

*Whether the degree is useful for getting into research or industry jobs*

I also have a genuine love for animals, so I'd really appreciate hearing the honest side of things the good and the challenging parts too.

If you are open to connect, please let me know or drop a comment below. Any advice or personal experiences would mean a lot

Thanks!

Also about entrance exam general requirements in CEnT-S plz do mention !

I want to teach at a university, but I absolutely do not want to do research. Is this a realistic career path?

I have always been a bit confused about how the university system actually works. Growing up, I just assumed that a lecturer was the person who teaches the classes, and a professor was the one locked away doing research.😅

I am about to start my bachelor's degree, and I find myself thinking a lot about my future. My absolute dream is to become a university teacher. I genuinely love teaching, and I want my entire career to be focused on guiding students. The catch is that I want to completely avoid doing research. While it is possible my mindset might change by the time I reach my master's, right now, I know in my bones that I only want to teach🥲.

The problem is that trying to figure this out online has been incredibly frustrating. The advice out there is totally contradictory. Some people say teaching-only roles simply do not exist in higher education. Others say they do, but warn that it is a trap where the pay is awful, there are zero benefits, and you live with the constant anxiety of having to renew your contract every single semester. I honestly do not care about having a fancy title or crazy benefits, but I do need to know if this is a safe, realistic way to make a living.

Even if I stay in academia my entire life, I have absolutely no desire to climb the ladder and become a professor. I would be perfectly happy just staying a lecturer side.😁

So, what is the actual job title for someone who only teaches at a university? Is this a safe, realistic path, and what is the honest truth about the pay and job security?😅

I'm planning to take my bachelor in an applied science university (in germany) so I also want to know if that would get in the way of what i want.

My dog has had a swelling on his nose and neck for more than 2½ months.

My dog has had a swelling on his nose/face for more than 2½ months.

I know I should take him to a vet, and I already have. The vet we visited is quite well-known, but he only prescribed antibiotics. The assistant veterinarian suggested that a sample should be taken from the swelling (possibly through a biopsy or extraction) so it could be tested, but the main veterinarian did not recommend that. Instead, he advised us to bring our dog to his main branch in Colombo for a full-body checkup.

The problem is that travelling there is very difficult for us. Many transport services do not allow dogs, and I'm not sure a full-body checkup is necessary just to investigate this swelling.

Initially, we took him for a dental cleaning because I had read that facial swellings can sometimes be caused by infected teeth. However, the veterinarian did not perform a full cleaning and only removed a small amount of old buildup. He again recommended a full-body checkup. We were actually the ones who requested a thyroid test. He didn't seem very interested in doing it at first, but eventually blood was taken and the results showed that my dog's thyroid levels were low. He was prescribed lifelong thyroid medication. He has been on the medication for a short time, like since it was started low like 2 pills put of 8 pills that should be given on a normal daily basis.we stopped giving it cuz he seemed fine when he didn't receive it and thought better to treat the swelling first and ofc if we give him and fall to the routine of everyday thyroxine medication he would have to be on pill forever as somehow body adjust to external dose.

Other than that, he seems fine. He eats, plays, sleeps, and behaves normally. He seems completely unbothered by the swelling. He is a little lazy, but he is around 6 years old, so that may simply be due to age.weight faround 40kg

I feel really bad for him and I'm worried because the swelling has never gone down unless theirs constant antibiotics.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what this could be, or what I should do next? We will again be taking him to the vet for the extraction hopefully goes well but ain't sure if he denies saying it ain't needed.

As a girl trying to pursue bachelors in china...

The thing is, my dream since childhood has always been to study abroad and build a life for myself there.

Right now, I’m still unsure which degree I should choose. The fields I currently have in mind are agriculture, biotechnology, animal science, and related areas.

So, would it actually be worth doing a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields in China?

Also, which universities are well recognized for them? And are Chinese degrees accepted internationally?

I’m hoping to pursue a PhD later on, and honestly, I don’t see myself settling in China permanently for now.

One reason I’m considering China is because many universities seem affordable, and scholarships appear to be quite abundant. I’m probably not aiming for a scholarship when entering since I don’t expect great results this time, but I hope I could earn one from the second year onward if I perform well academically.

I’ve also always been genuinely interested in East Asian cultures, which makes the idea even more appealing to me.

Help me with this Oreo situation!

I hope you can see the “Oreo situation” on my hand. It’s been about 3 years now. The last time I lost this tan line was during the COVID period, but I got it again once I started going under the sun more. As you can see, it’s very distinct — and in real life it looks even more noticeable

.

Even the sides of my face get tanned, while the areas protected by my helmet cushions or shadows stay lighter.

So what I want to know is: is there any product that I could use that would actually give genuine results?

I tried aloe vera gel, but there was no change. Honestly, it even felt like it was making things worse. Janet’s Vitamin C tub did work a bit, but only while I was actively applying it.

Do you have any proper product recommendations or advice for dealing with this kind of sun tan?

My skin here is like some dots. Can someone say what is this ?

Well, how do I describe it… the area below my armpit where my upper arm touches my body has these weird look texture wise nothing and here is the only place I have these.I also started getting small skin tags around there, or at least I think they’re skin tags. I attached them in the second photo. Those tiny tags appeared pretty quickly, but now they’ve stopped appearing.

But I still have these black dots white dots, and some pigmented spots. There are also these white streaks . they don’t really look like stretch marks though, which is why I’m confused.

Also pic three is I think is ingrown hair or anything but I haven't ever shaved arms or that area

The whole thing looks pretty weird, honestly, and I just want to know why this happens.

Is there any way to solve or reduce them? A friend suggested glycolic acid from The Ordinary, but even on my face it barely makes a difference unless I use it long-term.

Student life in Chinese or malasiyan unis as an science student. can U drop Ur story

As a South Asian student doing the science stream, what bachelor’s degrees would you recommend studying in China?

I’m mostly interested in fields like biotechnology, agriculture, food science, animal science, biomedical science, and environmental science. Which of these are actually good and recognized internationally?

I’d also like to hear about international student life in China and people’s experiences there. How has university life been for scholarship students? Do you think studying in China is a better option compared to countries like Georgia or Malaysia?

honest opinions and experiences are welcome.

my mom completely lost it from the nonstop stress and threw her own phone downstairs. And I struggle with stufies

I’m an A/L Biology student and my grades are honestly terrible right now. I’m not really asking for study tips — the main issue is my home environment and family situation.

I NEED a laptop or proper computer setup to catch up on online lectures, recordings, and YouTube lessons, especially for Physics. Studying on my phone is horrible. The screen is too small, I can’t focus, I end up scrolling randomly, and during Physics lessons I literally have to squint to read equations on the board.

I do have a desktop PC, but the setup is a disaster. The wall outlet sparks and makes “criss-criss” sounds, so it honestly feels unsafe to use. My dad only fixed it once before when a plug got stuck inside. I wanted to move the PC to the living room because:

- there’s a safe outlet there

- open space helps me focus better

- parental supervision might stop me from procrastinating

But the problem is my brother.

He’s heavily addicted to gaming, phones, TV, basically any screen. His own computer already got confiscated, so my PC would instantly become “shared property” if I move it outside my room. Whenever he gets access to a device, he’ll use it for HOURS and ignore everyone saying “just a little longer.”

He even takes my mom’s phone and rejects calls while gaming. He also has a compulsive need to watch something while eating — even if it’s just staring outside at birds.

My parents are completely focused on him because he’s currently failing O/Ls. Meanwhile, they assume I’ll somehow manage alone because I used to get good grades in the past. But old grades mean nothing during A/Ls.

Today things got so bad that my brother kept begging my mom for a phone nonstop because my dad wasn’t home. He kept repeating “amme” and asking her to open things for him over and over until she finally snapped and threw her own phone from the second floor. She didn’t even bother checking if it broke.

I also secretly blocked TV channels and hid WiFi passwords before because otherwise he’d spend the entire day consuming content. My parents usually rely on ME to manage stuff like this.

I wanted individual Physics tuition too because I struggle with it, but my parents never properly look into classes for me. My mom talks nonstop about my brother’s Geography and Buddhism classes instead. Sometimes I just lock myself in my room because hearing about it constantly stresses me out.

The funny thing is my dad literally runs a computer business, yet I’m here struggling to even have a usable setup.

Back when my O/L results came out, I actually wanted a laptop instead of a phone. But I said no because I KNEW it would become shared property and I’d never get peace. My room is literally locked whenever I leave because my computer is inside and my brother once stole the key and lost it.

Now I’m wondering if I’m overthinking everything because of exam stress. But honestly, the only reason I survived O/Ls in the first place was because I had to carefully think through every single situation in this house.

At this point I’m even searching for headphones using my own money just so I can focus and listen to lectures without losing my mind.

I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore.

Mom even threw her phone down second floor. My (18F) family expects me to just "get through" my final exams while my device-addicted brother tears the house apart.

This is going to be a long and complicated story because I am only going to explain the essentials. I am a biology student with terrible grades right now—and no, I am not asking for study tips. This is mainly about family-related issues, specifically involving my sibling.🫩

I need to catch up on some lessons through online videos, YouTube, and recorded lectures. However, a phone screen is just too small for this; I desperately need a computer or a laptop. When I try to watch lectures on my phone, it is incredibly hard to focus, and I just end up aimlessly scrolling through my photo gallery, even though I don't have Instagram, TikTok, or any other social media. I have to constantly squint my eyes, which becomes impossible during Physics lessons when a full board of letters and equations fills the screen.😭

I do have a desktop computer, but the setup is a complete mess, and I hate it for multiple reasons. More importantly, the wall outlet I plug it into makes a terrifying "criss-criss" sparking sound, making it entirely unsafe to use. I can’t get the outlet fixed myself because I’m not an electrician, and my dad isn't paying any attention to it. The only time he ever fixed it before was when a prong from a multi-plug got stuck inside it.🥲

To solve this, I wanted to move the computer to the living room. It has a safe outlet, and the open space means more parental supervision, which I hoped would help me get work done without getting distracted. I have wanted to make this move ever since my A/Ls (Advanced Levels) started, but because of my maniac brother, I obviously couldn't. Desperate to finally change my habits, focus, and stop procrastinating, I went ahead and moved just my desk to the living room. But given the current chaotic situation, I obviously cannot set up the actual computer there now. I am completely stuck😑

Here is the problem: my brother is a massive gaming and phone addict. He plays for hours on end, so he is strictly banned from having a device. His "COVID-era" computer was already confiscated, meaning my desktop is the only one left in the house. If I set up my computer in the living room, you know exactly what will happen. He will annoyingly take it over. Whenever I ask for it back, it will always be the same excuses: "Poddak inna" (wait a moment) or "Thawa chuttai" (just a little longer).what happens when he takes moms phone and play for hours rejecting calls and stuff.

He isn't allowed to watch TV either. We have a Peo TV connection, so he used to just flip through channels and watch it all day long. To stop this, I secretly blocked the channels that run 24/7 so he wouldn't sit there all day. He has absolutely no idea I did it.( My parents always relies on me when things like these happen I change TV pins etc. I had to keep a WiFi password a secret too )🫩

He also has a compulsive habit of needing to watch something whenever he eats—even if it's just a bird outside. Earlier today, knowing our dad wasn't home, he repeatedly begged for a phone. He kept pestering our mom hundreds of times, saying, "Open this, I need this, open this.and also amme like hundred times, It took such a massive toll on my mom’s mental health that she finally snapped, snatched her own phone from him, and threw it down from the second floor. I don’t even know if the phone is still there or if it's completely broken; she didn’t even go downstairs to pick it up.😭

Right now, my mom is solely obsessed with my brother’s grades because he is currently failing. As for me, I used to get good grades in the past, but we all know old results don't matter when it comes to A/Ls. My parents just assume I will somehow get through on my own. Honestly, sometimes it feels like they don't fucking care at all.

I wish I could get some individual tuition classes. I have a hard time in physics. All of my friends are doing individual classes right now, but they aren't interested in group classes and mostly keep their tutoring a secret. My parents, however, have no interest in arranging this for me. My mom will get worked up for a single minute searching for a class for me, but then she completely forgets about it. Whenever I go out to the living room, all she talks about are my brother's Geography and Buddhism classes, (which I don't knew existed until very end of my Al life ) which is a massive headache for me. Because of this, I just shut my door and stay inside my room

. I mean, I get that she wants him to pass his O/Ls (Ordinary Levels), and I want that too—I genuinely don't want my brother to fail his O/Ls—but it is exhausting🫩

Looking back, when my O/L results came out, I wanted to get a laptop instead of a phone. However, my parents bought me this phone ( dad was abroad he felt kinda guilty and we need a way to communicate )way before the results were even released, as i said no to a laptop back then, because I knew that if we bought one, it would immediately become "shared property." I knew I couldn't afford to constantly listen to his gaming or his "brainrot" shorts while trying to study he'd ask for education vids and then boom

I really don't know what to do anymore.

Today, I was searching for headphones to buy using my own money, because my parents definitely won't buy them for me.(Not that they don't have money just not interested ) t If they do give me headphones, they will probably just bring a pair from our own family shop—which, is thrown away bcz of misbehaving speaking from experience, will be broken on one side as I just need something so I can focus and finally listen to my classes.

How am I supposed to watch my video recordings under these chaotic conditions? I have suffered enough. I initially thought I only had to endure this for two months, but now it has gotten a lot worse. I get so incredibly annoyed and tired just witnessing this daily drama.

Now, you might read this and think, "Isn't this girl overthinking or planning out her life and every single event too much?" Yes, I am. But the entire reason I successfully got through my O/Ls while dealing with a brother like this—and while my dad was working abroad—is way I always thought things through carefully before doing anything.🥲

For the record, my brother is staying home from school these days because going to school has become more dangerous with drugs and other bad influences. Most of his peers don't attend school right now either. My brother himself said it is too hard to be in school these days with everything going on, so our parents are letting him stay in the house.so more dramas

Idk why I'm blurting out even but hoping for some kinda advice should I buy a laptop it's useless there's only two months. But the way this goes I might have to retake exams I really don't know ( I can't believe I have to worry about these when my father runs a computer business , he doesn't sell laps tho)

Am I overthink bcz of exam stress I also think that too.🥲

btw I alway lock my room when I go to classes my parents ask so since my computer is there . And the fact is they just trust me ssooo much( or not care at all ) that I'd do everything on my own like always . the only key room has is with me soo they don't even have a key, last time my brother stole it, it got lost.

Thank U if U made this far. You are a gem .🥹🥰

Hair picking problem.....😭

Okay, so I don’t really know how to explain this, but I’ll do my best. 🥲

I’ll start from the beginning so you can understand the roots of it, I guess.

When I was a kid, I had straight hair. But around Grade 8, when all the hormonal changes started — menstruation, puberty, all the girl things — my hair started becoming wavy. Eventually, now my hair is kind of a mess. I honestly don’t know whether to call it curly, straight, or wavy because it’s all three at once. 🫩

As you can probably tell from the title, I also have a hair-picking problem.

When I get anxious or bored — especially while studying — I unconsciously start doing this thing where I take a strand of hair from the middle of my scalp (usually the hairs that “tempt” me are there 😭), run it between my fingertips, and bring it up to eye level.

If I feel a thick, uneven, curly, or rough single hair, I get the urge to look at it closely and pluck it out. 😭

I think it’s because I want to “fix” the uneven texture or get rid of the strange-feeling hair, but honestly, I don’t fully know why.

I usually don’t do this with straight hairs or smoother hairs that don’t stand out when I touch them. Sometimes I also pick at very curly or fragile hairs near my hairline if they catch my attention. 😭

Things that help a little:

Keeping my hair tied up in a ponytail (though it’s not guaranteed to stop me — today I literally started doing it in the middle of an exam 🥲)

Braiding my hair at school helps a lot because it’s part of the uniform anyway. But outside school I don’t always like wearing braids because it feels weird and people don't do it much and doesn’t really match my style.

Also, I used to have another problem where I would constantly search for split ends and cut or pull them off, even during classes 😭

That got better after I cut my hair shorter (above chest length) and started getting regular trims. My hair is healthier now, so thankfully that habit mostly stopped. 🥳

So…

Why does this happen?

Does anyone else do this too?

What can I do to stop or reduce it?

Thank you for reading all this. 🙏🏻

I've been eyeing the Revlon one step hair volmerizer brush for months now . It's around 25k when shown in Amazon and ubuy like websites (10k -18k around I think if bought in a store abroad ) and costs another 25k around or more for shipping fees. Which is not as great as U see . I checked with their insta page and they said they don't carry hair tools.

So plz if anyone bought so or know where U can buy or has a possibility let me know Or just recommend smthing else alternative for this. Thank you....
