Does anyone know if it’s possible to refund an unused booking accidentally made for yesterday?

I accidentally booked tickets to see the Odyssey for yesterday (Sunday 16th August), intending them to be for tomorrow (Tuesday 18th August).

Given that the tickets are unused, does anyone know if it’s possible to refund/transfer them to another date? I’m going round in circles with the AI chat trying to get through to a human, and I’m banging my head against a wall.

Advice for cooking my sister’s birthday meal

Hi everyone, I hope it’s okay to post this here. It has just been my 16 year old (very strongly presumably anorexic, awaiting diagnosis) sister’s birthday and I’m preparing a meal tomorrow both for her birthday and another family celebration. I’d really appreciate some advice for people more familiar with anorexia than I am.

The meal will be very Mediterranean, a lot of salad, pasta, bread etc. One of the dishes I was hoping to make is a salad, which is normally seasoned with olive oil, mint, lemon and salt.

One of the things my sister is particularly struggling with at the moment is oils/fats, which she has completely eradicated from her diet.

My sister has prepared her own “meals” (if you can even call them that) for a while now, and it being her birthday, we’re very keen to try and encourage her to eat with us. She’d probably be fine with salad. However, I am extremely torn about the use of olive oil.

My father is telling me to not use olive oil in anything so she’ll eat more. However, my understanding of anorexia (and indeed other MH issues, as someone who has OCD) is that it should not be indulged or normalised and I don’t want to make the problem worse. I was thinking about setting some food aside for her without oils, salt etc., and including oils in the main, shared parts of the meal, however I’m worried about “othering” her too.

Please can I have some advice on this?

Flatmate taking up crazy amounts of kitchen space in a 5 person flat

I’m in a fairly typical UK student flat. There are 5 en suite bedrooms and a shared kitchen/“living” space.

I moved in at the start of Summer, and had the flat to myself for a bit. Knowing other people would eventually move in, I only took up a ‘column’ of cupboards (which seems like a fair number), one shelf in the fridge and a freezer drawer (there are five of each).

Three other people moved in with no issues; they took a fair number of drawers and took up a fair amount of space in the fridge.

I had an email from the accommodation management telling people to make sure there was space in the fridge for the 5th tenant, which I thought was weird because there was basically a whole shelf, but anyway.

I bumped into her and she seemed nice enough, she asked if she could keep a couple of extra bits on my shelf and I stupidly said yes, as I had a bit of room. Anyway, the photos are the consequence of that mistake.

I highlighted her stuff in red and mine in blue, for comparison.

Does Morrisons in the Merrion Centre have bike parking?

As the title says really. I'm tired of walking all the way there and back from near Shay Park...

Does anyone think Liverpool is starting to feel very tired?

I generally love Liverpool but it's starting to feel really tired, and it feels really strongly like the city council/LCR are blindly hoping the momentum from 2008 will carry on forever. They seem to release endless regeneration plans which never go anywhere.

So much of the city centre looks worn and dirty, there are so many vacant shops or shops which are being turned into vape shops, phone shops, Turkish barbers and convenience shops. Williamson Square looks abandoned, and the main routes up to the uni (Brownlow Hill and Mount Pleasant) are grim. You can barely read any of the signposts put up after 2008.

Loads of independent pubs/venues have closed (Gutmann keeping many of them open is better than nothing, but it's becoming quite tired). Unique and/or independent shops are closing too: in the past few years, the art shop on Church Alley has closed and been replaced by a clothes shop, Rennies has been replaced by Franco Manca, Leaf has been replaced by a chain restaurant, Maggie May's has been replaced by a Gutmann pub.

The council is constantly talking about being a "capital of culture" and "capital of music" but most music artists seem to dodge Liverpool and go straight to Manchester.

It seems everywhere apart from the waterfront is neglected and getting worse. Tourists still generally seem to enjoy it, but I worry even that won't last forever. It's really sad to see a city I love decline as it has, and so many people's heads seem to be in the sand over it.

Credit balance on Student Loans Company overpayment account despite making no payments

I have a letter from the Student Loans Company telling me I have a credit balance on my overpayment account, although I have only just graduated and I'm not above the threshold for making repayments. Why could this be?

My skin is extremely red and I don’t have a clue what to do about it

I’m 21 and my skin has been like this for about a year. I’ve tried so many different kinds of skincare products, and they seem to make my skin worse rather than better and often irritates it more. I’ve also tried not doing any form of skincare, to see if that would help and it does not.

I have been to my doctor, who initially concluded it was a soap allergy and prescribed me a soap for sensitive skin which didn’t help, he then concluded it was rosacea and prescribed me cream for it which didn’t help. It’s not sunburn either as it’s like this throughout the year.

I was not hot and had not done strenuous activity before taking these photos.

I’m at a loss, my skin is horrific and it’s really embarrassing but I don’t know what to do about it.

Does anyone know where to find queer/queer-friendly houseshares in Cambridge?

I have a master's offer in October which I was set to accept, though Queen's College have told me today that I'm unlikely to be offered a room there.

I'm looking for private houseshares, however I'm queer (specifically trans), and would like to find one that is specifically queer (or at least queer friendly). I'd rather decline the offer if I thought I'd have to hide in the closet for a year.

Any tips and advice are very much appreciated :)

Questions about e bike software updates

I bought a BTwin folding e-bike from Decathlon last year, and so far it's been really great for what I needed it for. However, I was riding home the other day and the battery threw an error code and cut out without warning, which was a... fun ride home when I had a weekly shop with me and my trip home was uphill.

I took it back to Decathlon yesterday, and they told me it needed a software update. Fortunately it was a quick (and free) fix, but it left me with a few questions.

  1. I know I need to take it back to Decathlon once a year for a software update, which is a bit of a pain, but should I expect it to just fail without warning? Is there any way of knowing when these updates will be required and when my battery will stop working?
  2. Is there a way to update it myself?
  3. Do they eventually just stop updating e-bike software? I know it's theoretically still rideable without the battery, but in practise it's far too heavy without it to be useful for my purposes.

I'd ask Decathlon themselves but they don't seem to have a customer service number. Many thanks in advance for your advice.

I changed my name via deed poll last year, though my passport is still in my old name and I don't drive. Will I be okay for a right to work check by providing my passport alongside my deed poll? I am in England.

My circumstances are different from the person who wrote a similar post <1 year ago.

The Home Office's deed poll guidance says this:

"have you checked the reasons for any different names across documents (e.g. marriage certificate, divorce decree, deed poll)? (Supporting documents should also be photocopied and a copy retained.)"

which makes me think I'll be fine, but I'm a little paranoid anyway.

Is it okay to buy dissertation supervisors alcohol as a thank you present?

I had a really productive time working on my dissertation and received a grade of 89%. This wouldn't have been possible without all the time and effort put into my project by my two dissertation supervisors, and I'm very grateful to them both.

I wanted to buy them both a small gift as a gesture of my gratitude. I happen to know they both like IPAs, would it be permissible to buy them a can each? I don't know what the general etiquette is. Certainly with my university's culture, people wouldn't think twice if I went to the pub with them, so I can't imagine why there would be an issue, but I thought it would be best to ask first.

Does anyone have any tips for repairing or changing this MP3 player screen?

I'd rather not buy a new one to save waste, and the manufacturer wasn't exactly forthcoming with support. Would be grateful for any advice anyone can offer :)

Is it safe to remove the weird cover from this book?

Sorry if this isn’t the right sub, but I couldn’t find a more appropriate community. I obtained this book from a second hand book sale. It has this horrible sticky cover on the front of it which makes it unpleasant to hold. Is it possible to peel it off or should I cover it with something else?
