Şira update – she has vision in both eyes ❤️

Hi everyone, I wanted to share another update about Şira.

She is still staying at the veterinary clinic and her treatment is continuing. The latest news from the vet is actually encouraging: she has reflexes in both eyes now. Her vision is still weak, but it isn't completely gone, and in one of the videos the vet sent me she was even able to follow a ball with her eyes.

We have made a lot of progress with the eye drops, so for now the treatment will continue the same way. The vet also said the corneal damage doesn't appear to be very deep at the moment, although they will continue checking it as treatment progresses.

She is much more comfortable now and has also stopped trying to scratch her eyes, so her cone has been removed for the time being.

She still needs to remain at the clinic, and we don't know yet exactly how long the whole process will take. Her veterinary expenses are also continuing to increase. Thanks to the people who donated after my previous post, I was able to pay part of what we owed already, and I genuinely can't thank you enough for that.

We are also trying to find Şira a permanent loving home for when she is finally ready to leave the clinic. She is in Aksaray, Turkey.

For anyone who would still like to help with her continuing veterinary expenses, our fundraiser is here:

Thank you again to everyone who has followed her story, donated, shared, or simply sent kind words. Seeing her come this far after how bad her eyes were when I found her means so much to me. ❤️

Found this little girl with severely damaged eyes — one month later, she’s still fighting

I found this little girl, Şira, in Türkiye at the beginning of July. She was in really bad condition, especially her eyes, so I took her to a vet as soon as I could.

She has been staying at the veterinary clinic for about a month now. At first, there was a serious possibility that she could lose her sight in both eyes. Thankfully, she has shown some improvement during treatment. Her right eye started reacting to light, and the vet has also been treating and cleaning her left eye.

We still don't know exactly how much vision she will recover or how much longer she will need to stay at the clinic, but she has already come a long way compared to when I first found her.

I just wanted to share Şira's story here and hopefully keep updating her progress. She has been through a lot for such a tiny cat, but she is still fighting. ❤️

If anyone has cared for a kitten with severe eye infections or corneal damage before, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

3-Week Update: She’s Playing Again and Her Eyes Continue to Improve ❤️

Hello everyone! I wanted to share another update about the little kitten I found with severe infections in both eyes.

Thankfully, she continues to make progress. One of her eyes has opened much more, and the clinic previously observed a response to light. The other eye is still more seriously affected, so we still cannot know for certain how much vision she will have.

The biggest improvement is her overall condition. She is eating well, walking around, playing and becoming more mischievous every day. Seeing her behave like a normal kitten again after the condition we found her in has been incredibly emotional.

She is still receiving multiple eye drops every day and remains at the veterinary clinic. The veterinarian plans to perform a fluorescein corneal stain test soon. This should help them evaluate the surface of her eyes and determine whether there are any remaining ulcers or injuries that require further treatment.

At the moment, surgery is not planned. The treatment will continue, and we should have a clearer picture after the upcoming test and examination. We are hopeful, but we also understand that there may be permanent damage, particularly in the more severely affected eye.

I have now received her updated veterinary invoice and treatment records as well. I will continue documenting her recovery and sharing the important updates as transparently as possible.

Her journey is not finished yet, and once her treatment is completed, we will also need to find her a safe and responsible indoor home. She may be partially blind or have special needs, but she has already shown us that this does not stop her from playing, exploring and enjoying life.

Thank you so much to everyone who has followed her journey, left kind comments and kept her in their thoughts. Your support and encouragement genuinely mean a lot to us. ❤️🐾

Anyone who has questions about her treatment, veterinary records or future adoption is welcome to message me.

Same painless skin lesion on both big toes for a long time — what could it be?

25M. I have had this mark/raised area in exactly the same location on both big toes for a very long time. It is usually completely painless, but occasionally there is mild aching or stinging. It does not itch, bleed, or discharge. I spend most of my time at home and rarely wear shoes, so I am not sure whether friction is the cause. Does this look like a callus, eczema, a pressure-related lesion, or something else?

How can i help him?

I just saw this guy from street I can't afford a vet. Is there any medicine you guys can recommend to help me save him?

Small update: I’m in Turkey and I’m trying to find a safe solution for this cat. The municipality gave me conflicting information, and the worker who came eventually left the cat outside without taking him for treatment. I’m hesitant to send him to the local shelter because I’ve seen the conditions there before and they were heartbreaking. I’m already covering treatment for another blind cat, I have three cats at home, and I feed two more outside my door.

2-Week Update: She Finally Has a Light Reflex in One Eye ❤️

Hello everyone! It's been about two weeks since I found this tiny kitten alone on the street, and I wanted to share a new update.

First of all, thank you so much to everyone who donated, shared the fundraiser, or simply sent kind words. Your support has truly made a difference. ❤️

The good news is that there has been real progress. The membrane covering one eye has been cleaned, and the infection is much better than when we first found her.

Most importantly, the right eye now responds to light, which gives the veterinarians hope that some vision may still be saved.

She is still wearing her protective cone and continues to receive treatment every day. She's eating well, resting a lot, and slowly getting stronger. While she's not out of danger yet, she's fighting incredibly hard.

Unfortunately, her recovery is taking longer than we expected, and that also means the veterinary bills continue to grow. I've been covering as much as I can, but I still need help to keep her treatment going.

If you're able to support her journey, even the smallest donation or simply sharing this fundraiser would mean so much to both of us.

Thank you again for believing in this little fighter. Hopefully, the next update will bring even more good news. ❤️🐾

I think I overengineered my Erasmus internship search...

A few weeks ago I reached the point where I genuinely didn't want to send another Erasmus application.

My girlfriend and I are both looking for Erasmus+ internships, mostly in tourism. At first I was doing everything manually. Open Google Maps, search for hotels, open every website, try to find an email address, copy it into a spreadsheet, write the same email over and over again...

After doing that for days I realized I was spending way more time looking for places than actually applying.

I'm a bit of a programming nerd, so instead of continuing like a normal person I decided to automate the whole thing.

It honestly started as a fun side project. Every time I got annoyed by something, I'd add another feature.

"Finding emails takes forever?" → automated it.

"Keeping track of duplicates is annoying." → automated that too.

"Google starts complaining if I send too much." → added delays and account rotation.

Before I knew it, I had spent more time writing Python than actually searching for internships.

Now it basically does most of the boring work for me.

It searches for tourism businesses in specific cities, builds a contact list from publicly available information, removes duplicates, spaces out emails automatically, checks for bounced addresses and keeps everything organized.

The funny part is that building it probably took longer than applying manually... but now I can reuse it whenever I need to search somewhere else.

One thing that surprised me was how little many companies know about Erasmus+.

At first I just introduced myself and asked about internship opportunities.

Almost nobody replied.

Later I changed the first paragraph to explain that the internship is funded through Erasmus+, that there isn't much administrative work for them and that they aren't expected to sponsor visas or cover a salary.

The response rate became noticeably better after that.

Another thing I learned is that Gmail really doesn't like it if you behave like a robot.

You can't just send hundreds of emails in an hour and expect everything to be fine. Slowing everything down and making the sending pattern look more natural made a huge difference.

I know this isn't the "normal" way of looking for an internship and I'm definitely not saying everyone should go build automation tools instead of sending applications.

I just found it interesting that a project I originally built because I was lazy ended up being genuinely useful.

I'm still tweaking it whenever I have free time.

If anyone here is struggling to find an Erasmus placement, especially outside the usual university partnerships, I'd be happy to share what I've learned or answer questions. And if someone wants me to test the script on another field just out of curiosity, feel free to send me a DM.

I'd also love to hear how everyone else found their placement because honestly this whole process feels way harder than I expected.

Update: The tiny kitten rescued in Türkiye is still fighting for her sight ❤️

Hello everyone, I wanted to share an update about the tiny kitten I rescued on July 4th in Aksaray, Türkiye.

https://www.reddit.com/r/blindcats/comments/1unjl6a/rescued_a_kitten_who_will_most_likely_lose_both/

When I found her, she was alone outside with both eyes looking severely infected. She could not open her eyes properly, but thankfully she was still eating and had the strength to fight. We estimated that she was around 1.5–2 months old. We also named her Şira, which means 'the brightest star in the sky'

I already have three cats, but I couldn't leave such a vulnerable kitten alone, so I brought her home to keep her safe. The following day, my girlfriend and I took her to a local veterinary clinic.

After the initial examination, we were told that one of her eyes had suffered severe damage because of the infection and that the chances of saving it were very low. The other eye was also seriously affected, but there was still a possibility of saving some vision with a long, intensive treatment process. We were told that the treatment could take several weeks and the estimated cost would be around 10,000–20,000 TL 187– 374€

However, during her stay at this first clinic, things took a very frustrating turn. Not only did her eye become noticeably more swollen, but we also faced major transparency and communication issues with the clinic staff. When we received the invoice, we noticed they charged us for 5 days of hospitalization even though she had only stayed for 3 days. When we politely asked about this discrepancy for the sake of financial transparency (since we are trying to manage these costs), the veterinarian openly admitted to manipulating the invoice items to "balance the total amount".

To make matters worse, instead of maintaining professional boundaries, the vet adopted an incredibly defensive, dismissive, and condescending tone asking us personal questions like "What do you even do for a living?" and claiming we shouldn't be questioning "a mere 300-500 TL" 10€ for a stray animal. Realizing we couldn’t trust them with either financial transparency or, more importantly, the healthy medical progress of this kitten while her eye condition was clearly worsening, we decided to pull her out of that clinic immediately.

We initially contacted a university veterinary hospital, but their earliest availability for an operation was Thursday or Friday. Because we were deeply worried about waiting several more days with her eye looking the way it did, we kept searching for a better, immediate alternative.

Yesterday, we officially transferred her to Petka Veterinary Clinic here in Aksaray.

The new team examined her right away, started her on a proper, closely monitored treatment plan, and placed an e-collar to prevent her from accidentally damaging her eyes further. Today, we received a small but hopeful update from them: "The swelling in the more affected eye has gone down a little, and the other eye is opening up more."

We know there is still a long, difficult road ahead. We don't know how much vision she will be able to keep, and surgery may still be needed depending on how she responds to this new treatment.

The first clinic's manipulated billing cost us around 2,800 TL (approx. €80), and we have fully documented the entire process and WhatsApp exchanges for transparency. The new clinic's costs are not finalized yet because her treatment is ongoing. We do not know how long it will be take but we will fight together.

The medical part is only the first hurdle. After she receives the care she needs, she will desperately need a safe, permanent, and loving home. I am a university student and already care for three cats, so unfortunately, I cannot adopt her permanently.

I am hoping to connect with rescue networks, animal lovers in Türkiye, or anyone who has experience with blind or special-needs cats and might help us find the right future for this little fighter. She didn't choose this rough start, but she absolutely deserves a chance at a good life.

I have added the photos, arranged from the current state to the previous state.

Thank you so much to everyone who has followed her story and supported us through this mess. ❤️

  4. Ben mi abartıyorum bu üslup normal mi?

Yardımlarınız için şimdiden teşekkürler.
