I feel like I'm (F 14)finding something about myself I hoped wouldn't happen

I don't know what do with myself

This has been on my mind for a few weeks now and I feel like it's actually starting to consume me. I've never really gone out of my way to make boys like me or anything, probably just as much as any teenager does, but I've also always thought about women.

I like boys. I have a crush on a boy right now. But at the same time it doesn't feel like it completely fulfills me?? I find women way more attractive than men and I admire women so much more. They're just so much more powerful and attractive to me and I don't really know what that means.

The thing that keeps making me cry is thinking about my future. Like, what if I end up marrying a man that I genuinely love and I'm happy with him, but there's always this little thought in the back of my head going, what if it was a woman? What if I spend my whole life wondering what I could've had?

The thing I've always wanted when it comes to relationships is a man. Life just seems much simpler that way. But I’m scared that if I don't actually feel that way, my life might be simple, but miserable.

My parents would accept me if I wasn't straight, so that's not really the problem. I think I'm more scared that I don't accept myself. I don't even know what to do.

Was I wrong for lying about my age, or was the 21 (M) wrong for continuing after finding out I was 12?

Okay so I’ve been thinking about this situation for a while and I genuinely wanna know what other people think because I still don’t really know how to feel about it.

When I was 12, I was bored one summer and went on this random website where you could talk to strangers. I ended up meeting this guy from Italy. I’ll call him A.

I lied about my age and told him I was 19. I was obviously actually 12 💀

We started talking and eventually moved to TikTok and Snapchat. We talked A LOT. Like 5-6 hours a day sometimes. He was basically the only person I talked to at the time.

At first it was just jokes and random conversations, but eventually he started liking me. And I definitely encouraged it. I was sending him videos of myself and thirst traps (NOT nudes or anything like that, just stupid videos where you could see half my face and I thought I looked hot 😭). He would tell me I was attractive and stuff. And the thing is, he genuinely thought I was 19.

We also got pretty emotionally close. He told me a lot about his life and I told him a lot about mine. I was going through a pretty stressful time because I was about to start at a new school, so having someone to talk to every day honestly meant a lot to me.

Then after a few months I finally told him the truth. I was like, yeah... I'm actually 12 and in 6th grade.

He was obviously shocked and pissed because he'd been talking to me thinking I was 19 and had developed feelings for me.

And I completely understand why he was angry. I lied to him for months. I'm not gonna pretend I didn't do anything wrong because I obviously did.

BUT...He was 21. And after finding out I was actually 12, he still wanted to keep talking to me. He said he wanted to just be friends and we continued talking for a while.

That's when I started thinking, bro why are you still talking to me?? 😭

Like yes, I lied about my age. Yes, I manipulated the situation. But you're 21 and now you KNOW I'm 12. Why are you still here??

Eventually I told him I didn't think we should talk anymore. He got really mad and basically said that I was the one who hurt him and that I was the one who had manipulated him. And again, I understand why he felt that way because I literally lied about my age. But I just couldn't get past the fact that he was a grown ass man talking to a 12-year-old who he now knew was 12.

We eventually stopped talking and blocked each other. One of the last things he said to me was that if he ever had kids, he would name one after me. Which is honestly such a weird thing to say in hindsight 😭

Sometimes I still miss talking to him because we actually had fun conversations and I got really attached to him. And I sometimes get curious about what he's doing now, but I'm glad I never went back and unblocked him.

What is yalls opinion on this situation anf conclusion?

What do I do before I ruin my family?

I don't know what to do anymore and I feel like if this keeps going it's gonna ruin my family.

Context:

I'm 14F and an only child. My parents are still together and not divorced.

Apparently my dad has always had a problem with food according to my mum. She says ever since they met 20 years ago he's always eaten too much and too fast. She managed to make him stop smoking and get rid of other unhealthy habits, but she says eating is the one thing she could never change.

Now my dad actually goes to the gym every day and has lost weight and is properly taking care of himself, but according to my mum he still eats too much.

The problem is I feel like she puts all of that onto me now. She always says I only eat because I'm bored, or because I'm watching TV. This argument has been going on for 2 years.

What happened today (literally like 30 mins ago):

Today I had only eaten 2 souvlaki skewers the whole day. Around 9:30pm I got hungry and wanted some tortellini.

I asked my dad and he said no because it was too late. Then I asked my mum and she immediately said I wasn't actually hungry, I was just bored, and that I'd already eaten. That pissed me off because she ALWAYS says that, so I got annoyed.

Then she started saying that I'm always unhappy and that I make people not wanna go on holiday with me. (We're on holiday right now.) Then she said "it's a curse I got."

I honestly don't even know what she meant by that but it made me feel like she was talking about me. I just went quiet and walked to my room.

I feel like she's just unhappy with me. Like I do everything else right. I get good grades, I don't get into trouble, people always tell me I'm mature for my age, I try to help around the house, but somehow food is enough to make her think I'm this horrible daughter.

I can't stop thinking that maybe I'm the daughter that ruined my mum's life. I know that sounds dramatic but that's genuinely what goes through my head after she says stuff like this. My mom is an amazing person and I understand how she feels but her personality and mine don't align at all most of the time. What do I do before I ruin my life with my only family?

edit: this isn't just about food, because I know I binge eat sometimes. It's the fact that my mom is unhappy and pops like a bubble that I curse her. She loves me so much but this hurts me more.

Am I (F 14) jealous of my friend ( F 14) for getting more boys than me or is she boy obsessed?

I (14F) am starting in a new class at the same school after having a really bad experience in my old one. I was bullied by my previous friend group, so I'm already nervous about starting over.

A A girl (14F) from my new class has been really kind to me. We've known each other for a few months, and she invited me into her friend group before I officially start the class (which is also why I decided I wanted to choose this class). I officially start the class in one month.

Lately, tho, I've started noticing that she seems very boy-obsessed.

Earlier this year, everyone knew she liked one guy (14M), but he didn't like her back. Allegedly, she even made alt accounts to follow him and stalked his sister. She also knew I had a small connection with him because we followed each other on Letterboxd and talked about movies a few times. Also another girl told her that I was dating this guy (which I absolutely wasnt).

Recently she told me she was trying to get over him by talking to another guy (14M). He's attractive, but honestly not my type at all and we don't really have any common interests.

Yesterday she asked me to text him weird questions about her and basically hint that she liked him. By the end of the day they were texting, and now they're apparently "dating" (or at least talking).

The thing that's bothering me is that we barely talked all summer unless she wanted help with this guy. Now I'm wondering if I'm actually upset because I secretly liked him, or if I'm just uncomfortable because it feels like she only reaches out when she wants something related to boys.

I'm also worried because the whole reason I'm changing classes is to get away from a toxic friend group, and I really don't want to end up in another unhealthy friendship.

Am I overthinking this, or are these reasonable concerns?

AITA for saying to my friend something she can't control?

I (14F) am on vacation in Rhodes, Greece. One of my best friends (16F) from my home country and her mom came to stay at our holiday house for a week. I live in another country now, so I rarely get to see her. We're sharing a room.

Before anyone says I'm fat-shaming her, I'm not. I don't care how much someone eats. The problem is that it feels like that's literally all she does. She isn't overweight.

She eats with her mouth open **every single time.** You can hear everything, and it genuinely makes me not want to eat around her. She also eats in bed, so there are crumbs everywhere. She constantly eats food without asking too, but God forbid anyone touches hers (never asks to share.)

At night she wants the lights on and the AC off... in Rhodes. I literally can't sleep because it's so hot, but if I turn the AC on, she says she's freezing. Now she also says that I move while I sleep. Ive told her multiple times to wake me up if that happens or she can go sleep w her mom that has a bigger bed. But nope she wont accept the help.

She also has a habit of making me look like the bad guy. One time I turned the AC on because the room was boiling. Instead of just telling me she was cold, she waited until our parents came back and said, "\*\*\*\* let me freeze."

Another day she told me not to splash her at the beach because the water was freezing. I didn't. Then she splashed me multiple times, including later in a restaurant bathroom. When I finally splashed her back **once**, she immediately told our parents that *I* splashed *her*, leaving out everything she'd done first.

To be fair, I wasn't perfect either. Yesterday we went to a karaoke bar with a bunch of adults who were drinking. I'm pretty shy, didn't know the songs she wanted to sing, and wasn't really comfortable singing in front of a bunch of drunk adults. Looking back, I was probably a mean and annoying.

Today we were watching a movie, and she started eating loudly again. After hearing it for what felt like the hundredth time this week, I finally said, Can you stop eating with your mouth open?.

She immediately said she **wasn't** eating with her mouth open (she definitely was) and called me pissy and mean because she "never says anything" to me.

She's also two years older than me, which honestly makes it even more frustrating.

Now I'm wondering if I'm just getting irritated because we've been together 24/7 for a week or that I hate her personality now that I'm more with her?

AITA?

Switching classes after a horrible year

So basically I live in Sweden, and here you're usually put in the same class for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade.

I started at this school in 6th grade, so I was already the new kid while almost everyone else had known each other since 3rd grade. When I got my class for 7th grade, I joined a friend group, talked to people, and tried to put myself out there, but it just never felt right. My class had some *nasty* people. I also had a little situationship with the class freak. He touched me in really inappropriate ways, was racist, and was against immigrants (I'm an immigrant). Anyway...

Over time I started feeling genuinely depressed. I constantly felt like I was being picked on, left out, or like I just didn't belong. (I had a pixie cut, so people called me a f**got. I also got significantly higher grades than most of them without studying, but I never rubbed it in their faces or acted like an asshole.) I'd come home crying all the time and my mum got really worried. I kept thinking maybe I was just too sensitive, and after a while I just became numb to all the BS people kept saying to me.

But eventually I realized I couldn't keep telling myself that for another two years.

So I talked to my mentor, and later I went and spoke with the person who organizes the classes (basically a higher-up). A few days later I found out I'd been approved to switch because I had actual reasons, not just because I "wanted a different class."

The class I'm moving to has a few people I already know from my school's music academy, plus a couple of people I was friends with in 6th grade, so I'm hoping it'll be a much better fit. I've already hung out with some of the girls and boys because I made a "hangout group." I even organized a cinema trip with another friend!

I'm obv super happy, but also hella nervous because I have this feeling I'm somehow gonna mess it up in the first few weeks and that no one will like me. This is a pretty serious thing for me because I really want to make the most of my teenage years, not in a way to peak in high-school but I fear if I feel this left out again that my mental health will be realllyy bad.

How do I make a good first impression, make friends naturally, and avoid ending up being seen as the weirdo or introverted (I'm pretty extroverted)? I would love any kind of advice for starting a new class.

Is my progress worthy?

I posted yesterday asking if my paintings were worth selling, and I got very nice and helpful feedback!

I'm still curious tho and have some questions. I only started painting this summer using really cheap supplies (€1–5 paints and brushes) so if I sell these, would it need to be better quality canvas, paint etc..? Also this painting took me 2ish hours by using a reference pic as I'm not that good to make my own original one yet.

Where I live there aren't really any art markets. There's only a Christmas market, but renting a stand is pretty expensive. If I were to sell my work, would it make more sense to sell online (Etsy, Vinted, or through private commissions)?

I'd love to start earning some simple money to save up for fun experiences while I'm still a teenager! Thanks and advice is deeply appreciated.

Is my progress worth selling?

I've recently gotten into painting this summer using super cheap supplies (like €1–5 art supplies) to pass the time. Now I'm wondering if it's something I could eventually sell to make a bit of money as a 14-year-old.

This painting took me about 2-hours ish. I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback. Do you think I could potentially sell these, and for how much and if it's worth it? I would still do it as a hobby and not think of it as a job :) Thankss

Can I sell my paintings as a teen?

I'm 14 and I've recently started painting as a hobby now that it's summer break. I wonder if once I get good at this, I could potentially sell them? I'm thinking of ways to get some money now as a teen to kind of be able to buy my own stuff without begging my parents for money lol. What do you all think?

u/boboboelle — 1 month ago

What am I?

I've always wondered what I am politically because whenever I take those online political quizzes, I get completely different results or a mix of different parties.

- I support free healthcare and education funded through taxes, higher taxes for higher earners, better pay for teachers/professors, stronger welfare systems, and a higher minimum wage.

- I support abortion rights and believe abortion is healthcare. I fully support LGBTQ+ rights. However, I don't think people should medically transition before 18 because I see it as a major life-changing decision. I don't support drugs like marijuana being legal in the open, only in special places with limited stock. I think sex work should be legal but regulated with safety and health protections.

* I think immigration should have stricter controls but still be accessible, especially for refugees. I support accepting refugees, but I also think people who are able to work should contribute to society. I believe punishment vs rehabilitation depends on the crime and the person's age. I don't support the death penalty because I think some criminals should face the consequences of their actions rather than death being an escape.

* I support freedom of speech, but I don't think it should include directly harming others. For example, I support someone's right to burn a Quran, but I don't support someone ripping off a person's hijab because that directly targets and harms another person.

* I support some government surveillance when it's necessary for safety. I think vaccines should be required for healthcare workers, but schools should generally be up to parents/legal guardians.

* I think climate change should be a major priority and support moving away from gas cars. Military spending should depend on actual threats, not just wanting a bigger military. Countries should help themselves during crises that directly affect them, but should also help other countries when they can.

So what political ideology do I sound closest to?

Not everyone should be allowed to have children

I'm gonna touch on a **very** sensitive topic, so disclaimer: I don't actually support this in the real world. This is purely a hypothetical thought because I know it'd never be ethical or work without being abused in our world.

There are people who have children when they aren't able to give them a safe or stable life. That can be due to severe untreated addiction, abuse, extreme neglect, or other circumstances that put the child at risk. Obviously, this doesn't mean poor people or disabled people can't be amazing parents many absolutely are and have turned their life around due to knwoing they will be a parent.

But in a perfect alternate reality, where corruption, discrimination, and bias didn't exist, the idea of some kind of parenting or health assessment before having children is interesting. The goal wouldn't be to decide who's "worthy" of being a parent, but to reduce preventable suffering like abuse, neglect, severe prenatal harm, or children growing up without stable homes.

The problem is that in the real world, there's no fair way to do this. Someone has to decide the rules, and history has shown that those kinds of policies quickly become discriminatory and violate basic human rights. So while I like the idea in theory, I don't think it could ever work ethically in reality.

It's childabuse to not let your kid have an abortion

If your underage child gets pregnant and doesn't want to continue the pregnancy, refusing to let them get an abortion is a form of child abuse.

Pregnancy permanently changes your body, carries medical risks, and completelychanges someones future. Pregnancy and childbirth are still among the leading causes of death for girls aged 15–19 worldwide.

I think parents should strongly encourage an abortion if the pregnancy is unwanted. I'm **not** saying they should force it, but they shouldn't romanticize teenage parenthood either.

Yes, abortion can be traumatic. But I don't think it compares to the trauma of pregnancy, childbirth, and becoming a parent while you're still a child yourself.

If the goal is to protect your child's future, I think parents should prioritize the well-being of the child they already have over the pregnancy.

Teenagers need to STOP being into politics

Why do we all have to act like we know everything nowadays when we really don't?

Politics has kind of become a trend among teenagers lately, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The problem is when it turns into a status thing where people feel like they have to pretend they're experts. If you're interested in politics, it's completely okay to admit you're still. You can't act like you know everything about politics when you can't even vote.

What annoys me is when teenagers start debating each other with so much confidence, even though half of what they're saying is just misinformation they got from tiktok. We should normalize saying, "I don't know enough about that yet," or "I'm still learning," instead of acting like we have all the answers.

Politics is way more than just being left or right. It involves history, economics, society. So saying your into politics while baerly passing those classes is kind of a dead giveaway. That's why it makes me cringe when people get most of their opinions from chatgpt and then try to debate like they're experts.

Teens liking politics is a very good thing, but they aren't doing this to learn. This is a trend to "show off" how much info from chatgpt you can remember.
