Beddy, a sweet 2 year old calico girl, looking her forever home!

Hi all,

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend!

We’re looking for a forever home for Beddy, a sweet 2 year old calico girl that is currently in foster. Beddy is spayed, vaccinated, and FeLV/FIV negative. Beddy was found when a kind neighbor noticed her on the street in a box and began feeding her. They posted about her in the Crown Heights subreddit, and then I saw the post and reached out to Court Street Cats. Court Street Cats went to the location the Reddit post said she was at and lo and behold there she was (the corner of St. Marks & Bedford hence her name Beddy)! She was very easy to trap with food, and then I posted in the Crown Heights subreddit looking for a foster and a wonderful person stepped up and has had Beddy for the last 3 months. Beddy is really a Reddit cat rescue and I’m hoping this community can help us find her a home to make her story full circle. Below is some information about Beddy’s personality written by her foster mom.

Beddy is an extremely playful, curious, and sweet Calico. Despite starting off afraid and unsure, she has warmed up tremendously and will follow you from room to room to investigate what you’re up to, and then loaf by your side. She will occasionally leave you to perch on the window sill, her favorite spot in any apartment. Beddy loves treats and with patience you can easily win her over with them! She also loves to play, run, and jump! Any toys with catnip in them, a long ribbon or a wand toy with a big fluffy feather attached are extremely alluring to her. Once you bond, whenever Beddy wants attention she will roll over on her back until you give her head and chin scratches.

Overall, Beddy is extremely friendly, playful, and cute. She will grow on you, but she does have an initial scared and shy side! Give her a few weeks to acclimate to a new environment and with love, patience and treats you will easily win her heart and loyalty. Beddy will need time to adjust to her new home, and starting her in a bathroom or another small space would be best for her! We’re looking someone who won’t just write her off because it takes her a couple of weeks to get comfortable. Beddy has been doing fine as a solo cat but is so friendly and playful that she could probably warm up to a companion cat with proper slow introductions.

If you’re interested in setting up a meet and greet with Beddy, please fill out an adoption application first (it’s not a commitment to adopt, rather a demonstration of your intentions) and the rescuer Ashley of Court St Cats will be in touch and get you in touch with the foster to set up a time for you to meet Beddy. Just a heads up that Beddy may be shy/hiding if you go to visit.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!! Please share this post with anyone you know that might be looking to adopt a cat! If you can’t adopt and don’t know anyone looking to adopt, your upvotes and comments help to get this post seen by more people and up the chance of Beddy being seen by her forever person so they’re all very appreciated.

Anyone with bottle baby kitten experience? Having trouble getting one to latch.

I have 3 bottle baby kittens from a rescue from tonight until Saturday night. I just learned how to bottle feed today, and while 2 of them are latching and drinking milk with some finagling, I am struggling with the last one. I was wondering if anyone in Hoboken had experience with this, and might be willing to help me tomorrow if this situation doesn’t improve. Tips are also welcome! I’m using warm milk and stimulating before feeding.

Flash, 6 month old male orange kitten, looking for a forever home ASAP! Losing current foster in a week.

Hi all, we are looking for a foster or better yet an adopter for Flash, a 6 month old orange male kitten. He is neutered, vaccinated and FeLV/FIV negative. His current foster is leaving the country in a week or so, and the Brooklyn-based rescuer PawsofHopeNYC doesn’t have a foster or adoptive home lined up. After months of having an apartment to free roam, it would be very hard for Flash to be crated again, and would likely cause him to be extremely stressed.

A little about Flash: He constantly meets and defies the orange cat stereotype. On some days, he does operate on the universally shared orange cat brain cell and other days, he is just the smartest little boy you have met!

Flash takes his own sweet time to open up but is generally friendly/indifferent to strangers. His kryptonite is the jingling of his toy-he hears the bell on his feather toy and he will wake up with groggy eyes to play. That has been the best way to familiarise him with people he meets for the first time. Like all young cats, he is most active through the night but keeps to his own toys and occasionally tramples all over you as you sleep. He has not yet shown any desire or mastered the art of climbing random surfaces, the bed is all he is intrigued by.

Behaviour - He is extremely gentle. If he likes and wants to interact, he gently indicates it. He is skittish when there are sudden movements or in the presence of strangers. But he is interested in interacting through the toy with strangers as well. He is not a lap cat- but he will be your little shadow and does like to cuddle up to you. He is very curious of all sounds and patiently sits by the bedroom door if he hears movement outside. Flash is also highly emotionally aware of human emotions and moderates his energy accordingly. He loves all toys except interactive ones. He loves small rat/mouse like toys the most! He is not yet responsive to catnip. The play pen is his safe space and he retreats into it to take a nap. His bed and litter are currently placed inside it. Sometimes he carries his toys inside to play as well.

Food Habit - He eats two meals a day - Weruva canned gravy + Applaws dry food + Fancy Feast 1/10th of a paté 3oz can, mixed together with a little bit of water. He does have a sensitive tummy so he needs the same meal every time. He is on Purina probiotics. He gets a few dry treats (Temptations) and Churu wet treat over the day.

Flash can be adopted solo, as he has been fostered solo. He could also be adopted into a home with another cat, as he is gentle and playful and would likely do well as long as there was a slow introduction.

Flash, 6 month old male orange kitten, looking for a forever or foster home ASAP!

Flash, 6 month old orange male kitten, looking for forever home ASAP. Losing foster home in a week.

Please share this post with anyone who might be interested in adopting or fostering Flash. Even your likes and comments help this post to be more visible and increase the chances of Flash being adopted. Feel free to PM me with any questions!
