In preperation for the new Premier League season, I compiled a list for all 20 teams of which London Termini correlates to each team.

  • Arsenal - Euston, St Pancras, King's Cross
  • Aston Villa - Euston
  • Bournemouth - Waterloo
  • Brentford - Waterloo
  • Brighton - Victoria, London Bridge
  • Chelsea - Victoria
  • Coventry - Euston
  • Crystal Palace - London Bridge
  • Everton - Euston
  • Fulham - Victoria
  • Hull - King's Cross
  • Ipswich - Liverpool Street
  • Leeds - King's Cross
  • Liverpool - Euston
  • Manchester City - Euston
  • Manchester United - Euston
  • Newcastle - King's Cross
  • Nottingham Forest - St Pancras
  • Sunderland - King's Cross
  • Tottenham Hotspur - Liverpool Street (I would've added the same ones as Arsenal here, if Seven Sisters wasn't a ridiculously long walk from the ground)

Is it possible to jump into account management at 29 years old?

So I'm turning 29 next month. Currently I am a co-training facilitator in healthcare so effectively I train people who work in healthcare on a legally mandatory piece or training, its freelance so I don't work every day of the work.

I've had a lot of struggles in my life, but I've finally figured out what I would like to do for definite, perhaps a little bit too late approaching 30. But it has clicked that I want to make a career in Business Development/Account Management based on my skills, interests and whatnot.

Duties which involve Market Research, Stakeholder Engagement (which I do currently), Data Analysis, Operations, Maintaining client relationships. This is the kind of thing that I'm aiming for.

The elephant in the room for me though is it my experience is very "fragile" to be kind. It's been more fruitful in the last 2 years, but for the first part of my working career I was in retail like Sainsbury's and Odeon, I've unfortunately also had significant gaps in employment which haven't been by choice. I had a very difficult time in school and struggled to the point that I didn't do A Levels and my highest grade is a functional skills level 2 English, a huge contrast to all the unhelpful praise I used to get when I was a lot younger (the most intelligent child we've ever had at the school so much that you'll make a name for us as a possible professor, etc)

But that's a story for another day, and I'm not here to relive the past. The bottom line, without grades or having gone to university, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place about how to achieve my ambitions, especially with a lot of jobs, even those that advertise as trainee, seemingly wanting some sort of direct experience. It's like the chicken and egg.

You often hear it said that sales is one of the easiest fields to enter, you mostly need the gift of the gab. But how true is that in this day and age?

There's also the common trope that it's not what you know but who you know which does seem to be true from people I've known, they all got into it from people they know. Even I got an interview a few months ago for a recruitment consultant not by applying but someone I met back in May at football celebrations (didn't get it though simply because its an agency of only 2 people, hence didn't have the time to train a rookie).

With all of this in mind, what is the best way to get my foot in the door? What role should I look for that could bridge the gap between what I do now? And what companies should I be looking at?

OHW: Blair - Have Fun Go Mad

https://youtu.be/gCQgBmd1Rmg?is=USacL5\_OYCIgD2Cp

Probably more for UK audience, being that's where this was from, charting at number 37. But it had a bigger presence than its chart position, being in movies like Dunston Checks In and Sliding Doors and 7 years after release being covered by the Tweenies in 2002 which actually charted higher than the original at number 20!!!

Britney Spears, Joey Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence and Andrew Lawrence with Minnie Mouse - March 1999

Woah!

u/hakc97 — 2 days ago

Would there be anything substantial or interesting to say about Joey Lawrence - Nothin' My Love Can't Fix for an episode?

Like there's no debate he only had one hit and it was an actual hit, he performed it on Top of The Pops.

But how much could Todd squeeze out of this? This was before the "Disney teen star turned pop" phenomenon that was on the cards later on in the decade with all those mouseketeers, so Joey was ahead of the curve in a way but also a case of "wrong place wrong time" perhaps? Like that BTTF quote "Guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it".

What about Joey himself? Is he interesting enough to dedicate a whole episode to? Did he deserve better?

Pontcanna Inn is apparently the best pub for fans before the Community Shield

u/hakc97 — 12 days ago

Have a few hours to kill next Sunday in the city centre, what to do?

Long story short, I'm coming in from London for the community shield at the Principality Stadium, but I had to book an earlier train cause most afterwards were sold out. So I'm arriving at Cardiff Central at half 10 in the morning (provided there are no delays), kick off is at 3pm though I'm assuming fellow fans will start converging at around 1 or 2 (the Pontcanna Inn I've been told is where we'll be)

What should I do in the spare time? Actually I'll have some time after the game though, booked a later train at around 8-ish to take me to Reading where I'm working the next day (though I might get that changed depending on the answers here)

I've never been so I have no idea, a boat trip around the docks would be a good start. But beyond that 🤷‍♂️

Fabrizio Romano, the Perez Hilton of the footballing world

For those of you who were old enough to remember, what was it like for you? Any personal stories?

My uncle remembers his boss at the time was a Spurs fan, and was absolutely livid when he went into work that day.

Britney Spears mentioning the song Kim in her autobiography

u/hakc97 — 26 days ago

Anxiety vs Illegal

Two songs from last year that caught on as Tiktok trends with very recognisable samples.

I don't see any argument for Doechii. She does basically nothing other than remind people of a song that was already a sample (Luiz Bonfá - Seville)

PinkPanthress, while she doesn't subvert as such, she does play into the song she's sampling being famously used in perhaps the most famous movie about drugs.

"I've suffered quite a few times with paranoia."

It's vague, but it can be related back to the scene of Renton seeing the dead baby Dawn when going through withdrawal. But I'm biased because Trainspotting is one of my favourite films of all time.

Ran into the man who introduced our gaffer to British football

Yep that is former Rangers and Scotland manager Alex McLeish, whose first Rangers signing was a 19 year old Mikel Arteta. Told him I'm forever grateful because without him, we'd never have had the joy of this season.

When will information come out about the Community Shield?

I know it's in Cardiff rather than London this year owing to the Weeknd playing in Wembley for 5 nights.

I went to our last Wembley one 3 years ago and I remember it not being that difficult to find a ticket. Will not as many people be going to this one because Wales is quite far? Also will it be on ballot too? Presumably so.

Hopefully something will be announced soon, cause train tickets are expensive especially on GWR.

What's the deal with Adam Aznou? Has he become the next Per Kroldrup?

So I'm half Moroccan and take an interest in the national team, they've got talent left right and centre many of them young as we've seen in this world cup. And there's been a lot of hype around Aznou, bu from an outsider perspective of someone who isn't a Toffee fan but keeps tabs on them and wants them to do well that since signing he's going the same way as when Moyes signed Kroldrup who was also highly rated but only played one game before leaving.

Does he still have a chance of becoming a starter at Everton or what? Cause he looked promising in the few minutes he played IIRC helping them get back in the game. Though I'm not sure he would usurp Mazraoui at left back.
