Tips for my son's long hair?

I love his hair but it gets frizzy and sometimes looks like a lion's mane :)

the second photo is his current routine. I'm sure its clear he would benefit from more regular trims (he is autistic and super protective of his hair, gets super uncomfortable/anxious at the idea of any type of haircut even just a small trim) so its only been about once a year he lets me trim a little off the bottom here at home. Ive always let him have full autonomy over his hair but lately i have been trying to convince him to let me take him to a barber shop. Just to clean it up but im not sure what I would even tell them because he wants to keep all his length. I'm also unsure if i should I take him to a regular man's barbershop, or a beauty shop due to the length?

The third photo is when he let me run a flat iron through it once just for fun :) he also asks me pull it back and braid it for him sometimes so he is open to some different styles, just not cuts.

I'm looking for any tips about the products he is using or recommendations, styling techniques, and any other ideas in general...

Fairly new hermit crab owner here.

Not sure how it happened, but we have three long haired humans in our house and it looks like one of our hairs somehow made it into his environment and it is stuck around him in his shell. We are being careful not to "tug" on it of course but we did trim it down so that it doesn't get any further tangled. It doesnt seem to be bothering him. Is there anything we can/should do other than waiting for it to work its way out?
