What weights should I use?

Hi! I am 18F, 150cm, 58kg. Since May, I've lost weight from 63 kg to 58 kg by walking 10k steps per day and being in a deficit. However I'm worried most of this loss is muscle instead of fat, which might make sense why I've not changed much visually, even though everywhere online says a 5kg loss should be pretty visible on a petite person.

I don't have much experience using dumbells, other than messing around with my homemade 500g water bottle dumbells. I just went to a sports store and felt like 2-3 kg dumbells were the right range, not too light or too heavy.

I was wondering if the people of reddit have any advice, like dumbells or kettlebells, what weight weights I should be working with (especially this!!) , what workouts I could do, etc

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

btw I dont have access to a gym so I don't need advice telling me to hit the gym and lift weights there instead. Thanks :)

Does the free fruit for kids thing in some stores have an age limit?

Bit of a weird question but say if I'm 16, so not a kid kid, but technically still a kid(?) Can I still take a piece of free fruit? Of course I'm not taking it when there's loads of kids or people in the store needing said free fruit.

Thanks :)

First time trying Halo Top ice cream!

Hi Reddit! I really felt like sharing my journey of getting ice cream and trying Halo Top for the first time today :)

I was really craving ice cream for lunch (literally nothing but ice cream). I'd heard good reviews of the Legendairy Pistachio Plombir ice cream (Pic 3), so I went to my local corner store where I'd seen it before. Of course, today of all days, it was out of stock. I ended up going on a quest to a bunch of different stores looking for that specific ice cream, but none of them had it.

On the way, I remembered hearing a lot of good things about Halo Top, so I decided to make the 30 minute journey from the corner store to a bigger supermarket that I knew had it. I grabbed a pint of Gooey Brownie flavoured Halo Top and put it in the only bag I had with me - a black tote bag. As you probably know, black bags heat up really quickly, which isn't ideal for Halo Top since I've heard it melts pretty fast because of all the air whipped into it.

I then made the 40-minute journey home, half walking and half sprinting, in 27°C UK weather. (Yes, I know that's not considered "hot" in some places, but the humidity and the sun here are no joke) As someone who hates being sweaty and running, here I am sprinting home for a pint of ice cream.

As soon as I got home, I put the pint in the freezer for a little while before trying it, and wow, it was amazing. It was a bit melty still from the heat, which I think made it taste even better. And yes, I did finish the whole pint. I'll probably have a stomach ache later, but oh well, I'd say it's worth it.

Thanks for listening for those who made it this far :)

Is my calorie deficit too low?

As the title says, I put my info in TDEE calculator to find my maintenence calories and it said my TDEE is 1520, so my cutting calories should be 500 calories less, so around 1000. I mean I have tried eating that amount or less and I was fine, I was slightly hungry during the day, but with eating high volume meals and no junk food snacks, I did fine. I even lost weight from 63 kg to 58kg. However I've heard that eating less than 1200 calories per day can be dangerous and might slow down weight loss and increase muscle loss? I was just wondering how many calories should I be eating?

Extra info: I'm 18F, 150cm, 57-58 kg. I also do 6-10k steps per day if that helps

My sibling has an ED. What do I do?

I am 18F. My younger sister is 16 and she already is quite skinny for her height, but I think shes developed an eating disorder. She usually skips breakfast and throws away lunch (will talk about that later). Dinner is mandatory in our house and we sit together at the table to eat. Every night after dinner she spends an hour in the toilet sticking a toothbrush down her throat trying to throw up, but she hasn't succeeded yet. She's now told me shes going to try more extreme ways to throw up, like drinking salt water, drinking toilet water, chugging alcohol, having a banana and milk (although she says thats way too many calories to risk having, in case the throwing up doesn't work).

She used to not know what a calorie is, but now she knows, although not to a good extent, rn her mindset is calories in body= fat. She doesnt know which foods are low in calories and thus good to eat, so she's scared of calories in everything, even veggies. A couple days ago my parents made her a bowl of veggies for lunch cos shes scared to have anything calorie dense like noodles or pizza, and she saud she tried throwing the veggies up after lunch.

Now rhat its summer holidays, she's now going out the house for long periods of time per day, cos she can skip breakfast and lunch (and maybe dinner), because my parents would force her to eat otherwise.

She also told me only skinny people should deserve to eat, and that shes not skinny (which she is kind of skinny), so any extra food consumed will make her fat. I tried letting her know every action we do burns energy and calories, like blinking, breathing, thinking even, but I dont thjnk shes convincd.

Sometimes when people give her food, she throws them away or flushes it down the drain. My parents found out about her tossing whole meals in the trash and confronted her and shes now thinking of ways to better dispose of the food, like walking out to the street to put in the big bin. She's also looking at weight loss pills or medication that makes you lose weight, but those are either 18+ or very expensive.

I cant believe I used to compare my diet to her. As the chubbier sibling, I used to want to be like her. Trying to eat less than her to compete with he so I can be skinny like her. Now that im on a quite successful weight loss journey and so am slightly more confident about how I look, I think im now a bit past that mindset of “I have to eat less than her” and “if she eats, I look skinnier”, and im more worried about her and how this might escalate when she gets a better understanding of calories and might track calories and go down a spiral and restrict her eating more.

I have talked to my parents about getting a therapist or something, but my sister is very stubborn and rolls her eyes at everything, so I dont think a therapist would be helpful. My sister will just not listen to them and waste money.

I'm sorry im really worried and mightve waffled a bit much. I need help as to what I should do.Thank you.

Is it overestimating?

For context I'm 18f, 150cm, 60kg. I went out on a wander starting from 7:30 am ish and stopped at 6:00pm. There was a lot of uphill, downhill, sprinting to cross roads. But no way I burned 2k calories right? I googled and it said I should be burning between 800-1200 calories. Is the app overestimating ?

u/jollybean1117 — 12 days ago

What calories burned estimate do I trust?

Pic 1: workout timer(?)

Pic 2: Daily activity

I am 5 foot, 60kg if that helps. Also walked for an hour on not so steep incline in the workout timer.

Thanks!

Indian food

Some foods aren't identified. The rice is chicken biryani, curry at the top is lamb curry, naan is normal naan ig? I don't know what the patty or the 2 bits of meat and curry at the bottom are.

I estimated 690 for the ones I already know, is this accurate? Thanks!

Has anyone been accepted despite missing the entry requirements?

Now that my exams are over, and a couple of them went terribly, I'm pretty sure I wont meet the grade requirements for my firm (or insurance). I've applied for Speech and Language Therapy, my firm choice is Uni of Manchester with AAB required in A levels, and my insurance is Uni of Sheffield with ABB required.

I heard elsewhere that some unis will still accept you even if you miss the offer grades, I was wondering if anyone has gone through that on results day, could they share their experiences of what that was like? Also is the accepting despite missing grades thing specific to certain courses, or less popular courses, or can it be any course?

Thank you! (Apologies for my bad english)

Foundation recommendations?

Hi, I'm pretty new to makeup, and I've been seeing those Douyin makeup looks with smooth, matte skin on my For You Page. I wanted to try recreating some of those looks. What are some affordable foundations that are good for achieving that effect? I have normal skin I guess? But it does get a bit oily very occasionally.

Any help is appreciated. hanks!

What's happening? Fast weight loss?

Hi, I'm a 18 year old female, 150cm. My weight from February to May has fluctuated between 63-65kg, in end of Mayish it dropped to 62 kg. My family recently got a treadmill at home so I've been doing over 6k steps on incline most days the past week, id say like 5 out of 7 days I did 6k steps? That's an upgrade for a very sedentary person who doesn't move around other than walking a bit to get around school.

Anyway I've seen a really rapid weight drop the last couple days I was wondering whats happening, 3 days ago I was 61, 2 days ago I was a bit under 61, yesterday I was 60.5, today I was under 60? Surely thats way too fast for weight loss right? I also weigh myself in the mornings after I pee and take a dump, and wear the same clothes, so it only could be my weight that's making the number on the scale change.

Other info: I use a tanita weight scale, the old fashioned kind, not the need electronicy ones. I'm also on day 6 of my period rn

um yeah idk, advice please? Is this actually weight loss or some other thing? And is it likely the weights going to go back up again
