Why should I make society better?

I’ve had a lot of dreams, ideas, and visions for my future, but unfortunately, because of various systemic failures and circumstances, many of those dreams and career goals have fallen apart.

Right now, I’m thinking about getting more involved in political, social, and economic issues. Maybe becoming an activist, working on community projects, or doing something that could genuinely improve society.

But I keep stopping myself and asking: Why should I?

I’m from an Indian village, and I’ve experienced a lot of negativity from people since childhood — hatred, jealousy, hostility, and sometimes even insults for no apparent reason. Just two days ago, for example, a teenager I don’t even know started verbally abusing me and using vulgar language toward me for absolutely no reason.

All of these negative experiences destroyed sympathy and compassion for my own people. Experiences like these have made a question why I should dedicate my time and energy to improving society which would benefits these savages who have no kindness for anybody.

I’m physically and mentally fatigued — could it be a neurological issue?

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Country: India

I’ve been experiencing significant physical fatigue and mental fatigue/cognitive slowdown for the past 9 months, and it has started to seriously interfere with my day-to-day life.

Initially, I saw a general physician, who ordered several tests, including thyroid, vitamin D, iron, protein levels, and an ECG. As far as I was told, all of the results were normal, and there didn’t seem to be any obvious physical problem based on those tests.

I was then referred to a psychiatrist. For the past 8 months, I’ve had multiple psychiatric consultations and have tried several antidepressants. Unfortunately, they haven’t resolved the problem, and recently my fatigue and cognitive difficulties have actually gotten worse.

At this point, I’m struggling to function normally in my daily life.

My main symptoms are:

- Significant physical fatigue

- Mental fatigue

- Cognitive slowdown/brain fog

- Difficulty concentrating and functioning normally

I’m not currently feeling depressed or anxious, and I’m not experiencing persistent negative thoughts. The main problem is the physical fatigue and cognitive slowdown. I genuinely don’t understand what is happening to me.

Could this potentially be a neurological issue? Would seeing a neurologist be a reasonable next step, or should I see another type of specialist first?

I am Physically and mentally fatigued. Is it chronic fatigue syndrome?

I’ve been dealing with chronic stress and depression for a long time. About eight months ago, I started developing severe physical and mental fatigue, and since then I’ve become increasingly dysfunctional in my daily life.

My main symptoms are:

- Severe physical fatigue

- Mental fatigue and brain fog

- Difficulty concentrating and focusing

- Struggling to maintain my normal day-to-day routine

- Feeling exhausted most of the time

I’ve seen a general physician and had multiple tests done. Eventually, I was referred to a psychiatrist. For the past 7–8 months, I’ve been taking antidepressants, and I’ve tried multiple medications, but unfortunately, they haven’t resolved the fatigue or brain fog.

I don’t currently feel depressed or anxious, and I’m not experiencing migraines, epilepsy, or seizures. The most significant symptoms are simply the physical fatigue and mental fatigue/brain fog.

Could this be ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), or could there be another explanation for these symptoms?

Also tell me, what should I do next?

Does Venlafaxine cause sleepiness?

I've been taking Venlafaxine for the past 3 weeks, and ever since I started it, I've been feeling sleepy almost all the time.

Even though I get a full night's sleep, I still feel drowsy throughout the day and usually end up taking another 2–3 hour nap in the afternoon.

Has anyone else experienced this while taking Venlafaxine?

Are there anybody doing social work in West Bengal?

I'm kind of feeling purposeless and like my life lacks meaning lately, so I've been thinking about getting involved in some social work for a while. I feel like contributing to something meaningful might help me and also let me make a positive impact.

Is anyone here already involved in social work in West Bengal? If so, I'd love to know if I could join.

(21M) I'm depressed and looking for people to connect with.

I'm currently going through treatment with a psychiatrist, and one of the biggest challenges I'm facing is loneliness. I don't really have any close friends, and I spend most of my time by myself.

Lately, I've also been recovering from brain fog, which has made it difficult to focus or be productive. Most days, I end up mindlessly scrolling through the internet, and I feel like I'm just letting time pass by.

I think having someone to talk to could really help. I'm looking for genuine friends—people I can have meaningful conversations with, share ideas, laugh, vent, and simply check in on each other. I hope it can be something that feels supportive and beneficial for both of us.

A little about me: I'm a huge book lover and a very curious person. I'd describe myself as a multipotentialite because I enjoy learning about all kinds of subjects. Some of my favorite topics include history, politics, economics, science, philosophy, psychology, and many other areas. I enjoy deep conversations just as much as casual chats.

If you're also looking for a friend or just someone to talk with, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. I'd love to get to know you.

How Was CPI(M)'s Rule in West Bengal?

CPI(M) governed West Bengal for almost 34 years. I was only 7 years old when the party lost power, so I don't remember that period at all. Back then, I had no understanding of politics, and I didn't even know who Jyoti Basu or Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee were.

I'm genuinely curious to hear from people who lived through those years.

How was CPI(M)'s governance in West Bengal? What were the governments of Jyoti Basu and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee like? In your experience, what did they do well, and where did they fall short?

I'm not looking for political arguments or party propaganda—just honest experiences and opinions from ordinary people who were there. Whether your experience was positive, negative, or somewhere in between, I'd love to hear your perspective.

Is anybody suffering from brain fog due to seasonal change?

I'm from South Asia, and the season here is changing from summer to monsoon. Over the last 2–3 weeks, I've been experiencing pretty noticeable brain fog, and I still haven't recovered.

I'm wondering if this could be related to the seasonal transition, or if it's more likely to be something else.

Does anyone else experience brain fog when the weather changes, especially during the shift from summer to monsoon? If so, how long does it usually last, and have you found anything that helps?

I'd love to hear if others have had a similar experience.

Any antidepressants that helps with brain fog?

I've been dealing with pretty bad brain fog for the past 2–3 weeks, and it's making it really hard to function. I can't think clearly, my concentration is poor, and I feel mentally exhausted most of the time.

I've been under a psychiatrist's care for the last 6–7 months. Until recently, I was taking fluoxetine along with bupropion. After starting bupropion, I first noticed emotional blunting, and then I gradually developed brain fog. I'm not sure whether it's a side effect of the medication or something that developed independently.

I saw my psychiatrist about a week ago, and he stopped the bupropion and kept me on fluoxetine only. However, I still haven't noticed any improvement.

For those of you who have experienced brain fog, especially while taking antidepressants, what medication or treatment ended up helping you? Did switching antidepressants make a difference, or was there something else that worked?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Does Bupropion Cause Cognitive Fog?

I was on bupropion for about 20 days. After starting it, I began experiencing emotional blunting, and over time I reached a point where I completely lost interest in my usual daily routine. I also started having a hard time focusing and concentrating, and I have almost no motivation to do anything.

My doctor stopped the bupropion about 7 days ago, and I'm currently only taking fluoxetine and aripiprazole. However, I'm still experiencing the same problems. I still can't focus on anything, and I end up wasting most of my day doing nothing because I have no motivation.

Has anyone experienced something similar with bupropion? Can these symptoms persist for a while after stopping it, or is it more likely that something else is causing them? I'd really appreciate hearing about others' experiences.

Has anyone here self-treated with antidepressants without a psychiatrist?

I've been dealing with a bad severe burnout, and since then I've been on antidepressant treatment. The problem is that I have to keep going back for follow-up appointments, and it's getting really expensive. Government psychiatrists in my area haven't been very helpful, while private psychiatrists are difficult for me to afford.

Now I am planning to do get medicine suggestion from ChatGPT and doing research on them. I can generate a fake digital prescription and go to pharmacy to get medicine.

Has anybody tried these things?

Is anybody taking medication for burnout?

About 7 months ago, I experienced what I would describe as a pretty severe burnout. Since then, I've been receiving treatment and have noticed around a 40–50% improvement overall.

What I'm struggling with is figuring out whether that improvement came from the medication, from natural recovery over time, or from a combination of both.

My situation has been a bit complicated. Initially, I was treated as if I had depression because my main symptoms were fatigue, low energy, and difficulty functioning. Later, after changing doctors, I was treated as if I might have bipolar disorder, although I personally don't believe I have bipolar disorder. My main issue has always felt like burnout and persistent fatigue rather than mood episodes.

I'm wondering whether I should continue my medication or quit it and give time to recover it naturally.

Does society hate you for being intelligent?

Recently, I experienced a situation where I went to a psychologist. We began discussing things, and I started expressing myself. Initially, he was friendly.

Then, a few minutes later, he changed his personality and became kind of egotistic. He began giving me a lecture in English, which is not his native language, and he started talking about various unnecessary pieces of knowledge and concepts. I was still wondering what had happened to him.

Later, I understood that my only mistake was expressing myself. I knew about myself better than he did, and he noticed that. It already signaled to him that I am an intelligent and smart person. So he began feeling intimidated and insecure around me.

He then started giving me a lot of unnecessary knowledge just to feel superior and above me.

This is not the first time I have faced this kind of situation. I have faced such situations with many people, where people seem to hate me for being intelligent and smart.

Have you ever experienced a situation like this?

Is it burnout?

I’ve been dealing with depression, chronic stress, and anxiety for almost 6 years.

Around November 2025, I suddenly started experiencing extreme fatigue on every level—physical, mental, emotional, and psychological. It became difficult to function normally, think clearly, concentrate, or do even basic tasks. My cognitive abilities also seemed to decline significantly.

Since then, I’ve been receiving treatment and taking medication. I have noticed gradual improvement over time, which is encouraging, but I’m still trying to understand what exactly happened to me.

At first, I thought it was simply depression. Later, I started describing it as nervous system fatigue because I felt completely drained and overwhelmed. Recently, I’ve been reading about burnout, and some of the descriptions sound very similar to what I experienced.

So I’m wondering: does this sound like burnout?

Does anybody have Bipolar Disorder here?

A psychiatrist allegedly labelled me having Bipolar Disorder but I don't. I changed the doctor and the new doctor are told me bring a family member next time to assess whether I have Bipolar or not. However, I have bad relationships with my family and I can't bring them. I am planning to bring a stranger as disguised as a family member. However, I don't know what kind of questions do they asks to the family member?

If anybody shares experience, I would be grateful of you.
