i think it would be neat if we got creative billboards or installation art with hagrid's bike for s1, the basilisk for s2, hippogriff for s3, etc. im not a marketing person so i would love to know what you think or wish they'll do aside from the ones they already did before

i find it interesting how wonder man got cancelled despite pulling 7 million unique viewers π€ like how many unique viewers is disney looking for if even a show like that would get cancelled? also, it seems disney cares more about unique viewers rather than streaming minutes based on this article
harry being abused and neglected is a part of his character. he cannot be the same character who made the same decisions in the series if this aspect of the story was downplayed or removed entirely. abuse is a sad reality that many children around the world face, and i wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the reasons many connected to harry -- as a form of escapism
there's another show i know which is based on a popular book series which has a main character who faced abuse. in the books, it's satisfying to see his abuser get what he deserves in the end. but in the show, they downplayed the abuse because "it's a kid's show" (which is bullshit bc there are countless childrens media out there that depicts child abuse). mind you, they also removed other important aspects of the main character's backstory, so not only is the show version different, but his actions made less sense and the story's events made less impact on the viewer (especially since they kept the skeleton of the plot), regardless if they read the books or not
don't get me wrong, im fully aware the show is rated TV-14 (not exactly a kids show). but im still happy the show is not removing this aspect of the story (in fact, they're even adding more scenes such as petunia cutting harry's hair which wasn't shown in the movies). it would have been a huge disservice to harry's character and to everyone who related to the abuse he faced
we have clothing items, mugs/drinkware, posters, hats, phone cases, stickers, and mouse pads, but like... is that all? these are items that could easily be replicated by any other third-party seller. the only "unique" thing is the trident necklace (and i guess the sword earrings and BFF bracelets from HT?)
no beads? toy swords? plushies? dolls? even the riptide pen???
i thought this was a "flagship" show for disney? why is the company known for creating merchandise of their projects (and earning billions from them) not creating higher-effort merch for this show??? especially when the third season is releasing in a few months???
that being said, do you think disney is planning on dropping new merch before the new season is released or alongside it? or would they just leave it like this?

i may not have watched that many HBO shows but i do know they deliver good scripts, sets, and productions. like... i just associate HBO with quality
if it was another production company, they would have treated this IP like garbage. there's this other show i know that's based on a fantasy adventure book series, and instead of treating it as a flagship show as they advertised -- they gave it lackluster scripts, visuals (the CGI is passable at best, so many scenes are grey or have poor cinematography), subpar action scenes, and even cut the "fantasy" aspects of the show to make it "realistic" and "grounded" (such as removing the mystery and suspense in the story). it could have been more popular and successful if the production company actually put in effort to make a good show. its fans also complained that it's not getting enough promo (idk if that's true or not, i don't keep up with news about it)
i've seen the "finding harry" documentary and was wowed by how much effort and detail they're putting into the show. the details in small things like the letter's handwriting (using calligraphy ink!!!), the hogwarts school logo, the houses logos, the animatronics, using PHYSICAL sets, even the muggles vs wizards clothes color palettes and textures (the latter were hand-dyed using real dyes), as well as making sure the story looks like it's set in the 90's, using HANDMADE wands (!!!)
i'm sorry, it's just difficult NOT to be excited for this show when they're putting in THIS much effort. like, it's clear that this show is a passion project for so many harry potter fans. they're even adding scenes from the books that weren't in the movies!!! how cool is that!!!
edit: dont get me wrong, i dont think the show would be perfect. it would be unrealistic to expect a perfect show. i just think HBO would deliver in terms of quality, you know? they want to introduce the series to younger generations as well as boost merch and park attendance sales, and they can't achieve those goals by making a lackluster product. from what i've seen, they're genuinely treating it as a flagship show, a flagship IP (as they should π )

for example, i think CW would definitely cast adult actors as the teenage characters and then put sexual tension just like the fox movies π will definitely not be the peak of television and will be low-budget but it would be entertaining in a "so bad, it's good" way and would somehow reach up to heroes of olympus and trials of apollo

my parents had me in their late teens. they are now in their 40s. my father is a narcissistic and borderline abusive piece of shit. my mother is afraid to leave him due to fear that she would cause trouble, that she would inconvenience people, and that she would be a burden.
tonight my father was throwing a temper tantrum bc he was calling her name and trying to get her attention but she was busy in the call with her father. mind you, he just lost his wife so he was really lonely and he had no one to talk to. my father ended up destroying one of our plates out of anger and frustration. he then complained how his now-dead father cheated him out of the deal they had and how he doesn't have money now (he was stressing over how we're supposed to pay for my sister's cancer treatment)
i genuinely cannot take it anymore so i decided to pack my bags. while i was packing, my mother was discouraging me and telling me not to leave her alone and to help her. i don't want to leave her alone either but all of my attempts to encourage her to leave have been futile. for many years, i had been telling her to go back to her parents (who live in another province), but she didn't want to bc she thinks she'd just be a burden to them bc they don't have much money, they were sending her siblings to college a while back, they couldn't afford three more mouths to feed, she didn't want to be a burden to them etc.. she also says she can't move to another province bc she already got a nice paying job here as a teacher (she has lots of debt though and most of her salary goes to paying that). asked her why she didn't go to the police and she said she didn't want to cause trouble (ig since this is not her hometown?). asked her why she didn't go to DSWD and she said "how are they supposed to help me?" ??? we have hotlines for abused women and children AND we even have a nearby women's shelter (that's only a few minutes away from here). asked her why she didnt think of the long term effects of abuse on me and my sister (who developed depression and anxiety disorders) and said she didn't think of it (she only thinks short term)
im fully aware that i am also an adult and i could easily file the police report myself, but i am also scared. i guess i got that from her, but somehow... i am also more willing to take risks. i know she is fueled by fear but a part of me still can't understand how she can't take a leap of faith. other housing situations may not be the best and i dont have lots of options where i could live but anything is better than staying with that piece of shit. i know leaving is hard but i wish she would at least TRY. why can't she at least TRY? why didn't she see how my father's behavior affected me and my sister terribly?
