Less than 100 pages remaining I don’t understand what’s so grim / dark about this book . I was expecting a world like Berserk.

The book is mostly just dialogue between characters rather than anything happening which I’m failing to understand what’s so grim dark what everyone says . Berserk vibe world what I consider grim dark where the world is enduring on trying to survive.

I just went down a rabbit hole on Malazan wiki and spoiled many plot … I could not just top clicking and clicking .

I felt like a child opening his presents while everyone was asleep, let me have a peak then onto the next and found myself reading for 2 hours because it just got so interesting. I feel ashamed . Dam you Caladan Brood and your interesting hammer lore that started my spiral . All I can say is will be going full steam ahead reading this series as it’s soooooo up my alley with all this lore and connections which I loveeee in my universe. This book needs to be made into a show .

Did S.E writing style change in book 3, it’s so much simpler to understand and follow through. Or I’m just used to his writing style now . Either way I love it .

I’m on page 100 and had not had to check the wiki not once as it’s simple to follow and understand compared to the first 2 books which I would zone out due to choice of words , info dumps. Did he decided to change is writing style 🤔.

After a brutal start I’m beginning to like the series , book 3 here we go :D

I’ve rage quit the 2 books so many times in the past 2 months of starting the series but it just kept calling me back and I’m starting to get the hang of the writing style…. Feel just like when I started playing Dar Souls back in 2011 and now it’s my favourite video game franchise . Can’t wait for the multiple reads where I discover lore I’ve missed or went over my head .
