What's On It...

Maple bar, fresh burger, bacon, cheddar cheese, drizzled with hot honey and dill pickles on the side.

Last stop of the week so I picked a fun one knowing I probably would not like it much. It was exactly what I thought it would be. Patty was great, just too much sweet for me(didn't help I gave away the pickle).

Anyway 13 1/4 different burgers this past week. Probably won't try this again, but these events are a great way to get out to different places.

Caramelized onions, bacon, whipped feta, guava jam, and arugula on a house pub bun.

Super solid. A bit of a surprise after the let down last year. Nothing crazy, just really good.

Double stack fresh ground burgers, pepper jack cheese, hot and sour pickled serrano chiles, ´In & Out Style´ onions, chile crunch aioli, shredded lettuce on An Xuyen Asian brioche bun.

Really good burger at a place that does not have a burger on the menu. I would definitely eat this one again.

House-ground beef patty with a soy glaze, lettuce, onion, Korean burger sauce, relish of pickled daikon, shallots, cucumber, and fresno chiles, and crispy shiitakes on a potato bun.

Umani flavor bomb. Really good.

6 oz Waygu beef patty with iceberg lettuce, Tillamook white cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, fried pickled jalapeños, and Besaw's house sauce on a potato bun.

Interesting flavor combo with an unexpected punch from the house sauce ( like a sweet mustard vinaigrette).

This one is my favorite so far. Definitely ticked all the boxes for me.

Summer Sungold Sandy

This sweet and salty burger has sungold tomato jam, two smash patties with pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, shredded iceberg, and basil aioli nestled between a Portland French bun.

The tomato jam with basil aioli combo were a little too marinara-ish for my liking but still a solid effort.

Bacon and cheddar stuffed patty, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, mustard and ketchup.

Nothing groundbreaking but pretty much a perfect representation of a classic cheeseburger. Bonus points to the old school dive bar ambiance.

1/3 lb seasoned Pacific NW 100% beef patty topped with mango-citrus slaw, pepper jack cheese, crispy fried jalapeños, a mango BBQ drizzle, mango sauce, house sauce, and onion.

Portland Burger went all in with this on and it was excellent. Messy but excellent.

Country Natural ground chuck topped with crispy fried pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, arugula, house-made pineapple jam and habanero aioli. Served on a toasted buttered brioche bun.

Actually a very good burger, even though not much of the pineapple or habanero present.

1/4 pound smash patty with roasted jalapeño marionberry jam, smoked cheddar, arugula, and crispy fried onions.

Tasty burger. Nice toasted bun, not too sweet and could use more heat but that is being nitpicky.

Mustard-based Oklahoma onion burger, American cheese, crushed Zapp's Voodoo Chips, pickles, burger sauce, on a Franz bun.

Nice little burger, almost fast food tasting but better.

The Pambazo Burger

Country Natural ground chuck, Swiss cheese, chorizo-potato hash, shredded lettuce, caramelized onion, avocado, salsa verde, and crema on a rustic bun dipped in guajillo sauce, griddled until crisp, then spread with refried pinto beans.

Good start to the week. Messy, the bun was a little chewy so the bite force would squeeze out the toppings.

Steakburger was a local place in Vancouver, WA that closed a dozen years ago. It was an old school institution with a mini golf course in the back. Spent many years in the late 80's/early 90's hanging out with a bunch of friends who worked there. It has lived on with a family who kept up a food truck until recently when they scaled back to a one day a week pop-up. My wife picked up a jar of their secret sauce so I cobbled together a similar burger. The sauce is similar but lacks the punch of the original. Anyway, fun to conjure up some old memories.

Winco (Hazel Dell, WA) maple ring with sprinkles and the start of IMSA Road America 6 Hours. A nice start to a Sunday morning.

House Smoked Pastrami, Swiss, HOUSE MADE Turmeric Sauerkraut and Garlic Dijon Mayo on Rye.

ITALIAN GRINDER-

A Forgotten Classic Cold Sandwich of Shaved Ham, Hard Salami, Capicola, Provolone, Pickled Red Onion, Tomato, Shredded Lettuce, Olive Oil, Red Wine Vinegar, and Oregano.

Both were great. I had heard really good things for a while now and they didn't disappoint.

Brined overnight then smoked for an hour with hickory and finished in the pizza oven to crisp them up. Tossed half in BWW Caribbean Jerk and the rest in my own ghost pepper buffalo sauce. Happy holiday.

Local joint Goonburger: Double beef and cheese, lettuce, onion, pickles and goon sauce.

Smashed, greasy and gooey in all the right ways.

1/3lb 80/20, shredded Alpine blend cheese, bacon, homemade quick pickles, mustard mayo horseradish spread, lettuce, tomato on a grilled pretzel bun. Side of Kettle Chips.

I would make this one again.

Quick half dozen from Angel's Donuts in Hazel Dell, WA. Felt like I needed a blueberry fritter for Formula 1 this morning.
