Happy Pride Month to all of our sub members!

A Very Brief History of Pride

Pride Month is celebrated in June in many countries to commemorate the Stonewall Uprising, which began on June 28 June 1969, after a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City. The protests that followed became a major catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.

One year later, activists organised the Christopher Street Liberation Day March, now widely regarded as one of the first Pride marches. Today, Pride is celebrated around the world as both a celebration of LGBTQ+ identity and a recognition of the ongoing fight for equality.

Marvel Rivals' Canon Queer Characters

While Marvel's wider universe includes many queer characters, only a few have made it into the game, and even fewer have canon references to their sexuality. Still, it is worth celebrating some of our canonically queer heroes in the line up:

Everyone's debating whether Cyclops should be a tank or a DPS (hopefully a tank :P), but what I really care about is that Scemma isn't completely omitted from the lore... We already know that GuagGuang chose an old-school relationship for Scott, the divine, never-present and dramatic Phoenix, but Emma and Scott meant so much to each other, their characters benefited so much from their relationship, and the coolest versions of these characters come from the periods when they were together, supporting each other, and let's face it, it wasn't always rosy, but what kind of comic book relationship is peaceful? Scott and Emma were capable of having meaningful conversations, had genuine emotion between them, and they were simply enjoyable to read... I hope that in the game, through some dialogue between them, they'll at least acknowledge their relationship existed, because in my opinion, it's so crucial to both characters' development that cutting it off completely would be a slap in the face to both characters and their fans.
